This is a six-month ownership review update of our family vehicle, a 2022 Kia Telluride SX. Ours has the Prestige Package and is finished in Wolf Grey paint. We've loved it and hope this video helps those interested in the Kia Telluride.
This was a great video for someone looking at an SUV for their family. I admire you had the whole family comment on the benefits. Good luck continuing to grow your channel.
Nice family and review, well done! I think you're spot on. My wife and I test drove one but haven't decided what to get yet! I think the seats could be a little better cushioned but fit most shapes and sizes. The horsepower at near 300Lbs should be plenty adequate but another 20 or 30lbs of low-end torque would be nice for a bit more punch around town. Fuel economy in general and particularly around town isn't great especially now with the crazy gas prices. The 2023 refresh is showing no changes to the powertrain so it's likely the Telly won't get a hybrid of some sort or EV version until maybe 2025 I'd guess! Overall, it's the best packaged family hauler with a great warranty, value, features and looks!
We ordered a Telluride back in February this year. So with production on the 2023 model starting soon, ours will be the 23 model. I have mixed feelings on the changes they made. I do really like the tech upgrades with the gauge cluster, infortainment and review screen mirror. But I wish they didn't ditch the signature amber DRL's on the headlights. But we're still pretty stoked and hoping to have it before Christmas! Great video, keep up the great work. Sub'd.
Just got my Wolf Gray AWD SX Nightfall / tow pkg with butterscotch leather. It looks amazing in and out and only took 2 months to get in! Smooth ride and fantastic sound system inside. Love all the cameras and safety systems; no blind spot worries. I sure do hope I get closer to 20 MPG though.
I have had my ‘22 SXP NF/T in Gravity Grey and Black Napa Leather for about 8 full months (almost 11k miles) It has been a great vehicle hands down, I do somewhat regret not going to a Tahoe or Denali or even the Grand Cherokee L but for the price compared to those others mentioned, the Telluride is a bang for the buck. Only major gripe at this point is waiting 9 months for my order and 8 months of use, Kia is finally improving the towing for 2023. Don’t get it twisted, i am glad to see Kia pushing out new capabilities and improvements/refinements, but that is the one thing I hate about this class of vehicle - standard 5,000 lbs towing with the small exception of the Explore or Cherokee L. I didn’t want Ford and the Jeep wasn’t quite out until I got my vehicle in hand after waiting 9 months. The 2023 Telluride is said to have 5,500 lbs and a tow mode which doesn’t sound like much but I have done a bunch of searching for camping trailers that can sleep my family of 5 comfortably without going to the pop up style campers and it is hard to find something that fits the 5K lbs requirement - staying under that and allowing passenger weight and gear. The 500 lbs isn’t much but that sure helps and the selection of trailer. And we didn’t go with a truck, on a daily basis it is nice to have 2 extra seats for family or friends plus our Telluride is our family vehicle and didn’t want a truck to be the main family hauler for daily use. I am heavily considering upgrading to a 23’ at this point for that only reason. We normally keep our cars 8+ years but the towing is a lifestyle change, we can deal without what i consider small upgrades even if they are nice to have - they aren’t a necessity while towing I view as a necessity.
salem fsx 179dbk or the kk version. Working well for our family and well below the 5k limit. We got ours for 14k at the end of 2021. But the same place is not selling the same camper for 23k
I have the sister to this vehicle the Hyundai palisade I have the heated and ventilated seats in the second row and heated if you have young kids who are prone to car sickness be aware because the seats have little holes for the air to go up for the cooled seats vomit can get stuck down the holes and you can’t get it out so that is a downfall of cooled seats with young kids also they are known to spill stuff as well so cover them up with a cover or a towel very nice review very authentic with your family in tow hope this comment helps other families out
I have a 2022 Telluride in Black Copper. I really love this vehicle! You mentioned that you thought it needs more power, I think it has more than enough power for me to get around. Seems most men always wants power and more speed….. lol 😆 You have beautiful kids, little guy is a complete ham!!! Great video
Ha, I could always go for more power! Maybe the elevation we're at has something to do with the power ... in any case, thanks for watching! And yes, he's a ham!
