They got alot of haters who be popping up in the comments though..I got a 2022 Kia K5 EX. Could of got the GT but I'm more in the luxury and tech and I still rent alot of cars...
It's official Stinger gt makes more power than advertised! There's no way it's keeping up on a roll against a car with 475hp and lighter 😂 It's just crazy! Awesome race Sam! Thank you for keeping us entertained!
Agrre with you, as they did with the Elantra N. Owners has tested their N on dyno, and the result is more 325-335 hp to the crank than the 278 advertised. 278 is at the wheels...
@@Frank-hg9rl yup! Damn that N is impressive too! Korians are dropping bombs! Did you see the new RN22e and vison 74 commercial? Looks very impressive!
I’d take my 2019 stinger GT awd over any muscle car all day any day and I’m a original Muscle car guy!!! Had big badass horsepower all my life I’d take the twin turbo 🐌 🐌 all day long over any naturally aspirated V8 nothing like sound and power outta a V8 don’t get me wrong but that stinger motor has potential of 600 plus hp if the right things are done to it and spanking anything on the road off the line or on a roll 🤟🏻🤟🏻💪🏻🫶🏻
Its amazing how the Stinger is able to deliver the power so efficiently to the wheels, even with a weight and power disadvantage, compared to the IS. Once more this proves that the Stinger is the best bang for your buck by a good margin.
Unfortunately the build quality of the Stinger leaves a lot to be desired, whereas the Hyundai G70, which is the same car, is a much better built car. The G70 costs a little more, but I think it's probably negligible when considering the build differences and quality of the Genesis.
@@_Paul_from_Jax I would agree to an extent on the build quality, its hit or miss with both actually, the G70 and Stinger. I am the original owner of a 2018 GT2 and have not any issues with the build quality of mine, to the contrary its held up great.
The stinger is a great car but a used 2018 3 series BMW with the B58 turbo I6 (which is a forged and reliable engine) will decimate it and for cheaper too. There's a reason toyota uses it in the new Supra.
I'll give the Stinger props but straight line speed either from a roll or a dig is 1 thing. There is a reason it's a "value" car, and even then, you're not going to get one for under $55k anymore, so it's not even that cheap. The design, interior quality, driving dynamics, sounds are all not that great compare to some other cars around $50k. It's still a Kia, in the sense that within the Hyundai family, it's still the bottom tier brand Genesis > Hyundai > Kia. So you're literally buying this car just for the straight line speed. You want to know the age group that usually only cares for cars with straight line speed?
Ok, someone help me out here.... On this channel months back, Charger 392 beats stinger, then recently Lexus is500 beats charger 392, and now stinger beats Lexus is500? 🤔 I'm confused. Driver mod needed?
My AWD stinger is highly modified, it’s amazing what I gap out there. Lexus IS500 has an amazing bullet proof 5.0 V8 that will sound night and day better with a cat back. I had 3 Lexus’s prior to the Stinger and I’m considering an IS500 myself, they can be modified to quite well too.
Is500 would require an supercharger kit to see any real performance aftermarket gains. Which is a good solid 12+ plus grand.. on top of msrp of is500 reaching near 90k grand. In total near 100+ grand. Would easily just buy an rs5/amg 63s and or m3-m4, not the 2022s.
Love your channel. I’m keeping my 2022 gt2 stock because I prefer stock vehicles but your videos have been outstanding showing the potential. Mad props
@@matty808pyro8 I’ve been proud to own a Kia and always will be on my 4 but gotta get a genny next. Don’t let anyone talk down on your car love that shit to death.
Did they finally figure out all the paint issues they were having? When they first came out that was the biggest reason I didn't consider them... that and I didn't need a sedan.
Honestly that race went as I was expecting because the Is500 has a similar 1/4 mile time to the Stinger but a higher trap speed. It would be awesome if you could get the IS500 against an old GS F because they are pretty much the same car
Lexus, the pursuit of everything, BUT performance. Lexus has reliability and quality, but fails to perform always. They never pushed a car to its potential ever, thats why they last so long.
I'm in shock that the stinger took it from the dig. 100hp less 200lbs more and 20k less in price. Wow 😳😳 . By far best value for money sport sedan. And it doesn't cost 59k. It's starts 50k-53k for the suede package before taxes.
