Hey everyone. We just had a quick moment of Clarity. Karston was pretty Beat when editing this because he just got his second vaccine. Woo! The downside is we did mislabel the Corolla and the Mazda3 in the rear seat space comparison. For those who noticed, thank you!
@@itsallrobbish A similar case in India too. The Civic in India was never an affordable buy for the citizens. Honda sells a cheaper and smaller version of the Civic called "City" in quite a few countries, and it costs half a Civic. It looks like the Civic will be out of the average buyer's reach with this new update
@@1301407gl We asked for a mid engine Corvette, it's sold out. We wanted a new Supra, they gave us a BMW. I imagine the new Z car will do fine for itself, I may even get one myself.
Idk what everyone is up and arms about. It looks good and so does the Accord. It’s not as exciting as it’s Korean competitors but it looks better than the rest of the competition except the Sentra. Unlike both the Sentra and the Hyundai/Kia, this Honda might be able to do 150k without some major engine issue because Honda doesn’t put all their money into design and untested tech for marketing reasons and drain their quality control department like Hyundai did. It seems that if a car is super super sexy or interesting, it just has to be unreliable no matter who is making it which is a shame. Also the old Civic hatch looked like they hired a bunch of acne covered high school boys to design it.
I really like the interior of this car. I seems pretty simple and easy to use. Futuristic designs usually ends up looking outdated in the actual future in my opinion.
The problem with some futuristic designs is more on just modern/current interpretation of what future design might be. But what actually last is more timeless but simple design that actually ends up being more futuristic. I think this interior will remain look good and not that outdated. It has simple lines, which is more minimalistic but too minimal like Tesla does.
@@ii_dynasty when they where joking next to the accord calling it a civic I couldn't tell the difference at all. It's not nearly as different as 10th gen
Had my 22 Civic Sport since august 2021. Absolutely love it. My favorite part as emphasized in the video: the simplicity in the interior. For some reason I cannot stand complex interiors with 1000 buttons. They are right, you learn how to do everything right away. Great entry level car and looks amazing for the price especially with the alloy black wheels, black mirrors, and chrome finish on the exhaust in the sports trim. Highly recommend for someone looking to get that sporty feel without breaking the budget
@@purplesectorracing Not everyone is a car person! Remember the Civic targets pretty much everybody, car people, and people who consider a car simply as a mode of transportation, nothing else.
@@purplesectorracing All good man, yeah sorry I took it the wrong way. The “don’t you know what that is” made it look like you thought the was stupid or something. Again, sorry for taking it the wrong way as well!
I mean what's the point of getting an Accord over this, besides the 2.0 litre. The new civic is acutally pretty spacious, it's not really compact anymore.
@@JesusRodriguez-tm8go yea. The Accord suspension is smoother on bumps and less roll in corners if you drive spirited . Accords are quicker too....like they have racing aspirations. I've seen the 2.0 turbo accords mess with the bmw 3.28.
@@ProfFit1910 I suppose. But these guys are from Canada and we share all of the same car models with the States. So they should remember fleet woods and crown vics etc.
I wouldn't say it's boring. They just made it look more normal and used some of the design elements they used in the Accord, which is not a bad looking car at all. They had to tone the origami down a little bit
@@cpMetis Yup, the burgeoning obesity of North Americans dictates the size of the new rides being sold here. When full size pick ups and SUV's top the sales charts...you know we have an unsophisticated buying public.
Totally agree, nothing really "compact" about it anymore. So are its competitors though. But then again, there's always the hatch, which I prefer by a mile anyways.
I have one a touring in red and absolutely love it! I already put 1,000 miles on it and it’s such a joy to ride! I just put the HPD package on it and it looks insane! Definitely recommend buying this car!
All I gotta say is that this is the best car for two reasons: 1) No fake vents 2) Refer to #1. Just recently got this new civic, and it is an absolute joy to ride compared to the Mazda 3 and Corolla.
I have owned my 22 hatch for almost 2 years and I'm still as happy as day 1 with it. Probably the best car I've ever owned. I have even owned a VW GLI and think this is better to own
Yeah, the fact that current Civic looks like result of a 12-year old boy's fever dream is the biggest downside of the otherwise fantastic car. The new design is sooo much better.
