Please check out our second channel Wheels Plus / @wheelsplus611 Domestic vs Import drag race - New 2020 Shelby GT500 takes on 2019 model Porsche 911 Turbo S .
@@WindyCity1992 11.3's - 11.5's are the norm for the GT500. Track prep, Slicks, a tune & lower sea level altitude may get you 10's. You won't see those numbers running a strip in Colorado, lol 99.9% of the time you're not gonna see anyone hit 10's in a stock one.
I think anyone can see he missed his second launch in the 911. Article saying issues. Yeah issues, he screwed up. Do I think the Porsche would still win sure, but the Shelby guy really shoulda heated up his tires.
100,000 dollars separates these cars and one is rear wheeled and the other is all wheeled drive. Very impressive performance from a light TT flat six and a heavy supercharged v8.
@@silviodante6792 GT500 is not a 5.0, it's a 5.2 (lot more I could add, but Google is your friend). Powerful, yes, traction issues, yes. Warming up those tires would have helped a lot.
@@bigthing75 he didn't say it was Bozo. Learn to read. He said that a 5.0 GT can run the time that the gt500 ran. I can attest as I am a 5.0 owner and can hit those times with sticky tires
the 911 turbo s runs low 10's on regular tarmac, idk what was going on that race, on a prepped surface the 911 turbo s should do high 9's, no muscle car will ever beat italians, germans and british, they all ahve good engineering, something USA doesnt have.
They are at bandimere speedway at 5,800ft elevation. DA regularly over 8,000 there. Good rule of thumb is add 1% to the ET per 1,000 feet DA. So a 10.0 second car at 0 DA would be a 10.8 car at 8,000 DA. These drivers obviously weren't the best either so thats doesn't help. One benefit to electric powered cars is temperature and elevation dont effect them like combustion engines.
With all the engine issues Shelby's have they make old bmw m cars seem reliable. Timing chain tensioner, over heating (on early models), continuous engine failures on later models. I have two friends who had gt350s. They loved the car and so did I. When it works it is a good car. But both 350s were put off the road due to engine issues. One consumed a quart of oil every few hundred miles the other one blew while driving.
I knew that European guy with the green mustang was wrong about the gt 500, vs the Porsche. I'm referring about something on another RU-vid channel. Mustang gt500 will pretty much beat any stock vehicle thru a quarter mile....
1st off can't be a Gt500. Cause the Gt500 times way way lower under 11s in the 1/4. If it is then problem I see he didn't do burn out to warm up the tires. 2nd Porsche vehicles are very light. Way lighter then any Mustang. With the engine in the back helps huge. Last I also know Porsches are also under 11s. More on this race is who gets off the line faster wins.
Well from the design we can clearly see that it is a GT500 But if you see from price point of view then mustang is best And you are right he should have burn out to heat up his tyres
Nah that 500 hundred definitely a beast but Porsche launch control is insane I thought think them and BMWs definitely have great launching controls nothing like it
If you didn't know these new gt500s are already been getting tunes an est done there running low 9sec 1/4 now and i think some may even be faster all utilizing stock internals
@@ericclemons3293 the new 500's only come in a dct 10 speed auto trans. Not standard trans here. Just someone who doesn't understand how to control the power.
@@99drboost it has paddle shifters and a sport mode launch control. I own multiple Shelbys how many do you have? The 2020s were designed for a road course not drag racing. Plus if you're lugging in second the "Automatic", won't downshift on its own by design.
@@Verysizle absolutely in love, I was tentative when I saw how much she weighed and the stiff axle stories of the past gen gt500s.. but this new machine is a marvel. Handles the weight and power like a nimble god begging for more power. Also came from a manual z06 to this. I’ve always owned manual cars, thought I wouldn’t like the dct, but jeezuz was I wrong. The shifts are insane.
You’re not taking in account that they are racing at the highest track in the country! Close to 6000 ft elevation uncorrected, you can knock off nearly a second by going down closer to or at sea level. A 10.9 car at or near sea level is a high 11 up here!
That Shelby driver was horrible. Didn't heat the tires up and sucks at using the launch control. That car stock will run low to mid 10's when driven properly
I'll never forget the Ford CEO saying " Venom kills Demons " LOL not running those quarter mile times it doesn't ! 760 HP and it barely breaks into the 11's ??? What's up with that ??
So real world driving by average drivers are often second or so slower than what a pro can do in ideal conditions. Demon would be an 11 second car here as well. That track gets DAs that are few thousand feet above sea level as well.
Yup I seen the GT500 reveal live because it was said Venom kills Demons. When they said 0-60 time we all knew it wouldn't even be close, infact that race is over in 60ft!! Then everyone was saying, well at least it can turn! But yet very few track videos but alot of Drag racing the Gt500 videos! You gotta Mod the crap out of it...BOLTONS...But it should be alot quicker than it is. Ford guys wanted a Demon killer but got a car that says otherwise! 🤷♂️🤔
wow what a sweeping generalization about Porsche owners...you should watch the many videos of mustangs out of control and taking out crowds of people...it appears to be some Mustang owners who can't drive.
Gt500s driver was shit, they didn't put any heat in the tires, and they sucked at using the launch control That car runs 10.3s stock... when driven by a real driver. edit: i cant speak for the Porsche though, don't know much about them.
Gave the 500 the jump first race and walked by easily, totally flubbed the start 2nd race and almost ran him down, I’d love to have either car but that Porsche is just a better car in every way, except maybe exhaust sound.
The 911 Turbo S is 2 seconds faster in the Motortrend lighting lap than the GT500, does 0-60 in 2.2 and 1/4 mile in 10.1, some tests have dipped in the 9s with stock everything vs 3 seconds 0-60 and 10.7 1/4 mile, oh and the 911 traps 137. It is also not the fastest 911 like the GT500 is the fastest Mustang. GT2 RS is even nastier.
@@samholcombe3129 The 2020 GT500 matched the GT3RS So i know it will stomp the Turbo S Because the S isn't as good on track As the GT3RS wich uses Cup2R tires