Surprised the IS500 wasn't put up against the G70 3.3T AWD/RWD, The weight difference is more in favor of the G70 being around 3700 lbs. It would be more even or better for the G70 during the roll. Digs would just be even better for the G70. Add a JB4 and it's no contest. the IS500 is just too expensive and not much faster vs the Genesis.
@@tyhyhh For that price I'm good. There are cheaper options that sound as good if not better. As an overall package the stinger/G70 just checks more boxes than the is.
The singer has such a great torque curve that is beats the IS500which has 100 more horsepower and is lighter from a dig. I guess AWD helps a lot. I love Lexus cars but this is embarrassing
@@Justaeuropeanman what are you talking about. Don’t just come on here and spew complete wrong information. 368 to 470 is not 32. Please explain or do you practice some kind of new math?
The roll races seem to have the stinger driver too busy watching the Lexus. A delay in pushing that go pedal. Plus a little turbo lag but more of driver lag. The Stinger is no joke for this brand
Not overrated. In fact, it's probably very misunderstood. It's a relaxing gentleman that turns into an insane gorilla on command. A real Jekyll and Hyde car. But, it has to do both, so it is not as sporty as an "F" car or a BMW M car. It's a fast daily, and that's that. It's actually very similar to the Stinger in that respect.
Kia , Hyndae, genesis are killing it. It’s amazing how great those brands have become. It’s beyond incredible. I would rather own one of them than a German brand that’s in the shop every week. I had a bmw 335i, Mercedes’ C 320, and VW GTI….yes they were fun to drive…but always had reliability issues…could not wait to get rid of them
@@4nlover635 that is NO longer the case. Um I can say that about German cars that have the worst reliability and they are so damn expensive to keep out of the shop
I just got my ‘23 GT2. Traded in my Camaro that I modded up to wazzu. I’ve put 1200 miles on her already and I don’t regret it one bit. Crazy fun car and a sedan to boot for the family I now have. It’s still all stock and blows my mind how fast this thing is. I can now tell you without doubt that this car is definitely more powerful than it says.
The stinger GT is by far one of tue best cars out now. ItS priced damn good, and because it’s a “Kia” it’s probably the best sleeper on the streets today. I love my stinger GTS then just basic JB4 and some bolt ons made it a monster
Yeah stinger is a really nice Audi/BMW alternative if you can get over the whole Kia think. I believe it’s even faster than the S5 sportback as well. I can’t imagine a stage 2 Stinger.
@@jacobbrandenburg9584 The Stinger is my favorite car on the road. Kia/Hyundai did an absolutely fantastic job with that car which has gone about it's business dismantling american made muscle cars like varoius versions of Mustangs and Camaros and even a Cotvette. And unlike what people are saying here about the Lexus being so much more reliable, that is flat out 100% wrong. If you take care of that Stinger, it will last foreever and is made every bit as good and better than that Lexus. This is not a Kia from the 90's, they spent a ton of time and research into developing that car so that it not only beats down cars with over 100 more horsepower, but also costs 10k+ less. In terms of that Lexus, the Elantra N with 200 less horsepower hss a good shot at beating it. I would say that Hyundai/Kia now know how to make an engine. All they do is go out and beat down Toyota and Hondas best. To think Honda's pricing on their weak new Integra is about the same as a Kia Stinger GT is such a joke.
@@jacobbrandenburg9584 Maybe a previous generation S4/S5, but not the current B9.5s. Stock or modified. I dont think they are as reliable either. Many people have made over 700whp and Tq in the B9.5s with the stock block. Just basic bolt ons and a hybrid turbo, not even a full frame turbo, and they run 9s. Could be wrong, but havent seen a kia do that yet.
Funny thing I got my stinger in 2020 July. Gonna cost me $59,300 in total (GT limited the top trim in Canada the V6tt of course) it is 84 months $706.9 a month. To get the Lexus is500. If I were to do the same thing 84 months, 0$ down, warranty 5 years/ 100k km to match my kia warranty the Lexus will cost $113,000 ($1346 a month for 84 months).
