I have to agree I traded in my 2021 Ranger XLT Sport for a 2022 Frontier ProX night and day with build and ride quality. Daily Driving the Ranger was a mess this drives like my Titan did smooth and comfortable. Cabin noise is non existent great for long road trips. So far I’m very impressed with it. It’s one of the best looking midsize trucks available. You’re not gonna get a Pro4X model for 40k though the msrp is 45k and Nissan is not offering any incentives on the new Frontier.

Instant Classic, just right in size, solid design, Nissan got a winner, I feel this thing will be reliable for at least 10yrs, btw I love how you two interact, you give each other space and time to talk you listen to each other and you don't try to out do each other, there are many other car reviewers that do that all the time

@@MrCamel2humps It seems Nissan got it together again, I have a 95 240sx that has over 400,000 miles on a stock KA, I know Nissan can build something good, I personally find those huge pickups a little too much, I constantly see people here in Florida park everywhere like its an all out festival in parking lots, they used to take up two spaces now they hog up almost 3-5 parking spaces, Frontier seems so well thought out and will fulfill the needs of most I assume

I have a 2018 Tacoma TRD Off Road which I do love. But I will happily admit the seating position and ride comfort suck on long multi hour drives. If I were shopping today, this would be very intriguing.
@MW-bz1qe
@MW-bz1qe 2 года назад
I agree. I am a 34 year Toyota guy and I admit that the seating position in Tacomas is horrible. Also the quality is at its worst in my 34 years of owning them. The 3.5l with the automatic is a pathetic excuse of a drive train. And whoever the moron was who decided to ditch the oil filter up on top of the engine and go with a stupid canister disaster underneath the skid plate , needs to be taken out back and given a good lashing !!- With all that said, I will be looking, at the new Frontier to replace my Taco.
@MogulFarmer

These are the primary reasons I sold my Tacoma. On rural 2 lane state highways it was good, on 4 lane highways it was loud inside and I had to keep the gas peddle down to keep it going 75-80 (legal speed limits), especially if there was wind. I had highway tires and Bilstein shocks and still after long multi hour drives I so was exhausted. I traded it for a nice Silverado crew cab and could drive that for 6-8hrs and not be tired. And the Silverado got better gas mileage and just sailed down highways.

4:13 As a non-off roader guy, I want to say that the muddy track you found to test out the off roading chops is what I would buy a truck for, so 100% on point for your review. I know the true off roader people won't be impressed by it, but that's my 0.02!

In 2014 I bought my first truck; a 2012 Nissan Frontier with 31,000. 7 years later I still love everything about it. Super reliable with a lot of acceleration for a small truck. I didn't like the 2022 redesign when I first saw it, but it just keeps growing on me more and more.

I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 224,000 miles on it. Never had an issue with the original CVT. I changed the fluid every 60,000 miles as required in the owner’s manual. Nissan is capable to be reliable as Toyota and Honda. You haters should learn how to read a manual and drive a car properly and you won’t have any problems long term.

Wife just traded in her jeep on a New Dark Blue Pearl 2022 Frontier I have a 13 with 170.000 miles. Never been in the shop not once. Still runs like they day we brought it home 8 years ago. The Wrangler was an overprice Pile. We had the new one on the Highway yesterday. I gotta say it's smooth as glass. She is a fully optioned SV. Right around 45Gs out the door. Roughly the same we paid for a used Wrangler with 17.0000 miles on it. Only thing we will do to it is a Camper shell and rims and tires. Upgraded shocks and springs at some point. My 13 has been bomb proof. Hope the 22 is the same. Fingers crossed. Pretty spot on revue.

I've had two trucks in my life, both smaller. The first was a used 2001 Nissan Frontier, loaded, and then a 2007 Toyota Tacoma. While the Taco had more usable space, the Nissan, even though it was older, was worlds better in ride quality. My wife always teases me that I am not a truck guy, but this truck seems to keep pulling me to it. I will drive the GMC Canyon when it comes out, it looks great, but this truck continually seems to be precisely what I want/need. Drove the Ranger. - it's fine, but it's boring inside. Drove the existing GM smaller trucks - no chance in Hell. Had a Tacoma - everything they say is spot-on. HATE the high floor. Well done, Nissan, well done.

I just got my new 2022 Pro4X after selling my 2013 Tacoma TRD and the difference as a daily driver is epically in the Nissan's favor. It's actually fun to drive. The steering is tight and super accurate, the cornering is actually pretty flat for a pickup and the cabin is incredibly quiet. I'll repeat, incredibly quiet. The brakes are much more linear than the Tacoma set up and the driving position with the Nissan seat design, is super comfortable, especially when compared with the Tacoma. The engine is also more powerful than the Toyota six and acceleration is excellent with just a light touch of the pedal. I got the Fender audio and it's worth the money if you need music when you drive, although the EQ is ridiculously bass heavy at the original factory settings. The rest of the tech including the navigation is fast enough and intuitive. I'll never rock crawl with this truck but I would not hesitate taking it up a fire trail or on a 5,000 mile road trip. It's a very comfortable and capable vehicle. Not bad looking either.