Loved the review and your family is lovely. I am in the market for an SUV. The Telluride caught my eye and kept it since its been out. I have driven a Venza for the past 10+ years. It's my 3rd Toyota so naturally I looked at the Highlander, mainly the XSE model out now. I do love Toyota and the reputation is unmatched, this Telluride keeps tugging at me. I need to get something in the next few months and I keep going back and forth. The mark up right now are ridiculous. Thanks again for the content.
my mom is going to get the fully loaded Ex trim level. It’s know August 27 my mom took delivery of it on August 15 and she loves it we just got it ceramic paint protection and we are getting it tinted today August 27 after putting 500 miles on it already our is a 10-10 we love it the caring space is amazing we went to ikea and got 3 dressers and still had quite another of space
For your in town fuel economy you have to also consider where you live, you live in Utah and all hills. In AZ you would have closer to 21-22 mpg. For more power you could also get a tune for the engine as well as for the transmission.
Great video! We ordered a SX-P with NF, Tow pkg, and a few other options in GWP w/Dune interior back on 7/30/21 with an ETA of 6-8 months. Just got an email two days ago stating that Kia picked up our order with an ETA of 7/20/22. Great to finally get that news except for the fact that we couldn’t wait that long and needed another vehicle. Ended up purchasing a ‘18 Toyota Highlander Limited Platinum. We really like it, but REALLY wish we could have gotten our Telluride instead. Congratulations! Nice car!
@@jasonbellcars great video. I’m getting a ‘22 fully loaded. Asking everyone on this thread that has one, what do you recommend to use to keep the interior clean ?
I have decided to wait till the 2023 model comes available. I flat out refuse to pay full MSRP plus some a couple thousand for comfort care ( something they do in Florida and many dealers) and then a 5K AMV upcharge. I have a 2020 F150 Ford Lariat with 12,600 miles and still looks like it just came off the shrowroom floor. It has a 400 HP V8 and get 16 and 20 mpg. It's strong, quiet and very comfortable and lastly, it's paid in FULL!
Congrats on your vehicle make sure this vehicle Meets you and your families needs paying $10 k over MSRP means you will be terribly upside down on your loan and forced to keep this vehicle for many years vehicles are starting to level out some and you won’t get that overage back
I recommend watching the car mom along with this video the car mom has some great videos with the telluride and other SUV’s that’s goes in depth with car seats and car seat set ups for those who need the car seat setup information on this vehicle hope it helps
My husband and I go tomorrow to test drive the 23 telluride!! Super excited!! But I hear the best time to buy is probably after the new yr?! Anyone know??
The 2023 Telluride no longer included the amber lights. Makes no sense to me considering that was a signature of the Telluride and looked great. KIA is overthinking the design now.
@@amrashraf9559 only time will tell. Kia has been around for a while. So I guess the answer could be in their older vehicle models from a decade ago or so. But then again, their quality may have gone up massively in recent times. Hard to say.
Couldn’t agree more. Total screwup decision on changing the running lights that quickly. Was a signature. Shows a complete detachment from what customers loved about it.
If your wife was filming, you should have introduced her. Bad hubby! leg room should be addressed in square feet, not wight (tons?). A telluride SX Nightfall/Premium with Dune interior is my dream Kia. Thanks. nice review. Cute family.
I've had one ordered since 12/21 and I suspect I will end up with the '23 model. I will miss the amber DRLs and the removal of the name on the hood. Hey, if you still have the letters...I'll take them! LOL.
It’s interesting to hear your experience with the fuel economy. I was curious as to your altitude? I wonder if that’s affecting it at all. I have the 22 SX without prestige but with the tow package, fwd and down here in Florida, I get 29 mpg on the highway in eco. I don’t have a comparison yet with the city driving though as I’ve had it only a week and just took a long road trip but that’s with me driving 75-79 mph mostly… it drops off quite a bit once you hit mid 80s. A turbo would be great as well, I agree.
We're at about 4,200 - 4,300 feet most of the time and live in a hilly area. I'm sure that's why our city mileage is so poor. We take road trips fairly often and seem to average around 29 mpg.
@@jasonbellcars I am in Florida and it is so flat I can stand on a step ladder and see the Gulf Of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean with the turn of my head LOL. Great personal review of this vehicle. We are currently looking at the same model and trim and night edition etc. in negotiations actually.
Part of me wonders if the reason there still isn’t a hybrid model (even for ‘23) is because they can’t figure out a place to safely put the battery/hybrid system yet. There is so much room despite being a midsize SUV and still having (optional) AWD, a subwoofer (for the SX), (optional) towing kit, additional storage in the trunk under the cover-thing, etc. Hopefully they figure it out though because once this has a hybrid, it’s game over (although I hope they bring back the amber DRLs, too! Total fail that they removed those for ‘23).