To be honest, i really love both cars. However, if i had to choose, i would choose the lexus due to its v8 engine. Im so happy that lexus allows you to get a v8 engine
I watch all of your videos and they are very entertaining. If you could start providing the quarter mile times for the best run of each vehicle that would be great info. Thanks!
This seems like user error on the digs. Motortrend test result IS500 4.3 -60, 12. 7 -1/4 mile. Stinger 4.7-60, 13.2-1/4 mile. Car and Driver test result. IS500 4.3-60, 12.8-1/4 mile. Stinger 4.6-60, 13.1-1/4 mile
The OEM Potenza's suck imo on the IS500. I immediately swapped to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s (summer) on my IS500 hooks way better especially in the heat.
to get those amazing numbers especially with rwd cars, magazine/reviewers flog the cars til they get the best numbers, You'd be hard pressed to get a stock rwd vehicle over ~400hp+ to pull magazine numbers on regular roads every time.
The IS500 has an intake bypass that goes in the cabin at higher RPM. I'm not sure about the IS500, but on my ISF, especially with a different air filter, it sounds fantastic.
@@donbaird3826 Lol its really not in this case, drivetrain will certainly make a big difference with cars at this level and obviously the AWD car will have the advantage off the line especially due to its shorter gearing. Clearly the better powered car showed itself in the end.
@@donbaird3826 It's not. If anything, dig races favor turbocharged engines over naturally aspirated engines since the peak power graphs are completely different between the two (peak power for the Stinger is in the 2000-3000 rpm range).
@@donbaird3826 no way.. off the line power can be manipulated by too many things. Hell my vehicle let’s me leave with 4 psi of boost which is a huge advantage and is not reflective of what it makes naturally if you don’t engage the system. Using the “torque reserve” system cuts half a second off my 0-60 times.
@@yousef.al-assaf FINALLY somebody who gets torque also is a factor not just horsepower 🤣🤣. These two cars have almost identical torque numbers but the stingers gets peak torque almost 3,000 rpm sooner than the Lexus
Let's see: the Lexus sounds way better, looks way better, is built way better, will last five times longer, will depreciate half as much, is way more luxurious, faster around the track, and is faster on a roll (b/c Stinger loses AWD advantage). Really no comparison here
Lol this channel is a joke 🤣 😂 😅 I have said it before only on this channel can the Hyundai's and kia's beat cars they shouldn't....hell on this channel I bet the kia's and Hyundai's would beat a c8 corvette by 3 cars as well 😆 🤣 😂
@@yok3nny it is though because a kia stinger can't even beat an mk8 golf R to the 1/4....besides the is500 runs a 12.7 vs the stingers 13.1 numbers don't lie just saying.
Everyone knows the IS500 is slow. Its a GT luxury cruiser, not a performance car. This is why Lexus dropped the IS-F name and made it the IS500. They knew the IS-F name would make the car would compete it against the M, AMG, and S cars from the Germans. The fact is - the IS500 is basically the 4 door RC-F. They could have honestly made the RC-F the RC500 too. The Stinger competes with the Q50 Red Sport, M340i and etc... The Lexus IS500 is in that competition range too, its just in the last place among that competition in performance.
Stinger did decent on digs nothing to brag about. Rolls were closer then expected considering stinger is almost 200lbs heavier and 100+hp less then IS500. I think a base GT model RWD 3.3tt stinger would atleast tie IS500 on a roll. It’s 300lbs lighter then loaded GT2 AWD stinger.
@@donbaird3826 lol I own a stinger. It did good but AWD does have advantage over RWD/FWD on a dig anyday. It is down 100hp tho and the IS500 wasn’t reeling it in.
I think if sound is the mission then slurging on a good exhost for the stinger is a good option too. Its so much cheaper from the get go that I think you will still come in under the F.
Let's be real here. If the IS500 had AWD it would've put a few cars on the Stinger. From a roll it walks away at ease. Kia fanboys are so funny. Awd handicap is the only reason it stood a chance.
The difference in these car is one has straight motor (V8) and the other has a V6 (Twin Turbos). Turbos help the Stinger reach full torque at very low RPMs. That equates to it coming off the dig extremely fast and powerful while the V8 is trying to reach higher RPMs to reach the same kinda acceleration. Turbos will almost always beat straight motor if horsepower numbers are close. It’s one of the reasons I can challenge scat packs in my Genesis G70 though I have 120 less horsepower.
