Owner of the trackhawk here, thanks for having me out Sam! That x5m was definitely a beast and I knew it would be a good race. A few weeks prior when we raced in the dark, I took it from the dig but it always seemed to catch up. Regardless, some great times out there. 🙌SVR is a beauty too.
It's illogical, those 200pounds more should affect launching (which did not), but the top end should be all trackhawk, but NEVER bmw with that gap between!! it's almost ONE HUNDRED HIRSEPOWER less, also less torque. It's not possible if your car got no technical issue which affect hardly the performance. Maybe you should check. OR.. maybe the bmw got a little bit performance remapping. Otherwise is not real that result.
@@napraznicul Weight is still relevant at higher speeds. Keep in mind also that those bmws typically Dyno around 700 crank hp and their claimed crank is closer to their whp. They are underrated. To the wheels the X5 is putting down more power than the Trackhawk. Trackhawks were never roll monsters to begin with either. A 5.0 mustang can just about run with one from a roll. Definitely worse aero on the Jeep as well.
What a blast we had. Kyle, Noah and Sam, always a pleasure. Owner of the X5 here. Car is not tuned or chipped. Traction control was never fully off, but in 2 of the 3 races, I did switch into MDM which allows for more wheel slip and drift angle. The first and final race the traction was fully on. (X5 took 2 of the 3 races, the difference being that I didn’t show Sam the “setup” button which lets you toggle sport plus engine mode, so he raced with the car in comfort mode). X5 is underrated from the factory, there’s no way it’s only making 617 hp 🤷🏻♂️ That Trackhawk is a beast though. It launches and puts like a car+ easily on the x5 before it gets reeled in.
Excellent race! The sound of the 3 crossing the finish line was pure music! No need to make excuses between the TH and the X5M, there's probably only a .2 difference at best at the finish line. They are sure to trade leads back and forth given optimum conditions, RT and launches.
@@covector4787 700hp for those American cars bmws are 500s and 600s Just put a stage 1 atleast on bmws and race with same horse power numbers Just watch how demons and red eye gets destroyed. Also m5cs 635hp already beats the red eye Also American cars still struggle to put the power down
@@moescolla Most likely or more. They also have efficient asf drive trains so that power is very much useful. High torque too. I own a regular x5 but god I wish I could even touch a x5m.
My dream vehicle is a Range Rover. A full size Range Rover and for that reason alone I'd choose the Range Rover Sport SVR just to be in the Land Rover brand
It still would have been much closer if the trackhawk was running in track mode. Owner said he kept it in sport due to his tires being bald. Track mode for us is like Sport Plus, D3 for BMW Guys lol
Trackhawk are impressive from the dig. However, a roll it would be a different outcome. Even without the BMW being in its most aggressive modes, it was reeling the Trackhawk back in.
@@eddiemcars the trackhawk and X5m are dead even from a roll if the X5 is in sport + and the trackhawk is in track mode times don't lie me and my friends X6M comp trap the exact same mph through the 1/4 mile and were dead even from a roll whoever gets the slight jump wins
@@THESLlCK the X5 comp won 2 out of 3 races. Therefor it’s quicker. Not to mention mod for mod the BMW will still embarrass the TH. If you think that BMW makes 617 to the crank you’re smoking that ⛽️
@@travismundog6598 i wouldnt be surprised if a good stage 1 could make that x5m produce 750hp. Those v8s are godly in those cars. I would so much rather have a m5, even as a person who currently drives a x5, just because a m5 cs wont deappreciate and will also fly and smoke any car but like a dodge demon maybe.
Why run with traction control on? The best performance for the Trackhawk in in Track mode with takes “traction control” off but leaves stability on. Probably why it looks like a short shift since traction control is dialing the power back on the shift. Run them each in their optimal modes if you want to be fair.
