Hey Sam, thanks for letting me participate! I enjoyed the experience, and, as it was my first time drag racing the RC-F...I clearly made a few mistakes 😅. It was all in good fun though! I know the RC-F is a GT and not really meant to be drag raced, and i knew that i was going to lose going into this. If it had a supercharger from RR Racing, I think it would have fared better. After five or so years of ownership, I'm still in love with the NA V8 soundtrack of the RC-F and would not trade it for any other car in its class.
Bro u made us look VERY bad...Why would u race a supra knowing u dont know how to race and knowing he would put it on youtube..Smh...now u got all the haters hating smh cmon bro lol and u should know how to drive if u had this car for 5 years terrible shifting bro 🤦♂️ You should have let Sam drive or something
Nah if you had the RR Racing supercharger the Supra would've got walked, but even in stock form you were supposed to hang way closer maybe not win but way closer race. Why you launch in 2nd gear ??
@@wileoutunorthodox3479 Lol bro with that kind of driving I don't even think the supercharger could save him 🤦♂️ power means nothing if you don't know how to use it.
@@christopherdaniel2747 hell yeah the Aero slows it down my RCF only has bolt ons no exterior stupid aero mods and smokes the hell out of 3.0 supras smh 🤦🏻♂️ this dude was a garbage driver on top of that .
Such a travesty to see hatred towards RCF. It does not deserve it at all ("RCF is slow as cr*p"). Well, I run 12.0 - 12.2 seconds with only 2 bolt-ons on my draggy. Being an owner of 5+ years, it totally does not deserve it. My RCF surprises a lot of people all the time. The RCF owner himself said it was his first time ever doing a race and trying to use RCF in this capacity. He is a novice. It is apparent in the video there were critical errors. Going from a dead stop in 2nd gear at 7:45. I mean WHAT? I have never seen anyone going into 2nd gear right at launch. I own an RCF and hang out with Toyota Supra A90 guys and other Lexus/Toyota guys. The RCF in the hands of a capable driver, is very close in a straight line especially from a rolling start 50 mph in 2nd gear. There are many videos on it as well where RCFs are hanging close to Juicebox tuned Supras with just a couple of bolt ons. It is on youtube. I even beat A90 Supras a few times especially from 2nd gear 50 mph roll. Driver is the biggest part of the equation. A 30 mph (50 km/h roll) would never work in 2nd gear like in this video for a naturally aspirated car like RCF where you need to be in the right gear since there is no torque swell like turbo cars. You need 1st gear at 30 mph in the RCF or do it from 40 - 50 mph in 2nd gear. That is how the ratios are designed for the RCF. To maximize torque through the gears since it is a high-revving engine.
@@suprastar8428 That is a different car, You have turbo, lightweight and loads of midrange torque with the two turbos on it. RCF is all about N/A power and high rpms as it revs almost 1000 rpm higher. Try that in the RCF and it goes nowhere because of midrange and tall gearing of the 2nd gear (2nd gear goes to 75 mph). Completely different compared to an RCF which is all driven by rpms and high rpm power being a N/A engine. Only 1st gear launch would get a 0-60 mph in around 4 seconds. A 2nd gear start from a dead stop would result in a 5.5 - 6 seconds 0-60 mph in an RCF if you are lucky. I might make a video on it showing the difference.
I smoke 3.0 Supras all day in my 2016 RCF idk what the hell this dude was doing smh and those hideous aero pieces don’t help anything. That dude is an embarrassment no joke . I’ve out launched Supras at high altitude corses which is better for turbo vehicles. I can’t imagine what he was doing with his gears or in manual mode to f up that race like that ??? Supras do give me a good run but who knows why he as getting gapped so bad . Bet he has heavy ass cheap aftermarket wheels shit tires didn’t turn off traction cheap lowering springs instead of actual full suspension can’t drive and all the aero for nothing lol. Damn shame !
Where the hell did you find the driver of the RC-F ? JESUS he sucks at racing. That's the most pathetic driving and shifting I've ever seen. He's a disgrace to the men in racing. I think it's safe to say that us men want to trade him to the women's side.