Your right about the turbo but the Lexus is a V8 and remember that V8s have top end power,so that means he will only last but for so long with those turbos and lets not forget that turbos blow out or can blow the engine up, and that stinger is garbage too 😆🤣,not beating my 2001 Lexus gs300 ,i also have twin turbo with a inline 6 and i have 425 hp
Super embarrassing you have a channel. Also got beat in your OWN super over priced Toyota. Scratching my head here…why should anyone here take on your opinions or advice?! Clearly we can understand you have horrible taste and like to overpay for a dated brand name. I would be so much more inclined to support someone who took a chance on a brand that struggled 10+ years ago. With a shocking sports car that does it all at such a insane price point. Wont be watching this channel again! Anyone happy about a Lexus is so unfit for giving car advice…..
Stinger is a disposable go fast sedan.Lease it for 3 years and thrash it.The Lexus is the buy and hold long term car.Naturally aspirated V8 and Lexus reliability....yes plz
Stinger has better low end torque and is AWD, no surprise it's faster from dog between the two. I was going to get used GSF but stinger was slightly bigger which worked better for me. I wonder how RWD vs AWD stinger would be on drag race.
@@cindykeselowski899 depending on conditions it can, when 2 wheels have adequate traction then 4 as well but not in all situations. Alex on auto said AWD has quicker 0-60. I have AWD and thinking about switching to RWD stinger, it's more fun but not faster in every situation.
Rolling races without a 3rd party flagger are worthless. The car that hits the gas first will always win. You saw the Lexus was in a lower gear with a high rev, hitting the gas is straight power. But the stinger driver was trying to balance the mph as he watched the Lexus. The Lexus hits its the gas, already in a lower gear, then the stinger driver slams the gas but was in the bottom of a gear so he had lag until it down shifted, and took off. Always!
😂😂😂buddy in the stinger was just looking as if he doesn’t know what’s going on lol ..well both cars perform as expected ..stinger should have win off the line which it did ..and the Lexus should have win in the rolling race which it did ..both cars are great ..gone are the days of German superior performance and fun to drive vehicles these Asian manufacturers have been mastering all aspects of the game slowly but surely ..reliable..they got that down …luxury they got that down .now they are getting the performance game down on the commercial market end ..good job ..Lexus and Kia good job.
Stinger 13,000$ less, 2 cylinders less, 200 pounds more, 30 hp less, so that confirms me that the mighty Stinger is a heck of a deal, and that the Lexus is a so over rated Toyota, no offence but i think at that price you should be a little bit offended to own a Lexus
The lexus cars have been vastly overproced for the longest time. They always underperform compared to toher cars in the same class and price range. Always more expensive and less fast. They make quality cars. But not fast cars.
Prediction: *unless* the IS500 can get a good launch, the Stinger wins the dig race, while the IS500 wins the roll easily. AWD is a double-edged sword: better and more consistent launches from a dig, but excess weight and powertrain loses from a roll.
The Stinger may be faster from a dig but only one of these vehicles has been discontinued. Everyone online wants to talk about how great of a car they are but the fact is very few people actually put their money where their mouth was and bought one.
Do you understand car company are going electric ditching gas engines right? I hate this because we can’t support many more electric cars on our grid but it’s political and the truth.
Wow, I knew the Stingers were good, but that was surprising. I thought it might win the launch with AWD, but I was really surprised the IS 500 wasn't able to reel it back in. Kia must have been advertising wheel horsepower on those things!
Well.. it was tuned by Albert Biermann you know.. and the sad thing is that the Stinger's engine is severely undertuned from the factory so there's definitely potential for A LOT more! It wouldn't surprise me if they'd produce something close to a GT-R given the platform can handle it. It's a really underrated car and that's always a WIN in my book. People overlooking this car because of the KIA badge are only fooling themselves.
No its just turbo'd so it makes power way lower in the RPM range compared the the Lexus. Digs always favor turbo'd cars. In the roll the IS500 easily wins because it does have significantly more power.
@@brandonhughes401 the Lexus should have done much better considering it weighs 200lbs less and makes 100hp more. This shouldn't have been as close of a race as it was.