Love the intro. Actually laughed out loud sometimes you have rough days and even for a moment something helps you forget even for a second. Thank you. Keep doing what you guys do best.
You guys are the next original Top Gear as far as how well you both jive together and are entertaining....YOU NEED A TV SHOW..!!!!..you would kill it!!!
Love that you guys are a very decently sized RU-vid channel now and still do affordable cars.... what would be great now would be if you guys reviewed the newest Versa! I bet that'd be hilarious and I'd stay till to the end for that too!
Honda has proven that it can provide more functional and family cars in the Civic and Accord price range than Toyota and Mazda, and that it can strike the right balance between sport and functionality. This review of yours was extremely professional and engaging. Good luck
"I want an Accord!" Mom: "We have Accord at home". Can't wait to not buy the best looking Type-R ever made because it will be sold for at least $10k over MSRP everywhere.
And in Europe, by that time, it will have a mandatory speed limiter. Imagine driving a Type-R that fires off alarms and shakes the controls every time you go over the speed limit.
James' Complaint about the infotainment alignment is hilarious. Though he is looking at it from a designer's point of view, who wants everything to be perfectly aligned and matched, the way he expresses it is completely funny and I liked it :D . I like your reviews guys, you guys mix fun into the serious things in a cool way.
The old one may have been origami-like but it looked interesting. If anonimity is what Honda was going for then they have exceeded that ideal. Bland fits perfectly here.
Really? I wonder how people would say the last generation looked overstyled and ugly, but with this, it looks boring and ugly? I would love to see you people try and design a car that would look good in their eyes. To me, this is enough. It looks great.
I've spent the last week obsessing over the Honda Civic, and this video is feeding my mania. I'm not a manual transmission fanatic, but I think certain cars "need" to be stick. Small, economy cars like the Civic are on that list. I've been looking at standard Civics, the hatchback, which is strange, because I love sedans. Hearing that they are still great highway cars, and agile to navigate cities and hunt for spaces in parking lots is reassuring, as is finding them comfortable for tall people. My wife is 6'1" with long legs, so her comfort is paramount when selecting a vehicle. Your review has convinced me that the Civic is still worth serious consideration.
The Honda puns were glorious! 😂👍 As for the rest of the review, it felt like you were searching for a lot of nicer words to describe ´kinda boring´. ^^
Absolute spot on video as always; sharp humour and great content! About the Civic though, I'm not so sure - the front grill seems a throwback to the early 90s and the reminder seems taken from the Accord. It's still a Civic, so I like that it doesn't pretend to be something else (the one from 2 generations ago was overdesigned to the point of being unrecognisable) but maybe a few extra shiny bits would be nice.
Imho, they nailed the styling on this one. Yes, it looks a lot like a mini Accord, but the proportions and lines look so much better on the scaled down version. Wish they did the Type R as a sedan. Excited to see the Si and test drive it, as well though.. Might be the car to bring me back to Honda for my daily driver.
Great video guys. Correction here; the Mazda3's 6-speed automatic gearbox isn't ancient at all. It's an update from the 1st generation Skyactiv trans and it does the job phenomenally well for an automatic. Honestly, 6 speeds is all you need in a compact with less than 200hp, it shifts really quickly under sporty driving and yet provides a surprisingly smooth transmission of power under low loads. It's hard to understand why any manufacturer would do anything different from a torque converter unit like Mazda's. ...unless it's a manual. Then yes, that would be better. Would have been cool so have seen a driving comparison between this and the Mazda. I heard the past gen Civic had the Mazda3 beat in the fun-to-drive department.
sister just got this for 35K CAD and she's pretty happy with it. she doesn't know a thing about cars(not even the logos smh) so she's really happy with this as her daily drive she's a student so this is the only car she could actually afford lol
Thanks for doing a “boring car”! I know you don’t get the views with these cars, but you’re such great reviewers and I respect your opinion. Loved the opening joke too!
I have the hatchback sport touring version of this car and I love it. It grew a lot on me and I don't mind it unlike a lot of people who don't like the design but I like it.
Looks 1000x better than the clownish 10th gen, didn’t mind the sedan so much but the hatchback was so over styled it reminded me of one of those hipsters with sleeve tattoos desperate for attention
