Who uses an infotainment system when you have CarPlay? Everyone use carplay instead of the car navigation these times.

I can't, for the life of me, see how there is $800 worth of activity in an EV service. Anyone have a clue what drives that price?

As I understand it the services are every 24 months so that is $400 per year. And the technicians need to take care as the high voltage system is 450 volts. But electric cars are complicated. Have a look at this video by Professor John D. Kelly explaining the workings of the Chevrolet Bolt. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-r37nqfnV9EU.html

The vehicles only maintenance: Cabin filter change every 2 years. Brake fluid change every 3 years. Battery coolant change every 4 years. The actual prices quoted by dealer are: $168 first year (which is essentially an inspection only), $271 (inspection and cabin filter), 3rd year $281 (inspection and brake fluid) and $827 4th year (inspection and battery coolant system flush and replacement). The battery coolant replacement seems to involve a rather difficult disassembly at the under carrage to access some coolant filters/valves that are replaced with the coolant. Now are these prices expensive? I would say... No. That is just the absurd pricing in Australia. Ultra Tune just quoted me $240 for oil change and inspection on a 15 year old car, wouldn't even be a 30 minute job.

Thank you for the reviews, very honest, we have had our MG zs ev for 4 months now, love it, so fun to drive. On road trips use economy mode for extra range and found little less sporty , but still quite acceptable , and corners quite well with low center of gravity.

Had mine for about 6 months too and can agree with the assessments. Infotainment is meh but Android Auto is fine. Highway driving not efficient but we still managed a road trip of country Vic plus Canberra and coastal NSW and there are enough rapids on the highway, plus hotels are usually nice enough to let you slow charge overnight. Regarding the 'thought we started charging but didnt', you can get an ovms box and can monitor the charging from yr phone, and make sure it has actually started.

How much to charge a full charge approx ? Please share
@konoutro

@@harleywilson4747 Hi Hayley, a lot of the public chargers are still free or you pay for parking costs instead. In my road trip, the ones I still had to pay for were between $5 to $14 depending on how full the battery was. At home, I'm just paying my electricity cost so say 25c per kW and a 44kWh battery so $11 per charge (if it was totally empty). Around the city I rarely let it run empty, usually charge again when there is < 100km left (40%), and for my use that's usually every 1.5 to 2 weeks. I bought a fast charger for home and it only takes a few hours to get back to 100%, but before I had that I'd just plug it into the regular wall socket when I got home and let it slow charge overnight

How about this servicing they mention? I was looking at a Tesla andlooking to basically not service it. Air filters every x ks is all.

The real problem with this car is that for just 25% more you can buy a Tesla model 3, which will have insanely more resale value, and twice the range, actually more storage.

I don't understand why 250/260km at one charge is classified as short range, how long does an average driver go on the motorway before taking a pee break? The range of this car is more than enough. You stop for about 40mins for a 500km trip. Not bad I will say.

Wonderful informative and positive video! I really really like this car for its price point. I drove it for a week in Australia and loved it; apart from some of the software niggles and satnav mistakes. As a Tesla owner, I think the MG ZS EV is value-for-money and has features that even my Model S does not have such as the blindspot indicators on the wing mirrors, great all-round visibility, heated seats, and rear window wiper. Also, the 7-year full warranty is fantastic! I consider the MG ZS EV to be an ideal second EV for me; and I also recommend it to anyone who is considering an affordable family EV.

Had mine for 9month with 3 issued so far. 1st month the infotainment unit completely blacked out. Warranty repaired. 3rd month the car making whirring noises from one of the rear wheels. Bearing failed. Warranty repaired. 7th month the battery lasted around 150km on a full charge . Now still in service waiting for battery to arrive and nothing to drive. End of it. What a unreliable car. Huge regret getting this car. Going back to patrol car.

Hardly long term for a car. In my opinion, that's a barely worn in car. Once the warranty is over and maybe a year. Then it's officially long term

It offers great value for money and without it I wouldn't be driving an EV as they are all out of my price range. I've had it almost a year now and despite a couple of niggles and a few quirks I can't complain. I have it in blue and it is a great colour. In the UK it is known as pimlico blue

EV price is under inflation, a weak drive range, waste of hours recharge and can't tow a trailer and a caravan then go take the bus and train done dirt cheap and safe public transport.

The longest I drive is to Brisbane which is just over 100kms. 260km doesn't seem too bad, considering other EVs are $20000 more for an extra 100Km. The model 3 for example is from $64000

Nice car.....In my country this model (Luxury) is 55000 AUD. Still it's the cheapest electric vehicle....So the adoptation of electric vehicles is slow....But hey, seems that's what the government wants... (To make us keep our old 10+ years old diesel and petrol cars until they have been run into the ground).

Depends on where you are. There are actually quite a few free chargers around and the small battery means it doesn’t take to long to charge. Half an hour from 20% to 80% and do the shopping while it’s charging for free. Plus they are normally premium car parks

Thank you. A good review. It really is something of a ground-breaking car in that it moves electric vehicle ownership closer to the average buyer. It is a good, second, city car. If I had been designing it for Australia I would have omitted the sunroof and put shading on the top of the front windscreen. I would have preferred slightly softer cloth seats and more adjustments on the front seats and the steering wheel. (The seating is ok though.) Also, it has road speed sign reading software but I find it hard to read the speed dial because of the steering wheel and low placement of the instrument panel out of my field of vision when looking at the road. Also, it would be nice if MG fixed it so the car does not default to normal mode each time it is turned on but remembered the last selected mode. It would have been nicer to have had a simple marked 180 or 270 degree dial for the air conditioning. As one reviewer described it, the car is "quirky". If buying, make sure the dealer puts a slimline number plate on the front to avoid any possibility of the number plate interfering with the front radar. These, however, are quibbles and not deal breakers. The way the car rides and handles are very satisfying for city driving and it is fine on the freeway for city trips. I have only had mine for about 550 km but it gives the feeling of being very well put together and solid. I do not do a big mileage and simply plug it into a 10A wall socket overnight every four or five days. As far as I can make out, in Australia, it is by far the best deal for those wanting to switch to electric within a reasonable price.

Coffee cups - come on - a bit picky add say! I never drink and drive and I never do any drive ins like McDonalds! You have a house - use it! If you have to have a coffee when driving - make your own from home which fits your compartment - you don't need two cups as illustrated in your blog! The world is going lazy in purchasing food and drink outwith their homes! I see queue's a mile long in cars waiting to be served at a McDonalds - what a waste of time and fuel!

I just can’t trust these reviews when you have mechanics like @motive_mechanical admitting they got cease and desist letters sent to them by MG for criticising their cars. How many of these reviews are just going soft on manufacturers like MG cause they don’t want to lose out on being able to review future cars or legal action from that manufacture?