I also have my Telluride 22 in Puerto Rico and love it, your cement color looks great! Do you happens that after washing your Kia, the panoramic roof at the end of the roof (passenger side corner) still have water under the rubber (even that you already dried your car) and when I park with some inclination, the water start running out of the panoramic corner under the rubber. My concern with this it's for long term usage. I'm about to go to the dealership and see what they say.
If you change the oil every 4k miles you will not have a problem. As a fleet mechanic I noticed that in the 4k interval on all cars you are safe. I have 50k on my Telluride so far.
Thanks for this, Jason! My family is trying to decide between the Carnival and Telluride. We have three kiddos and plan on 4 - with strollers, groceries, etc do you feel like the telluride would have enough room for us?
Hey, thanks for watching! For short jaunts, the Telluride would be doable with three or four kids, but it would be a little tight when loaded with strollers and groceries. This will especially be the case if you plan on taking road trips. As much as I love the Telluride, I'd suggest checking out the Carnival. We have two kids right now but if we were to have another, we'd probably want something larger given how many road trips we take.
Also, we just had the Chrysler Pacifica Limited for a week and found it to be EXCELLENT. Maybe even better than the Carnival in some ways. Definitely check that one out, too. I was genuinely shocked at how good it was. You can watch the video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EM_7MCpDmnc.html
Did you order the vehicle? Did you pay over msrp? If ordered how long did it take for yip to receive it? I ordered this exact one with the butterscotch seats a month ago.
We were lucky enough to find this one on a lot, unspoken for! We paid a very small markup, but I didn't feel too bad about it considering we needed a car right away. I think you'll be happy! I do wish it had the butterscotch seats, though.
Ordered a 2022 Ex fully loaded with towing in July 2022. Pearl White. They changed over to the 2023 model and it arrived in November. They wanted 4000 more plus 7000 over MRSP.and the interest rate rose to 6.9%. Beautiful car but I turned it down. Not paying 57;000 out the door for vehicle.
We just purchased the 2023 sx and I felt bad about paying msrp but reading some of these posts makes me feel better about our purchase price. The dealership also tried t o charge $1800 additional charges but after calling the deal off they called back and took $1600 off the extra fees. End of mth. they wanted the sale to meet their sales quota apparently.
I was literally just about to ask the same lol. I like the front lettering myself. Unfortunately (for my preferences anyway), they’re removing it for the ‘23 model.
So these are the Smart Liner mats off Amazon. They’re not quite a perfect fit, but they’ve done the job of protecting rear floor from kid’s shoes, drinks, etc. For the price, they do a great job. I orederd one in January and according to the dealer , I should have it only in September. The nightfall would have taken 3 more months …. Went with the SX. The availability is a problem here in Canada .
So far so good for us. This engine's been around a while and there are plenty of people on the forums with nearly 100k miles without issues. But Hondas are generally excellent, too!
Yeah. We are at a higher elevation and live in a pretty hilly area on the mountain, though. I chalk it up to that. On the freeway and road trips we usually get about 28-29 mpg.
My gosh, such adorable kids. Next time try not to be so harsh on them.. it's just a video. It's okay to laugh and go off script once in a while. Other than that, LOVE IT! 342nd SUB😉
We are at about 5,000 feet elevation and live in a fairly hilly area. Still, it seems low as the EPA rating is 19 mpg in the city. I filled up yesterday and averaged 15.8 mpg.
I can't wait for ours to come in. But we have up to 15mo wait for an SX FWD tow in Sangria. It won over the Highlander Hybrid despite the extra 8k in fuel cost. Is yours burning any oil? Some are reporting that as an issue on this engine. I suspect it isn't common just the few loud ones on the net. By the way the Telluride uses an engine operating off the Atkinson cycle which makes it more lethargic and less powerful than one would expect a 3.8 l to put out. Additionally na engines are impacted by elevation notably.
Hi, Harry! Great to hear from you. Hopefully, you get yours sooner than later! I haven't had any oil-burning issues. And you're right -- to me, this definitely feels down on power from what I expect a 3.8L to produce.
If you change the oil every 4k miles you will not have a problem. As a fleet mechanic I noticed that in the 4k interval on all cars you are safe. I have 50k on my Telluride so far.
If people are telling you that that kia is a great looking suv. They'rejust being nice. It's rather weird and awkward looking suv. Funky! Is the word to describe that kia telluride. The infortainment center is just really funky with giant buttons that couldve been shrink down. If i see it in person, I'd walk away fast. Storage space is not that great.
I heard they burn oil. any proof of that? its meh it’s a KIA. I live in the rust belt. I see This thing rotting out quick.. quality > quantity. I already don’t like it lmao
