I like how some brands are beginning to remove model designations. Mazda really does a great job about this because basically every spec excluding some special editions look the same.

I watch all your videos Paul, and really appreciate that you make a point of mentioning what the spare tyre status is on each review. I am sure that those of us from rural areas are grateful for this information, as it is rarely mentioned by other reviewers. Your consistent format is also of great assistance for those of us actually comparing when looking to purchase.

We bought a MY22 Sports+ in blue last year in diesel AWD. It is an absolute pleasure to drive and look forward to it each day. Averaging about 850km per tank of fuel and it has smooth power when we need it. Got lucky when I called around dealers and they had a cancellation order on the car and it was on the boat coming over. All other dealers were quoting 9 month wait on Sports+ and over 12 months on GT Line.

Enjoyed your review Paul. I personally favour 'fatter' tyres as in '55 to 60' ratio. Massive improvement in ride & reduced hitting rims on gutters. All at the expense of cat-like road holding.

At 4:17 you describe the smart key’s features. You even mention that it has remote start. I have this model and it doesn’t have that feature. The button to which you refer only unlocks the car. You had me all excited for a minute while I tried to get it to work.

Hmm - it definitely worked on our car. Could it have been removed as a parts shortage thing? Just confirming you’ve tried pushing lock and then holding the button that says hold?

I own a 2.2 diesel 4wd version with 8 speed DCT transmission in the UK and have had it for eighteen months. The spec is very similar to the one above part from mine having the fully digital dashboard in front of the driver. I have a wireless phone charger as well. Some of the plastics that are matte finish in the video’d car are gloss piano-black on the centre console on mine. I prefer the matte finish. Window blinds in the rear doors are another extra on mine. No push button to release the second row on mine though although it might be on current production. I think the car is brilliant and a match for my previous Volvo XC90 in every way. It’s a pity that in the UK only the mid-spec model that lacks a panoramic roof, memory seats, head up display and the side cameras with dash display when indicating or a car is overtaking. The Diesel engine and transmission are every bit a match for the Volvo XC90 and fuel economy here in hilly West Wales with hardly any freeways averages a genuine 39mpg Imperial or 7.24l/100kms The diesel is certainly NOT lazy. It’s 0-100km time is pretty much the same at the test car’s and it has far superior torque from very low revs which the super-fast and responsive Wet DCT makes the very best of.

@@hedydd2 I'm also from the UK, but I'm still not sure to either go with the diesel or the plug in hybrid. I like the diesel because we do go abroad a couple times during the year but because of all the new ULEZ I'm scared it will be more of a annoyance than anything else. But the 1.6l petrol doesn't seem like a engine that will be efficient on long journeys, because of the weight of the car. I'm also considering the plug in Toyota Rav4
@hedydd2
@hedydd2 2 года назад
@@shithead4767 I average a genuine 38mpg long term with my Sorento diesel and did a fast journey to Cornwall and back, a total of over 700 miles, at 39mpg with two on board plus luggage. It is capable of 42mpg when taking it easy, but down to 32 when hammering it. Only added 15 litres to the tank to get home on the 720 mile journey with plenty spare.
@hedydd2
@hedydd2 2 года назад
@@shithead4767 If you live in town and do mainly urban journeys than are mostly short and/or slow speed, the petrol is by far the best choice. If you live and drive outside town and mainly do journeys that are 10 miles or much longer and especially if you have your own diesel fuel storage, then the diesel is for you. The fuel economy of the petrol is also quite good by all accounts.

I'm actually tossing up between GT line and the 2021 carnival to purchase next year some time. Would love some feedback from anyone who has a car similar in size to the gt line, what it's like to have 3 kids seats across the middle row (2 booster, 1 baby seat). Are they squished in or is there enough room that they don't look and feel like they are all up against each other. I currently have a commy and I love how roomy the second row feels with the seats in :)

As a large family it's a bit of a shame to see that the new one doesn't appear to have the 40/20/40 second row seat anymore, or the adjustable cup holders in the front. I do like that they have finally added anchor points in the third row though.

Nope, you need to endure a DCT where crawling in traffic and low speed work is clutch slip city. They should fit a torque converter to enable low speed work without clutch slip like Honda / Acura have done.

The lack of badges really annoys me, my daughter just bought a 2022 sportage GT Line, no badges. When you pay 55K for the top model, you expect Kia to label the car. You need to be a car fanatic to know the difference between that model and the base. It is a very poor practice by Kia and others. Badges on the very top models should be included.

I had recently driven a rental Kia Carnival on a round trip from Melbourne to Adelaide & to be honest, came away very impressed how comfortable the 8 seater SUV was. It was fully loaded with 8 passengers & the boot full to the brim with suitcases etc. The engine was punchy & the cabin noise was minimal,even on coarse chipped country roads. The only problem I had over a 2,500 km road trip was a glitch on the touch screen entertainment unit in Adelaide CBD. The screen went completely blank, when I tapped on CarPlay.

Drove my friend’s new Sport+ V6 on a road trip a couple of weeks ago. Besides from a flashing engine light, loss of power and severe vibration at one point (possible engine misfiring??) it was smooth, quiet and effortless. I just found the front seats to be way too firm, especially on a long trip. Some other little annoying niggles I noticed: You can’t unbuckle the third row seat belts, and only get a pair of flimsy plastic clips to hold them back. The retractable boot cover is pretty cheap and nasty. And the adaptive cruise control is a bit unpredictable and not as intuitive as the VW/Skoda system I’m used to.

Have a 2020 V6 Sport in Mineral Blue. Have had some foibles with the car being back to the dealer twice (1 time a full week) to try and get the engine to start and run smoothly when cold. Still not running well but at least it starts. Other issues being a failure at the factory to hook up electrical wires in the centre console. Still does weird things electrically wise. I can tolerate all of this but what I cannot cope with is the completely manic lane keep assist. It nearly drags the wheel from your hands at really weird times. Unfortunately you cannot permanently turn the damn thing off. Would I buy another Sorrento…..hmmmm probably not. Shame it really is a big good looking car but I find it hard to trust.

Unfortunately, in the United States, Kia dropped the V6 as an engine option in the Sorento. The last year this option was available was 2020. The Turbo 4 and Dual Clutch have been very troublesome. I keep reading horrific customer problems related to engine and transmission failures. So this alone opens the door for the Honda Passport. I do not see similar issues with the Telluride. Perhaps it is due to the continued use of a V6 and standard 8 speed transmission. Space and mileage are important - but reliability always tops the "must have" list.
