When I got mine I had a choice between a sport and a touring. Even though I could afford the touring one I opted to get the sport because I had a gut feeling that the 2.0 was gonna be more reliable. Guess I was right

All of my mechanic friends said the same thing. My powertrain engineer / mechanic brother pointed out that I maintained my 13 cruise echo and had zero issues for $140,000 mi, and it has a turbo. He said go for the one five, my dad pointed out that he bought his first new car back in the day and sacrificed on a bunch of options and paid it off quickly and then he did and he was like oh, wish I would have had those options. But man 11 months ago. I swear I went to bed with a headache every night making that decision between the awesome looking blacked out sport in blue or Sonic Gray, or trying to find the sport touring in a six-speed. Six-speed. Wow I don't miss all that stress involved with trying to find one, waiting for it to get built. I know I would be happy with a 2.0

My 2018 (10th gen) 1.5 liter turbo CVT bought new currently has 140,800 miles averaging 36.2 mpg. Other than the AC failure at approx 118,000 (under extended warranty for known issue) I’ve had no problems. The most expensive maintenance I’ve done so far were replacing the brake pads, rotors, tires, and the water pump, drive belt and PCV. I maintain religiously and plan to keep my 10th gen until the “wheels fall off”.

Thank you for the video. I got mine last year, the finishing is poor, tick sound from dashboard and infotainment, took it to dealership 3 times but still the same, saying that these are inevitable or whatever. We placed some felt tape around the gap and problem solved. There was one day that almsot all warning lights up one by one, parking brake cannot be released, towed it to the dealership, they said the battery had some issue, got replaced, after 1-2 days later, the car won't start and the weird sound come up again when brake pedal was pressed. It was drivable so we took it to the dealership and they changed some kind of module. My father had 2008 accord and even until now he had no issues at all, accord and civic is different model but I am so disappointed with Honda, will never buy it again. We had loaner car from dealership (hatchback) while the module was replaced, the car was making so loud rattle sound. Sadly it is so hard to buy a new car now so we will wait until this supply issue is over, which will take several years probably

Hey sorry about your experience with your car. First year models tend to be pretty problematic until all the kinks are worked out. Little bit of wear on the leather seat on the side closest to the driver side door from me getting in and out of it a million times a day. Planning to buy a 2023 Honda Civic Sport touring, and with it being new not to worried about it. If it becomes a larger issue, Honda will recall it anyways. But always good to know of the issues beforehand. I will add, to anyone buying a Si or any of the 1.5t thinking they are going to mod the heck out of these Civic's. Please don't do it!!! The L15 is a economy engine which isn't really built correctly to turn out 250HP+ performance. There are tons of video's of folks modifying these 11th gens and blowing head gaskets and all. Just save up and buy a K20c engine car, like a 2.0t Accord or Type-R (if you can swing the $40k). The L15 cannot handle the added power like the K20C's can. So save your self the heart ache. Even the 10th Gen civics' are know to not handle modifying much. Just remember this is a nice $30k car that can get 40 MPG, and has a little pep. The stock L15 internals' are not built to handle more power then maybe a light tune and a few bolt-ons, and in some cases that is pushing it.

I’ve had CRVs since 2012, never had an engine problem, had a 2010 which was the 2.4L, 2016 same engine, 2020 which has the 1.5T. Very noticeable fuel economy improvement with the Turbo. I often use 91 or 93 octane fuel. There was an oil dilution problem in 2017-2018 but that is not an issue with my 1.5T, I have 75K on it now. Also, the 1.5T was available in 2016 on the Touring model only so it’s worth the wait to just get the trim you want. Don’t worry all these car technologies will eventually become standard. There was a time when power windows were a luxury feature, air conditioning too. I know a lot of people like the non-aspirated engines but if you live in a cold climate it sure is nice how quickly they warm up. It takes me about 3 minutes in very cold weather for the car to warm up, my 2.4L took about 8-10 minutes on a cold day. Best feature ever… I only need 10 minutes to get to work and now you can use remote start if you want, or just drive and you’re able to use the heater…. @@BCautosolutions I was planning on getting a Boost Blue Pearl Civic Sport Hatchback, but now looking at getting an Urban Grey Pearl HR-V Sport FWD. I've in Honolulu. HI so don't need the FWD, the sbout 1 second slower acceleration speeds and extra $1500 and potential more maintenance cost diwn the road. With selected OEM and aftermarket accessories, nice legal smoke tint windows, a Rockford Punch 600 watt amp, Punch Dpeakers and msybe a powered subwoofer, it would be pretty nice. K-Tuner has a hop up kit for the Civic N/A 2.0L engine to bring it up to non Si 1.5L turbo engine power and torque. If the tweak and Cali rate it for the HR-V Sport, you would have the extra power on demand without the turbo related problems. That was the number one complaint by people, as not having enough power, often without even driving it. Just like the suspension and steering on the Sport is lighter than the Civic, because most buyers eould want more comfort in the HR-V as opposed to a Civic. But aftermarket companies like Eibach could come out with stiffer springs and sway bars for better handling. Another big plus for the new HR-V. No auto start/stop feature. Yay!