@@aus10li my 16 gsf is fbo and tuned on e30 it made 490whp on california 91 octane on a hot ass 90 degree day. Im sure I would break the 500whp mark on a cold day. Also have raced fbo m340i’s (Same engine as supra) and have beat em. Not by alot but still beat em from dig and roll. just goes to show how bad this rcf driver is lol.
Doesn't seem like the RCF owner has ever raced his car lol... Dude was shifting early constantly and going from a roll in the wrong gear 🤦♂️ and even shifted into 2nd gear instantly off the dig at 7:42... Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the RCF would win but it would 100% be much closer if driven properly. These are the kind of drivers that make the RCF look MUCH slower than it actually is.
@@SEANWILLIAMS45 that Rc-f has more potential than you think. Those things are quick with some mods, the gearing is very good. The Supra is quick, don’t get me wrong. I just think it’s a little overrated (like like the Mk4). You should look into some fbo & tuned Isf’s and rcf’s, they are more impressive than one might think. Of course it won’t be as quick as a Supra with the same mods, they are completely different cars
As a Lexus fan, I can say that drag races don't matter as much as the shear driving experience in a naturally aspir.... Never mind. Lexus got it's ass handed to it. Properly. Great video Sam. Thanks.
I know the rcf would still lose, but why's he shifting so early in manual mode? They're quicker in manual mode if you shift right before it hits limiter. Nice runs though, always loved the RCF🔥!
Thats the main problem with people and the Lexus F cars, they dont know to drive it at all. Best settings is traction control fully disable (pedal dance), diff in track and engine in sport/sport plus manual and you good
@@davidwade7681 that Supra you beat must have been the 4 cylinder 2.0 Supra...lol. The 3.0 Supra is just faster than the Lexus RC F....period.. I owned both so I would know.
Great vid Sam! That Supra is worth the money! Incredible car for the price range, as it punches way above its monetary value. Happy Holidays to you and your family sir!
Surprisingly, it’s not. I’ve owned 2 Supra’s 21 and 22 but had a lot of issues. Toyota has a hard time fixing them since they’re BMW. They need to cut their partnership and just make it themselves.
@@TurkeyWilliams the first one the engine failed and it was consuming way too much oil so they replaced the engine. The 22’ it had a drivetrain issue and needed a new ECU.. after the new ECU from Germany came the car rejected it. I didn’t mod or race either one.
@@Soccerplr87 no issues with my 21 model. Mine is tuned with a down pipe at 450 hp wheel for 20k miles now and no problem whatsoever. A few of the 21s did have oil consumption problems due to the retune from the 20 model but the 22+ models have don’t that issue anymore. It just takes Toyota/BMW time to tweak out the bugs since it’s a new platform for them.
Lexus Quarter mile- 12.7 Supra Quarter mile- 12.3 Clearly the Supra is faster regardless of Driver error, it just so happens the driver in the Lexus was making more mistakes.
I think the F should’ve done a little better. He was short shifting it. Not to mention the aero probably slowed it down for drag racing. Either way I know the Supra would’ve won tho 😂
I agree, it should have if i pushed it harder, but as you said, the supra still would have won due to weight advantage, turbos, and (imo) the faster gearbox compared to the RC-F's torque converter setup.
@@MrJeager the Supra also has a torque converter setup, it’s just faster though ZF8 But yeah the F wasn’t in the hands of a competent driver who knows where the power band lies and when to shift
The first run was the only clean one where both of them were neck and neck at the finish line. Rest of them had something getting botched. 2nd one according to the owner himself, botched launch and he started in 2nd at 7:46 in the guage cluster you can see 2 (most likely TC upshifted to 2nd to stop wheel spin), the roll race in 2nd gear at 50 km/h is the wrong gear because 1st gear goes to 85 km/h and in a car that revs as high as the RCF and does not have turbo torque at the low end, needs to be in the proper gear to maximize the torque and 2nd gear at 50 km/h is only at 3000 rpm. His brakes were also failing, which is why he was letting off much sooner because of fear of crashing the car. Basically, the brake issues after the 1st clean run plagued everything else.
