Excellent job, Pete the Panda did really well. The lighter weight of the Panda is a big plus when travelling over steep rougher terrain!👍 2 cylinders and only 875cc 😁👍

That was awesome guys! You gave a great perspective of the severity of the gradient and how loose and knarly that track was, well done Pete! And you guys for giving it a go, If you’re going to carry on off-roading and pushing the boundaries maybe Pete will require a lift and some even more extreme rubber, Another great watch, thank you 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

You are affectionately known as "Ace" to Nath and mygoodself - so we are looking to take the L200 off the road for a while (we are proper slow at doing anything, except making the next coffee !) The list of jobs and parts we have will take some time, me thinks. So its moths out the wallet, to get a sparring partner closer matched to Pete - Nath has it in his head that this could be a death row vehicle, as he is keen to trash something to death, not my wallets number 1 plan, so I will need to reign him in on expectation ! I have been watching the Welsh weather - thought it would be super grim by now, just very wet !

I doff my cap to you guys for taking the time and effort to take what is effectively a Brand New Shopping trolley with some added Factory extras and a wicked 4x4 system off road and push the boundaries like you have, as I say effectively a Standard Car with All Season Road Tyres My knowledge of off road is a lifetime of off-roading on a Mountain Bike, seen it, heard it and listened to all the tales, and although I know nothing of 4x4 off roading I know you do it with Big Tyres and lifted suspension, my mates have done it in V8 Disco’s, so what you have achieved is fairly tame to some, but end of the day you have shown what a standard off the peg with no real mods other than some Plasti dip can do I bought my cross after watching videos from an Italian Guy who posts you tube videos, Having seen your videos I’d have not even given it a second thought Having been a total petrol head for years, I woke up one day and got rid of the cars and stopped watching You Tube and follow no one, stumbling on Yourself and Nath has been a breath of fresh air, ( and the Italian Guy) you both make me laugh, no ego, I’m sure there is plenty of planing behind the scenes, but I can’t praise you both enough for making these videos And anyone who can drink as much goid coffee as me definitely gets my 👍 Love from North Wales, Wrexham ( Hollywood ) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Ace

Have you seen my Wrangler ? god knows how Nath talked me into buying it - but there is hardly an inch I have not touched with a cloth and ACF50 - pathetic really ! If I was to even get close to what it could do, my talent would run out way before that moment and I am sure it would be sitting on its (new and expensive) soft top roof :) The Panda is a right hoot, as you say, comparing to the likes Ausi channel 4WD247 we are mega tame, but busting propshafts and laying around under your car in the mud, does zero for me - but I do enjoy watching it ! We have no experience (yep it shows) so we are genuinely finding it exciting - Nath as bundles of enthusiasm and I am trying to stop thinking cost if it busts - the two out next we bickered over him contemplating drowning his truck in a river we found, & not even a tow rope between us !! But not many cars I can think of that you can park easily in Tesco, hoon up a country lane, hop on the motorway listening to apple carplay tunes, then slide down a hillside in the mud - top car the Panda !! Lastly - sorry I can waffle on - Nath when at college (UK) was on a pathetic 3 days a week - so I made him get a job (that ended up 4 days a week, he loved it) at a coffee house in Southsea (Portsmouth) - so Flat white with artwork, no problem !! Retirement gift from work was a very sexy Italian Rocket espresso machine - so coffee is a massive part of our day !

Morning I haven’t seen the Wrangler I’ll take a look, ironically are they not a Fiat? Last year when researching the Panda, I made myself consider other options, and I looked at a 500X 4x4 which I’m sure shares the same floor pan , maybe I’m wrong I’m with you, other than I don’t watch any extreme off road, I have 0 interest in pushing, shoving and towing a vehicle up some track only to have to spend hours repairing it, not for me, I’d take one of my EBikes faster up those green lanes anyway, We spent literally hours riding the North Wales Green Lanes in 90’s / 00’s, nowadays we go to a Trail Centre and follow signs then go to the Trail Head Cafe and talk more about riding than actually doing it 😀 You’ve totally hit the nail on the head, the little Panda is perfect at Nipping about town, doing all the normal stuff all week long with a cunning little ability that no one expects, I like that about a vehicle, a big off-roader built specifically for the job would be no good for me, the little Panda zips around lanes beautifully, takes a load of shopping and I can park it anywhere and if it ever snows I’ll be off snow hunting,, driving it around a Forest tonight for a xmas event ( just fire roads 😂) Its been great watching what a Standard car is capable of, Panda looks great on those fairly dry trails, it’s looking like Clearance will be your issue now? Has the clutch stopped slipping? ( maybe bedded in ?) I’m envious of Nath giving the Barista job a go! Those Rocket machines are fantastic, I’ve had multiple machines, after getting lazy I settled on a Delonghi Bean to Cup, which I’m now on my 3rd Machine, with one that needs going for a service, we work from home full time so our machine gets a good workout 😀 Looking forward to your next adventure, an option for Nath ( maybe you should rent one ) Suzuki Ignis 4x4. (new version ) I seriously considered one, as I found it really difficult to find a Cross, the Ignis looks quite capable, hindered by Tyre Choice ( odd ball size ) like the new Cross comes with Road Rubber, I think there would be quite a lot of people Considering both cars, but not really a good comparison or test, ( but probably way more money than you want to spend 😂😂😂😂😂 for another shoe box car 🤣) Enjoy the coffee, Pastel de Nata’s and the Portuguese weather 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I will get Nath to demonstrate his Frankenstein ebike - I had a ev scooter (dont ask) in Portsmouth - probably 10 years ago and Nath commandeered it off me - here he fitted a foam pad to the bit you should stand on and footrests off his trick scooter and wandered around our new area looking like a demented child in a mans 6 foot 2 frame riding a weird Harley inspired arms in the air thing, dragging his arse on the floor😂 then he snapped it jumping a sand dune, so took his BMX, fitted the small wheel with motor to the back and all the batteries on the cross bar - a month or so ago, his buddy came over from the UK, they hooked up a garden rubbish trailer to it and went best part of 3 miles into town, so they could get beers and not use a taxi👏🏼 As to an Ignis - we have looked for one this morning, we can only find one used for sale in Portugal, 12K - outch, a great shout mind. The 500X is sold here, but the 4x4 version is not on the .pt site, never seen one - but the dealer has a matt grey with tan leather one (2WD) its stunning, way nicer than I thought and the 500e is really tickling my fancy - we were in the dealer getting a part for my JEEP , FIAT owned as you say - think mine was in the Mercedes owned era of JEEP (2009) or just after. Coffee is now ready - my number 1 barista has shouted for a brew - so stay in the walm or hit the heated seat button :)