@@BCautosolutions The previous HR-V was good, but it was a bigger Fit. The main problem was that it was underpowered. At least the Sport should have had the 2.0L. Now it does. To me it's adequate for what it is. All these keyboards warriors seem to think everything has to have a lot of power. This is not a Civic. It's an compact SUV with lots of improvements. Remember, even the previous performance version of the Corolla and Civic were sbout 130 horsepower or less before that. People don't understand the perspective of a car company. They primarily mske transportation conveyances, and want to make some profit. The rest is secondary, though they would lije to come out with vehicles people woukd lije, ut realistically, it would cost a lot more to put all they want in it, or certain things at initial launch. I know exactly what I would do to make a performance HR-V, but it's not gonna happen, because it would overshadow the Civic Si. Basically, I would start withba Civic Sport Touring Hatchback type upgrades to the Sport in AWD with similar Suspension, brake and drivetrain upgrades from the Si, with the LSD, but put in the detuned Type R 2.0L Turbo engine to get about 260-280 horsepower. That would be way more than enough without encroaching into Type R territory from the factory.

My 2022 Civic camera LKAS system will constantly pull the car pretty hard to the right and then the Lane Departure system will shake the steering wheel as the car is trying to pull itself out of the lane. Basically renders the entire system useless as it's harder to fight the LKAS system to keep the car centered than it is to just drive regularly. The LKAS system gets so close (often goes completely over the lane lines into the right lane) to the right lane line that many times, I would sideswipe a vehicle if I do not constantly apply a decent amount of pressure on the steering wheel to steer to the left. I do a lot of highway driving so this is a large problem to me. I informed my Honda Dealership about this issue and they test drove the car. The mechanic came to the same conclusion, but did not recalibrate or replace the camera. Instead, they told me the car is supposed to pull to the right. I have experience with several Hondas including the last generation LKAS system, and none have ever pulled out of the lane like the 2022 Civic I have does. While yes, ping pong is mostly gone in the new system, the forced lane departure is much worse. Also, I noticed that the climate control which goes from "LO" to "HI" operates strangely. From Lo to about 85, cold air usually comes out of the vents. At 86, slightly warmer air comes out, and at Hi, very hot air comes out. I would have figured there would be more of a mix in temperature instead of going from cold air to very hot with just one increase on the control. To sum the last part up, I can never find a comfortable temperature on the 2022 Civic climate control, but rather have to keep switching between cold and hot or adjust the fan speed to utilize the sun to heat my car through the windows and use low fan speed ac to cool it to a comfortable temperature.
@BCautosolutions