I can tell you first hand this is not right I own a Trackhawck since January of 2018 and my buddy owns the new X5M competition and another owns the Lamborghini Urus and neither one has EVER beat my Trackhawck I've seen other video's and they were showing the Trackhawck running a low 12 in the quarter and it just makes me laugh I have NEVER once ran a 12 in the quarter not even on the street when the Trackhawck has a perfect run it will run an 11.2 but will run 11.4 to 11.5 all day long so I don't know what's going on in some of these video's but I did notice they never used Launch control and when it's used right it's just an animal at 0-60 @ 3.2 seconds in perfect conditions but will run a 3.3 to 3.4 0-60 all day those are facts I've heard people say well there is no driving involved because it's all wheel drive but that's not true if you don't know how to use the Launch control correctly or put it in the right mode which sounds so simple and some small other thing's you will not get the best out of the Trackhawck. Having said all that do I believe the X5M comp. Would have passed the Trackhawck AFTER the quarter mile and around the 135 to 140 mph mark YES I DO that's the only thing about the Trackhawck where I get a little disappointed is they start to fall off alot in the higher speed but it's a big 5300lbs. Brick in the wind but it's still my favorite car I've ever owned and I've owned alot of car's.
Agreed! I'm owner of both. Track Hawk is by far the faster machine. X5m Comp is a beauty , however no match for the beast. Poor test Gents! Unless you intentionally planned on scrubbing power from the Hawk, via T.C being activated?
@@germanengineering204 Everybody has their own opinion on that but I can promise you this what that X5 will be worth in a few Year's won't even be close to what the Trackhawck will be worth and my Trackhawck had only been in the shop for oil changes and my Buddy's X5M Competition with 4K miles has been in the shop for multiple issue's.
I own a Trackhawk and an X5M Comp. The X5 is amazing in taking turns and just refined power and obviously luxury. The trackhawk is awesome it’s just raw power and the chairs are sofas and it handles pretty good too. It’s so hard to choose between the two. Both great machines
It’s interesting what Jeep has done with the chassis, given the standard Grand Cherokee with around a third of the power almost tipped over during a moose test.
Trackhawk looked like it shortshifted during the 2nd race, I think it would have been a similar result as to the first, maybe the X5 catching it much closer to the end or perhaps just edging it out. Regardless, that shortshift should have warranted another round :(
@@SamCarLegion We’ve all experienced a bad launch in a car before, must have just been something to throw it off. My car short shifts when there’s too much traction loss in the launch.
@@SamCarLegion We never said he, we said the Trackhawk did if you notice the 3:57 mark. Do you honestly think it’s not possible for an auto to short shift? I’ll try to ignore the fact you ran the X5M with the ac on.
Excuses. The M Comp would win in most situations, including on a roll. The only reason the Hawk won the first run because the M wasn't in Sports +. Sam literally explains it at the end. LOL! When the owner got in, game's over. LOL!
I’m not much of a car guy but the 2nd race it look like the trackhawk let off the gas a bit or something lol but then again I could be wrong. All 3 are dope 🔥
Whenever I watch these videos I think its so complicated all the modes and trac on/off, sport, sport plus, etc... nothing like some old school where you just step on it and it goes full throttle!
And wind farms are in the right place for this since they are incredibly horrible efficiency numbers...less than 30% efficient. So, i'd say they are in the right landscape.
@@zoopa999 yes. And don’t forget the hundreds of thousands of birds, etc that are slaughtered. For people who claim to want to protect the planet, they don’t mind destroying wildlife.
I think bmw have had the greatest end to the decade. The 2018-2020 M cars have dominated. The m5cs will go down as one of the greatest cars ever built and this x5M is a monster too. Amazing
The current Grand Cherokee is still one of the most handsome SUVs available today, even though it was designed over a decade ago. I really wish the newest generation carried over this same muscular surfacing
It kind of seems like the actual cars owners would do better and know how to operate the cars better than some friend. I know if I would let my car be in a "you tube" video race, I would be driving it instead of some other person not on my insurance policy and not as familiar with the vehicle as I am. I am beginning to doubt a lot of the freelance video races.
it’s not fair tbh it’s got little less punch plus all that weights. After all, it is a good car and I would choose it over all the suvs because of that sound
The SVR is at a sizable HP disadvantage, and it did not appear to be in dynamic mode which wont let it launch properly. Both are slightly faster than the SVR but not by that much.
