I never understood why people think even the old Corolla's were slow. They are with out a doubt more than quick enough for any driving scenario. You don't need 200-300hp in any daily driver car as you just flush your money down the gas tank for no reason. 99% of the people out there don't hit the pedal hard enough to feel the additional power anyway.

I applaud for the direction they're going with the redesign of both this car as well as the Rav4. However, if I had to choose between the sedan or the hatch, I think I'd go for the sedan. This is not to say that the hatch isn't sharp, I'm just drawn to the sedan for whatever reason. Also, Drew, is the any car that you don't look good in? Lol!

Drew and Mason 😄. Thank you for reviewing the 2020 Toyota Corolla, question for you two, do you think at close $30k Toyota should have included Android auto, rear vents, and rear seat ports for wireless devices? Toyota did a great job for 2020 Corolla, XSE trim is very nice. It seems the car is missing important features for a brand new redesign vehicle. I've yet to figure out the Android for the Apple carplay?! I paid premium for this Corolla...27k. I didn't care....I wanted it. Heck it has 5yrs or 100k on the warranty, and it has 27k miles. I'll probably hit the five yrs before the 100k! This is my third Corolla. I still have an 03' with a shytload of miles on it. It is a 5spd MT. I might donate it.

Toyota will sell boatloads of the 2020 Corolla based on Toyota's reputation for reliability. In fact, though Toyota remains at the top of the list in that regard the margins among the top several brands is now so slim that owners are paying for very little in the way of an advantage of one brand versus another. Meanwhile, Toyota engages in cost cutting, especially in terms of interior quality, and a lack of innovation and features offered by other brands in their products . Finally updated with Apple CarPlay but still no Android Auto. No rear seat vents regardless of the trim level. No turbo engine option. No thanks.
@dino91001
@dino91001 5 лет назад
you’re seriously complaining that it doesn’t come with a turbo but you’re acknowledging that they uphold their reliability standard/reputation? you want a little four cylinder with a turbo plastered onto it, get a honda
@stephenhendricks103
@stephenhendricks103 5 лет назад
@@dino91001 Sorry. I think you misinterpreted my comment to some extent. I wasn't "complaining" about the absence of a turbo option in the Corolla. (In fact, I'm not in the market for any car in this category.) I was simply pointing out that other brands offer more choices, options, and less cost cutting than Toyota in comparable vehicles. Toyota is undeniably successful in marketing the reliability of their vehicles, encouraging shoppers to overlook their shortcomings in other areas. But the actual margin in terms of reliability between Toyota and its competitors has shrunk tremendously in the last two decades. The risk for an individual buyer of encountering important failures in a new car from most brands over the first 5-7 years of ownership is very, very low today, especially compared to even a decade ago. Toyota maintains, for example, that they shy away from offering turbocharged engines in most of their vehicles for reliability reasons. But the actual failures of modern turbocharged engines over the average life span of a new vehicle purchased today is absurdly low. If I were in the market for a new vehicle I expected to drive for 15 years or more, I suspect I would choose a Toyota. The 4Runner, for example, is extremely dated compared to its competition and lacks many of the features of its competition. But I recently met an elderly fellow who purchased a new 4Runner because he needed a new SUV to replace his 23 year old 4Runner. I have no doubt that his new 4Runner will be available to his heirs. And if I wanted a small pickup that could stand up to abuse and neglect in the worst possible conditions I'd note that the vehicle of choice among ISIS terrorists is a Toyota. Vehicles that can stand up to conditions of war in the desert is a pretty strong recommendation. But very, very few new car buyers keep their vehicles long enough to benefit from the marginal differences in reliability among most brands today. And in purchasing a Toyota it's important to recognize that the brand's reliability isn't cost free. One sacrifices a number of features for that marginal difference.
@neverknow5117
@neverknow5117 5 лет назад
What is the point in a turbo? The car has more than enough performance for any driving condition. Turbo just complicates design, increases price and reduced reliability. Never saw a need for rear vents.
