Kia was incredibly smart with the Sorento. This is on the small side of the mid-sized three row cross overs. Whereas, the Telluride is on the larger end of this class. The Sorento is quicker and much more nimble than the Telluride. These two Kias offer very distinct choices! Both great imo!

Great video Sam. You cannot deny your reaction when you first hit the gas...it’s good to see performance in this segment. I have a 3 row. Two kids and a wife (before she left me). Used the 3rd row when Grandma needed to come with us at times. It was only used on occasion, which was perfect. But with the 3rd row down, I loved the cargo room. I’m going to test drive this model.

With the third row up you can stack shopping bags from the grocery store without them moving around all over in a bigger trunk. And of course if you want more space you just bring the third row down.

Thanks for the nice review Sam. Looks like the Canadian model is better equipped than the American model. Still not as good as the Korean spec model. We also get quilted Napa leather, a beautiful two tone steering wheel, and the rotary shifter that adds "smaht pahk". I really love this new Sorento!

For someone looking to upgrade my 2016 Sorento ( wich I really like ), I cannot find a review that can show en me if the price difference is worth it between a KIA/ Hyundai or a Lexus, Acura or even a German car...

Contrary to the comment in the review, as far as I know all Sorentos sold in Canada are AWD. That's understandable considering most of Canada's winter climate where AWD is a far more popular configuration than in the US. Furthermore, coupling the more powerful turbo engine with FWD is not necessarily a good choice anyway since the prodigious torque is difficult to manage without significant torque steer and wheel hop in a front wheel drive configuration. Unfortunately, some of the other differences between Canadian and US spec Sorentos are more difficult to understand as anything other than cost cutting measures. The thigh extension for the driver offered in the previous generation has been dropped in the US version of the Sorento. Four way lumbar support is likewise gone, reduced to two way. The most grievous deletion in the US version, however, is driver seat memory. Our 2018 Sorento is driven by my wife, my teenage daughter, and myself. Having settings for at least two drivers is more than a minor feature. Its deletion in the US spec of the new generation comes close to a deal breaker and is especially puzzling in a "family" SUV. All in all the two Sorentos my family has owned (2012 and 2018) have been "Goldilocks" vehicles for us. The same overall size as the Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe, and the Honda Passport, the third row of the Sorento is usually stored under the cargo floor but when we need it to transport six or seven passengers for a local trip it's a huge convenience compared to taking two vehicles. The fact that the US version is missing a number of features available in Korea is understandable considering that in Asia the Sorento doesn't compete against either the Telluride (sold almost exclusively in North America) nor does it face significant competition from Honda, Toyota, Nissan, or so-called "American" brands. (e.g. Ford, Chevy, Jeep/Dodge). In effect, in Korea the Sorento's rivals are base level versions of luxury brands. More puzzling is why the Canadian spec Sorento offers a number of premium features missing from the US version.