My thoughts exactly, rolling in 2nd at 50km is asking to get bussed. Needs to be rolling at 5500rpm range, they love to rev. He was also shifting so early you could hear it die down more and more each shift.
@@RevsALot Yes, that is true. 2nd gear at 50 km/h has no power. Way too tall for a 50 km/h roll at only 3000 rpm. The Supra revs to about 6500 rpm, but it has tons of midrange torque. 1st gear goes to 85 km/h. 2nd to 119 km/h. 1st gear puts it exactly the perfect rpm of around 5500 rpm. Unfortunately, the RCF did not get a fair shot. The owner is also shifting way early. Not sure why because he does not know it needs to be revved up to 7300 rpm for maximum power or just giving up due to the brake issues.
@@2ZZGE100 exactly, ppl that know these engines/cars will know this👍. It's like an NA Honda roll racing out of vtec and short shifting so drops out of vtec, it just doesn't work😂.
@@RevsALot Yes, that is true. As long as the roll starts from 5000 - 5500 rpm, it will be in the optimal gear. I came from a similar 2ZZ-GE engine so I knew exactly how to drive high-revving engines so I can do so much better than this guy. Too bad, Sam is in Ontario and I am in Alberta otherwise, I would take mine in and put on a show.
A new Supra is almost impossible to get u can't even order one bro.. so instead I ordered a 2022 m240i xdrive.. if I was you look into that it's prolly faster
@@dylandacasual6866 yeah its not a supra tho, id go for the rc-f. Seen on in person in Ontario. Under a dozen for sale in the whole country. Id love to own one as well.
Can't wait to see the race 😆 Exactly what mods does the RC-F have? Can you have the owner list it? Some people claim it's lightly modded but it actually has more mods than claimed...and same for those that claim it's pretty much stock when it is actually modded. I would like to see people be honest with the cars they bring... Things like removing the owners manual, floor mats, removing the spare tire, 93 octane gas I can accept as "stock" but not more than that... Using lightweight wheels and tires, intake, exhaust, stripping the interior (😁), carbon fiber transmission rod, etc are not considered stock.
@@NewDesignVinylGraphics Not necessarily true cause Jesus told me that white Civic Type-R raced against the Veloster N DCT was not stock (power wise) when in video it was said stock (or stock'ish). Sam cannot know the whole truth cause the owners of their cars aren't entirely honest what they did to their's...
@@davidwade7681 samlegion did a 5.0 10speed vs 2021 GR. GR took the win, though the mustang did ever so slightly start creeping up but it was nowhere near destroying it... also remember the 2021 supra is quite a bit faster than the 2020
@@MuzicNinja That's kinda the point though, the fact he was able to lose by such a larger than real world margin while using full auto highlights his inability to race xD
Supra would win no matter what..but would have been a better race with a different driver in the Lexus. Started in 2nd from a dig race and short shifted most of the other ones. Drive the thing 😂
RCF owner was too afraid of its power and too interested in aero and appearance. it looks amazing and I’ll give him credit for that. Low gear rolls, not letting it live in its power range screaming at 7300rpm. It’s a much more even comparison to the Supra than this video shows due to the driver of the RCF. Thank you for the content, consider fixing this video by letting the narrator run both cars. 👎
Very disappointed in this video. Yes the Supra is faster but the RCF driver clearly does not know how to drive his car. Shifting super early. Spend all that money on Aerodynamics but cant drive 🤦♂️No way will a Supra beat a RCF this bad UNLESS the Supra is TUNED and has other mods...The RCF driver literally is drifting at 5,000-6,000RPM lmfaooo what Was he thinking? Smh THUMBS down..Maybe he should have let someone else drive his car... Terrible representation for RCF owners SMH
Dude i'm over here trying to defend the people from trashing on it because of this owners driving lol.. So many RCF vids on youtube have driver like this that make the cars look much slower than they really are.
Can we get clarification, was the RCF in Sport+ or just Sport? Kinda makes a HUGE difference. I am not positive but I think it takes manual mode and Sport+ for the torque converter to engage.
