@@Traxxion whatever long distance youre talking about... there's always the human factor. the machine can keep going but the human body needs to rest. not advisable and not good to have someone riding continuously for a 1K without stopping.

@@davidsoh7819 to be clear, they don't go 1,000 miles without stopping. They do do it in a day, which isn't easy, but it's certainly not life threatening. What seems impossible to most can be easy for the person who makes it their lifestyle.

Apple or andriod phone would be fine have it backed up if it fails buy another.

This type of setup is used by many competitive rally and long-distance riders. It's quite common to use multiple GPS units - one for master navigation of your rally plan, another one for side jaunts or last-minute additions, and a third as a backup. If you don't ride competitively that's fine, but just because it doesn't make sense *to you* that doesn't mean that it's nonsensical.

What you describe is very common... HD for around town "Stylin", and a Wing for actual touring. Most wives won't ride a HD on a long trip, so they make their husbands buy a Wing! Clearly, the new bike was aimed at bringing in a "younger" rider than the previous models.

@@LongDistanceMotorcycleFans has she ever been on a Goldwing??? I've never heard of that. It's 100% of the time "wife won't ride a Harley, she made me buy a Wing". We know tons of guys who have a HD to be "cool" for riding around town with the fellas, but have a Wing for any actual riding.

@@Traxxion Well I guess I’m your first, and I only ride about 20,000 miles a year, this year it looks like I may be over 30,000. Most of that is with my wife on the back so yeah I think you consider us real riders.

Hi Max, Since I drive a GoldWing GL1800 (SC68) with a sidecar, I am interested in pretty much everything that has to do with the GoldWing. It is very regrettable that such projects are not possible here in Germany. The TÜV (Technical Monitoring Association), which is relevant in our country, does not allow this and thus prevents approval for road traffic. It was a great pleasure to follow the creation of War Horse on your RU-vid channel. Can I ask a question about the built-in front and rear cameras?!? Which front and rear cameras was used at War Horse? Is there a link to this camera e.g. on Amazon? Thank you and good luck with your projects. greeting Manfred

Here is the camera system I used: amzn.to/3qEo4us The head unit is not waterproof, which was fine, as I put it in the glovebox. It came with both hardwire and usb power cords. I used the USB power in the glovebox.

He DID take the trip, and successfully completed 6 True-Xs, got all of the Tour of Honor Sites in the Four Corner States, got Covid on the trip, and was sick and out, had multiple crazy things like a rock knocking a hole in his oil filter, etc. 75,600 miles he completed, and slept by his bike at night, never stayed in a hotel!!!!!!!

@@Traxxion I probably ran across that guy, I was an Air Traffic Controller for 15 years and had no problem looking over a few gadgets and managing an airport without getting confused. I still think the whole thing is an overkill period. If he has money to burn, good for him! I truly don’t see the Work Horse going into production anytime soon, too heavy and not efficient at all. Keep doing what you do brother! By the way, I did like the parking break tie-in, Honda should take note on that one! 😎

@@DexQuin Not sure what weight you are concerned about. The heaviest accessory on the bike is the fuel tank, which is about 50 pounds when full. 100 pounds of accessories is far less than a typical passenger.

Tank bag = no lock!

Stock filler cap is not vented. The tank is.... we fed into the stock vent.

It is the maximum loop time available from the camera manufacturer. You could have an editor string them together I'm sure.

Not really a lot actually. Most of it is electronics and such. Since he's not riding with a passenger, it's still far less than the bike was designed for.

The company that makes the lights, Clearwater Lighting has an array of light sizes and lumen outputs... you can easily pick the ones that suit your needs from their lineup. They are the "gold standard" of aftermarket lighting for durability.

@@Traxxion Btw how did you put the attaching point of the light on the wheels? I 'm pretty sure i have not seen that on a stock model.

If you missed the entire point of the bike, the owner is attempting multiple long distance riding records. All of the items on the bike have been put to great use already. He's already completed his first True-X crossing of the US, and starting on the 2nd. When you get on a motorcycle and hold the throttle open for 4 months 18 hours a day, you need to have everything you plan to live with on the bike.

The bike was $80,000 complete.

@@Traxxion I did end up watching the entire walk around, and I realized the owner would be living on the machine and requires a lot of electronics to track his movements in order to get the proper recognition for his achievements. But I would do my riding with less but even at my young age would not physically be able to ride those distances. I stay off highways because of how boring they are but my trip seat times are only 10-14 hours a day so I’m happy to get gas when the 6.6 gallons is gone. I’m sure he will be successful.

I have seen that done once, it looked fine. In order to change the boots, you would have to remove the cowls each time though. I didn't have all the various brands of lights straight in my head. The only Pathfinder product on the bike was the cowl lights.

Apparently you've never see a plastic windshield crack off in a crash. The entire windshield becomes a 2 foot wide razor blade. If you are riding a bike with a windshield, it's 100X more dangerous than a Garmin.

@@Traxxion Fortunately I haven't :) I have no doubt, especially with an aftermarket windshield (I also use an aftermarket ...). I believe that Honda will have foreseen this possibility.

Hi Mista! Typically, it is best to start with a brand new bike for this type of project. At a minimum, you should start with a completely stock bike, or one with almost no miles. If your bike has already had lighting and various other things installed, it can be harder to work with. Also depending on condition and use, hardware can be stuck or damaged, plastic can be damaged, etc. Each bike is custom and the price depends completely on what you want to do with it. A bike like this one costs anywhere from $10-50,000 to upgrade. This owner spent $50,000.00 on the upgrades, and the total bike was around $80,000. The "new" model bike (2018+) is a great platform for upgrade, because all of the new electronics are plug and play. The previous bike was all "cut and splice". I don't think so, but if you were really that concerened, you could just buy a license plate LED for $5 and run a wire to it.

Most radar detectors have rearward detection, as does this one. If you put it on the dash, you lose all of that functionality, as the rider blocks all the signals. It has to be as far outboard as possible... like I mounted it! :)!