Porsche Cayenne GT fuck all bmw… Which time all bmw in Nurburgring???)))) bmw shit!!! Faster, lighter bmw in history M5 CS sucks off heavy luxury sedans amg gt and panamera on the Nordburgring nordschleife
X5M all day everyday. Mindlblowing when you consider how much power the Germans tap out of that smaller displacement engine. The smallest of the bunch.
Another flaw with these people, when the guy said "I'm going to turn on the A/C just a little" Just a little? Once the A/C clutch is engaged no matter the blower speed it's still drawing the same amount of drag on the motor! 100% of credibility lost immediately. The fixing of the 2nd race was it, these people are absolutely full of shit.
I owned a Trackhawk and now an SVR. Trackhawk was simply too fast to be really enjoyed day to day. SVR has much more comfortable suspension and interior.
Buy the new one has the beemer engine though u may lose the sound that engine is a monster...the last of the gas as the government pushes evs every gallon at a time
Imma be honest, I still want the SVR lol. I just wanna get a stage 2 on it with a couple bolt ons. I don’t even care if its the slowest, it’s just such a sexy car
@@entreptiles nah, just get one now. You won't regret it, and if you already own a 2019 M5, you'll be amazed at how good the handling and performance of what an X5m Comp can do
I problem is with that 5.0 sc v8 in the rover is not having much to do to it besides a tune, exhaust, pulley. My buddies svr has a stage 2 tune, full exhaust, pulley and beat my hawk from a roll and kept up from launch by half car. Sounds amazing! Pops and crackles
@@Veyronp87 people just really don’t know how to drive it. Not saying it would win but wouldn’t get slaughtered like it always does. Roll is where it’s at. Have beaten F86 X6M in it and been very close to this new gen X6 too
@@laurent36 Bruh shift jare!!! SVR in all races I’ve seen have all lost. They’re heavy as hell and Range Rover don’t know how to maximize their engine powers. Bmw will and always will eat them for breakfast
@@GodsloveMuzik heavy as hell? It’s barely 5000 pounds on par with other SUV’s in the segment. And I’m telling you no one knows how to drive them. The X5M is undoubtedly faster. But not by as much as the vids make it seem
Just watched this video, and the second I watched the first run, I knew something was wrong. A lot of people think that just by pushing the sport or sport + mode button, the car will activate launch control and be on fully "sport or sport+ mode". But lets enjoy our last ICE vehicles while they last. 20 year from now they will be like NFT's.
After owning a trackhawk and currently drive the svr, the svr can’t brake boost, actually slows it down someone, u have to keep everything in sport mode and just mat it, now the svr has 575hp, hawk 700hp x5m 625hp… the rover feels much quicker in person that it shows on paper especially rolling, all bad ass SUVs, just sold my x5m and has the m50 aswell, amazing SUVs, but love my svr.
What exactly is BMW “full sport mode”? Did you mean Sport Plus? Sport Plus in M cars means DSC off which would be equivalent to Jeep’s track mode not sport. Was the Jeep in sport or track?
That’s not what it means. Sport plus in M cars is purely throttle and engine mapping. I had the car in MDM for the 2nd race and fully on for the 3rd race. (3rd race not shown). The only time the x5 lost was the first race because it was in comfort mode. You can change the engine, suspension, steering, brakes and traction settings independently.
This race wax fixed, as a trackhawk owner I can see the driver of the trackhawk was obviously manually shifting in the second race and badly shifting at that. The driver of the trackhawk was prematurely shifting through gears like crazy!!! Looks like he was shifting at 3k rpm when a stock trackhawk shifts at twice that, 6k rpm. Put ALL the vehicles in automatic mode and the trackhawk destroys both of these vehicles. This video as absolutely false and fake as hell.
@@SamCarLegion yea, at the unfairness of in this video. Whatever driver that was in the trackhawk intentionally sabotaged the race to make the jeep lose.
@@SamCarLegion you're telling me that the owner of the trackhawk was the driver during those races? Are you denying that as many other commenters have pointed out that that driver was short shifting like crazy?
@UCqwkuicDAc7pyjxqcDS4eEg read the own owners comment. He said they’ve even ran off camera other days a few times which means they’re both in their best settings, and admitted the X5M pulls on him up top.