@@paulbeasley1784 no it doesn’t! I own a 21 Supra and a 21 Lexus IS 350f, the Lexus is way slower than the Supra but will still smoke a civic, the is 350 is neck to neck with a type R on the quarter mile. Plus the v8 RCF is on a different league compare to the 3.5 is 350!
Exactly. Let people talk shit. If they don’t like it then they don’t need to buy it. But they shouldn’t be talking shit of others who like it. Everyone has their preference.
The driver of the RCF could use a little more practice. I think the race would have been closer if he actually went to redline. As a previous owner of the IS-F, he should have been going to redline in manual mode for best performance. Right up to when it “beeps”, I never saw the shift lights either. The 40km roll, he should have been on 1st gear. With the N/A power, he should have leaped out ahead with the car in the right power band. Good race either way. I’m a BMW fan boy, but I wanted to see the Lexus put up a decent fight.
According to the intro, the Lexus has a slight edge over the Supra on power to weight. I am guessing here that what really made the difference in this race was the gearing. I've seen these Supras win a LOT of these RU-vid races. They're just geared toward racing, it seems.
Even using the basic specifications the supra is faster. The rcf 0-60 is claimed to be 4.0 seconds. The Supra is rated 3.7 seconds. It continues all the way down the line
If Toyota Follows their tradition of FITTING the same performance into the Lexus vehicles as with the Toyota model, then we would/should have 3.0L BMW B58 Engine in the RCFs and will probably selling like Hot cakes, but what do these Board of Directors know anything other just money
That is hands down embarrassing that Lexus underpowers that F like that . Supercharging from RR Racing introducing countless more points of failure and non sense not to mention paying probably 15K by the time its done. You may as well keep that RCF and RR racing money and buy a TEsla model S plaid. - Same cost in the end and then damn near no one on the road will beat you. But Toyota needs to get it together man. Power that car properly. Slow ass in its class. M4 is faster, c63 AMG is , etc etc
Why do people get so upset? This guy is notorious for being the worst driver on RU-vid with every car him and buddies are in. He's scared to break them so he babies them. His video needs to be viewed as entertainment and not to be taken seriously at all. 😂
I remember anxiously waiting for the full specs of the 2015 RCF back when the production version was unveiled and was greatly disappointed with its curb weight and its overall performance which deterred me from buying one. Thankfully the GR Supra is a fantastic sports car for the money and it's been a phenomenal car to own and drive the past year. With such a great tuning potential, I'm looking forward to extracting more power out of the Supra with a Pure800 upgrade.
Rcf stock engine with 150 lbs more weight added. And the RC owner in the races should have ran in manual mode each time to keep rpm up. The power is at 7100 rpm and torque 4900. So driving normally, not even near its power band is worthless.
Love the RCF but it’s just too heavy. It’s a great chassis and engine tho, which is why the em competed with lambos, Ferrari, Mclaren etc in GT3 racing
Toyota NEVER known for performance - BMW (Germany) will always beat them. Even the 86 is a Subaru engine. Want fun and performance? Don't get a Toyota.
whats going on with guy driving the lexus he has no idea what he is doing no disrespect but he was shftting early every gear and shifted out of 1st at like 3000 rpm.
I have a Supra (a white one also lol) and always wondered how close a race with an RCF would be. I was not expecting this at all, the B58 is something else 😳
Rcf are slow... the definition of all sound but no bark, I see this guy nearly everyday by my work but I already know how slow these cars are compared to the rest of the competition. Lexus has refused to make a proper F performance vehicle for years. It's nice they still have the N/A V8 but it's time for a change ... either add some turbos or use the TT V6 from the Lexus LS500 and tune it accordingly
The RCF was driven poorly bro. The RCF will walk away from a 2020 Supra stock vs stock and should have the upper hand against a 2021 Supra if the RCF had bolt ons like this RCF.
It burns that a RCF is a F car getting beat by a car thats technically designed to be beneath it .Supra is an amazing platform but the RCF continues to be the a great sounding car that doesnt have enough TQ weights too much and needs a better chassis. Granted a RR supercharger can greatly help it but i just want more out of the RCF and it just dissapoints beyond amazing sound.