I'm a Panda lover myself. I have 2 mk1 and 1 mk2 multi jet. If you really want to test the panda to the limit you should buy a proper mud terrain tyres. As you are in Portugal I would advise Fedima F/OR. Retreaded but really good for off road. If you have a second set of rims. Everyone in Portugal looking for something more adventurous chooses them. I've used them in the past in the MK1 pandas and they are great. Try them and tell me what you think. Greetings from Madeira Island, Portugal

I searched the tyres before a reply, they look amazing - so they would be a great test - the Michelin tyres I put on have mad a big difference, will be interesting to test a set against them - I have 3 sets of wheels, so will get a set early nets year to try - great tip, thank you

Could you compare the Panda Cross to the Panda 4x4 one time? My wife owns a 4x4 wild and we'd like to know how much the different features influence off road capabilities.
@DrivenMadShow
@DrivenMadShow Год назад
Do not hold me to this - but I believe the difference is only trim, so mechanicals are the same (educate me if I am wrong :) - our 169 and 319 are very different visually, but the propshaft, diff's etc are the same, the main difference is the supports and mounts - on a ramp, looking at the underside, unless you were very knowledgeable, it's a struggle to tell them apart - the differences are really in which engine you have - the 4x4 bit is the same (within reason) so long as you are a 4x4 with Electronic Locking Differential) ( the eld is the same, our 319 had hill descent added over the 169 & a sexier knob to control it, but that's just software the HD not mechanical)
@Felix-fy7ki
@Felix-fy7ki Год назад
@@DrivenMadShowFirst of all: I forgot to mention that I'm talking about the 312/319. I guess the Cross might have better off road capabilities. The 4x4 wild has ELD and 4x4 is switched on/starts working automatically when there is a difference between front and rear wheel rpm. The Cross has a knob to adjust 4x4 automatically like the standard 4x4, 4x4 constantly engaged , ELD and hill descent control (I think). I think, there should be a difference when you really go off road or deep snow, not just unpaved roads. And I also think to remember the Cross has 90HP, whereas the 4x4 wild has only 86HP.
@DrivenMadShow
@DrivenMadShow Год назад
It is not easy to pinpoint in writing the exact answer - based what I know (not a lot ! ), some surfing and asking a couple of bod's I know - we all believe the 4x4's are all the same - there are versions, facelifts which add different body parts (like the latest cross has a more aggressive front & (plastic 🤣 ) skid plate ) for better approach angles etc - the cross got better electronics (latest getting a touch screen) and hill departure etc - but fundamentally the Panda (s) are a permanent 4 wheel drive vehicle ( 90% to the front in normal driving) but the key to them being so good, is the drivetrain is always engaged, not using a haldex type clutch (suv's / LR Freelander etc) that locks up and engages the rear on slip detection, so the Panda reacts much faster. The trekking was a 2 wheel drive version that had an ESC-based electronically simulated front locking differential - but that was not a 4x4 - all 4x4's are the same, with age related improvements that help, but are cosmetic or software rather than a different / better drive system, which I think is your point ? Engine wise, my 2021 twinair is 85 hp - I believe the wild is 83 hp, but that's just age related and a difference Lewis Hamilton could not detect :) If I was a betting man, your Wild v my Cross will be identical, would be my one pound wager 🥳 My rationale is: my 2008 169 4x4 and 2021 319 4x4 are as good as identical underneath - I have spent enough time under them to know that :) the only big differences are the rear subframe ( & suspension mountings ) designs are different, the counter weights and diff mounts are re designed - but the physical drive systems are still the same. I am no expert, so this is what I think to the best of my knowledge, rather than 100% fact.
@Felix-fy7ki
@Felix-fy7ki Год назад
@@DrivenMadShow Thank you for answering. I couldn't find anybody to explain how the 4x4 works in depth. I think hardware is identical, but the electronica to activate 4WD is different. Now you tell me, the 4x4 is engaged permanently, I was of the opinion that it works Haldex-style but activated electronivally, not via pump like Haldex, which a dealer told me. So the option of manually engaged permanent 4x4 in the Cross would make sense. It doesn't make sense to me according to your explanations. So a comparison between a standard 4x4/ wild 319 and a Cross should be even more interesting than I thought. My thoughts are that the 4x4 wild activates 4x4 drive when there is a certain difference how fast wheels front and rear are rotating, the Cross is same but has a switch to close that clutch manually, so 4x4 is activated as long as the switch is on (knob). I'm also wondering why there is no detailed explanation how 4x4 is working ca be found on the Fiat presentation sites. When we bought the car, I searched the internet for weeks.