Yeah I do like the lane keep assist at all and find it rather annoying and turn them off on all my Hondas/acuras. I recently bought civic hatchback sport 2023 with 1.5 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder. 1st week was fine. Now I'm in my 2nd my week, I gave my car to Honda dealership for dashcam (front & rear) installation. They took about 4-5 hours for that. Since the release after installation, my car feels funny when I drive. Doesn't sound premium. It suddenly started making slight noise when I push throttle and try to catch up the speed. I thought I was being paranoid, perhaps it's because turbo engine usually makes noise but Before, the cabin used to be quieter, I'd barely hear any noise but now it feels like engine is trying harder to reach to that speed. I want to know if this is how it's supposed to be or is there really a problem? I've had more issues with my 50K 2021 Audi than I've had with my 22 st and I've put about 15k miles on it. The new engines are not engineering nightmares, they're reliable and statistically have less problems and are rated higher than many similar brands and engines out there. A quick google search will show you that. Don't be fooled into buying a 2.0 for reliability reasons.
@BCautosolutions
@BCautosolutions Год назад
Although I do agree with you that vw and Germans overall will be more problematic, Hondas 1.5t has plenty of issues. I work for Honda, I see these issues first hand. Most people reviewing these cars have no damn clue about long term longevity issues which once again there is plenty of. Injectors, turbos, head gaskets, slipping clutches, rodent damage (not Hondas fault but it’s a thing mainly on the 1.5 not the 2.0) most of these “non issues according to your quick google search” happen at an unacceptable low mileage.
@Greeneggsandham3
@Greeneggsandham3 Год назад
@@BCautosolutions Sure it has issues, every engine I can think of has issues. Of course your stat view is admittably a bit biased though since you work at Honda, you're going to see more Honda issues. While the 2.0 is indeed more reliable as most NA are, the 1.5 is still extremely reliable and nothing to shy from. I did some pretty extensive research on these not too long ago when I purchased my st and while I'm no Honda mechanic I am a ME and understand (mostly) the RCA of most of their issues and most are far from being unacceptable from an engineering standpoint. I only said the 'quick Google search' bit since that's what most people can easily do to look up specs or stats for themselves. TLDR: I'm familiar with engines, cars in general and very indecisive since studying so after researching I settled on the 1.5 st as my commuter since I found it to be the best 'bang for the buck'.
@BCautosolutions
@BCautosolutions Год назад
@@Greeneggsandham3 my opinions is not biased. The 2.0t found in the accord and Rdx has far less issues, the only 1.5t is a mess. I would still get it for me over the na 2.0 but I would know what I’m walking into. I’m simply making people aware that long term the 1.5t will have tons of issues that the na 2.0 will not. Don’t believe me, great. I’ve done 12 head gaskets on rhe 1.5t in the last year alone, in my dealer a total of about 20. If that’s not eye brow raising I’m not sure what is. This is a growing trend across dealers.

Thanks for this video. My lease on my 2020 Civic Sport Hatchback is ending next March so I'm starting to explore options for what's next. I really want to stick with a manual transmission, so my options are limited. I'm thinking to perhaps just buy my current car at the end of the lease given the crazy market with low inventory inflated prices all over for the 2022 Civic Sport Hatchback MT, Sport Touring MT, and Si. At the same time, given my life circumstances, leasing is a good option right now to keep more cash around and also since I may want/need a different type of car in a few years. What are your thoughts or suggestions on whether to stick with my current car or jump into a new lease? If a new lease, which car would you recommend? Do you think waiting for the 2023s will help with avoiding some of the issues? Thanks in advance!
@BCautosolutions
@BCautosolutions Год назад
The 2023 model will have most kinks worked out by then with the exception of the 1.5t potential/probably head gasket failures long term. That won’t change ever because it’s simply a design flaw imo. With how everything is I would say buy your car out and get the extended warranty (Honda care) none of the aftermarket ones. Hope this helps.

@@BCautosolutions This definitely helps, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be buying the car out. How much can I expect to pay for the Honda Care warranty? Should I work with a dealership to purchase that? Either 2.0s are fine. The 2.0t will be a lot more powerful and non comparable to the civic 2.0 na. I would personally get the accord 2.0t just becuase I like the pep, but for fuel economy deff the civic.

The 2.0 Civic gets pretty terrible MPG from my experience of regular highway miles. I get about 32.9mpg so about 33mpg highway. The 10th gen under the same driving situations and the same 2.0 engine can reach 36mpg. The 2.0t Accord my friend has gets very similar gas milage to my 11th gen Civic with the 2.0. Also, the Accord is a much more fun car, but you pay a lot more for it.

They got rid of Sirius xm, weird vents that don’t fit ANY of the clip on scents, and the phone/Bluetooth CONSTANTLY disconnects for literally no reason. 2021 was the best year. @@ReiCecilio yeah so I think long term (since your buying) the ex turbo model will be more costly and well and have more downtime in the shop. I should note that the rodent issue seems to be primary up north in the colder months but the headgasket issue seems to appear all year round. Now some dealers are reporting that they aren’t seeing any headgakset failures (I think they are just going undetected imo) but they are 100% failing at an abnormal rate.
