From Edmunds: (www.edmunds.com/jeep/wrangler...)
The Wrangler oozes personality. It's fun to drive in a visceral way and is unbeatable off-road. On the downside, the steering, handling and ride quality suffer from this SUV's off-road focus. Overall, though, the Wrangler has just enough of a modern vibe to make it feel nicely up-to-date.
Pros
Unrelentingly capable off-road
Extensive customization options
Available diesel engine
Removable top and doors
Cons
Steering is slow and feels loose, especially on the Rubicon trim
Lots of wind and tire noise at highway speeds
Less cargo space than some conventional SUVs
What's new
•Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid version
•Rubicon 392 with a 470-horsepower V8
•Islander and 80th Anniversary special editions
•Xtreme Recon package with 35-inch tires and suspension lift
• Part of the fourth Wrangler generation introduced for 2018
The Wrangler is the original go-anywhere, do-anything vehicle that still has the spirit of the original military Jeep of World War II. In an era when SUVs have become the de facto family vehicle, the Wrangler is a throwback to rougher and more rugged off-road vehicles. It's not as comfortable as rival SUVs such as the Toyota 4Runner or Land Rover Defender, but in return it provides excellent off-road capability, two-door and four-door configurations, and a removable top.

Jeeps don’t ride like a sedan because they’re designed to be off road vehicles. Jeeps aren’t designed to be daily drivers, but many Jeep owners use them as daily drivers. They get poor gas mileage, they ride rough and they’re noisy. They’re designed to be easily customized and modified to suit their owner’s preferences. They will go just about anywhere regardless of road conditions, or no road, rough terrain, or adverse weather conditions. Folks buy them because they’re a lot of fun to own and drive. Some folks actually consider them to be a status symbol. Jeep owners have their own community of fellow Jeep owners and acknowledge each other with the classic “Jeep Wave” when they meet on the road.

Hi! I have the same car and you mentioned the diesel sounding engine at startup. I actually had this concern with the loud noise and a ticking sound and brought it in last week. Turns out i had an oil pipe leak which then resulted in a damaged camshaft. Haven’t had my car in over 2 weeks now waiting for parts.

I'm three weeks into my first Wrangler - 2024 4-door Willys - and I totally agree with the 2.0 engine sound. It's like a deep rumbling, especially when I'm accelerating from a stop. It kind of freaked me out the first time I heard it, but now I'm used to it. One thing that irked me is the no locking gas cap or hood lock. Other than that, it's awesome.

Agree with you completely!! It’s a little harsh

Make sure to run with 91 gas. It will make your engine run much smoother, more reliable turbo response and generally faster. It makes a HUGE difference

Lol rural area, things like to go missing. Why would you not spend a few dollars to protect your investment. Seems prudent to me.

Lol, where do you live that a locking gas cap and hood locks are needed, especially if you live rural?

Doesn’t matter. Just a simple thing to protect your car. Why do all other vehicles have hood latches and locking gas caps? Thanks for watching.