Well made, and informative video. I have owned several Nissans over the years (2 Maximas, 1 Altima, 1 Sentra, 1 Pathfinder, 2 Armadas). I am not Pro-Nissan over anything, it just has happened to be what I bought. I am comparing this to other Mid-Sized PUs... I drove a 2022 Toyota Taco, CrewCab, 4x4, TRD. I was working a surveillance case in Salt Lake City. I drove throughout Utah for a few days.. Then drove 1925 miles back home (98.5% Highway). I ... HATED the truck. Hate.. And I have owned several Toyotas. I assumed I would love it. It was seriously the worst riding vehicle I have driven in 20 years.. I can only compare it to my 97 TJ w/6" lift, 35" tires... If I was driving and I drove over a bug, the Taco bucked and bounced like I was driving down a fire-road at 80 mph. I am hoping when I go to test the Frontier, that it has better a better on-road drive. I have a unique situation for my "commute". I live in the boonies in Northern MI. I drive nearly 100 miles one way from my home to my office... Then home again. The kicker is the last 12 miles is very rural.. and the last 3 are dirt/mud, and the last of the 3 is on a seasonal road (the road I live on), that is not maintained by the county. It commonly has 12-24" gullies/washouts. So.... As much as I'd love to have a car because 90% of my drive is 80-85mph, I can't make it home in parts of spring/fall, and winter. My disdain towards the Taco cannot be highlighted enough. I have a few friends that told me there had to be something wrong with it. IDK.. Perhaps, but IDK what. I definitely do not drive slow, but it felt like it was going to flip, and it bucked at any speed over 70. I was driving 80-90 most of the way home from Utah.. I did average 21.5 mpg.. Which for as hard as I drove it, it was more than fair. I think I drove as fast as I did to get out of the truck.

I just bought one and love it. I traded 2015 Trd sport for it and it’s light years beyond that truck. The only cons I can give it are that the seats need to go back another two inches. I’m 6’6” so this won’t be a problem for most. Second is camera quality, it’s on par with 2015 trd, just fuzzier. The trd camera was more squared pixelated.

I traded my 16 Frontier SV for a 19 F150 5.0/10 speed. I miss the size of the Frontier when the wife and I go vacationing (parking). I'm really disappointed in the quality of the Ford, one of the main bolts in the steering broke just driving through a parking lot and now it's been in the shop for 2+ weeks for what's looking like a new transmission at 46k. After 7 new Dodge/Rams since 2007, 4 of them 2500 4x4/Cummins I traded my 2018 2500/Cummins for a Tactical green 4x4 SV with convience and tech group. I have 2750 miles on my new Datsun and it is in the shop with issues. The cloth on the front seat has separated from the seat bottom. The rep looked at it on 01/12/22 and approved a new seat.The seat has a slight rock from the play in the electric adjuster linkage. The transmission has surging issues ever since they idled it up to eliminate the rattle/harmonic vibtration in the sheet metal on the engine with 300 miles on it and something is not jiving, Idon't know maybe it is the throttle body thing communicating with the transmission that it is time to go and it means quick.And that is when a Tervis tumbler of water or whatever it has in it pours all over your center console. The dealer has had me in a rental Rouge since the rep looked at my truck and a rep from the factory has called me on 01/13 and on 01/14. As far as design flawsgo the center console has about as much use as a bread box turned on end , the cup holders will not hold anything unless it is 3 3/8 in diameter and straight sided. The bluetooth dies when you parlk and kill the ignition. If you are on an important phone call and need to finish before switching to your handset, which is not seamless at all then you must finish with the engine running. Nissan took until 2022 to invent the gas powered cell phone, I am sure the Climate Change crowd is going to love that one. The popups that remind you to increase the volume on your connected device and the one that reminds you that"your call history has been updated" are so old at 2700 miles I can't even imagine keeping this truck for that reason alone.They hang on screen for 4 to 5 seconds. I didn't enter into my blue tooth to read, I did it to make a call. Why don't any of you reviewers point out these real world consumer tips. Their is a lot to love about this truck but if you are a dyed in the wool truck buyer like me then these are far more important than the remodel they put on the gen II. I bought this as my retirement vehicle as I am 62yo and chose this truck based on my families good history with the brand. This is my first new Nissan and my first small truck in 45 years.

Interior map lights do not work any longer when truck is switched off with light switch set in center position. When pulling a trailer only running lights work. No turn signals or brake lights on the flat plug. It is a factory tow package and has been tested and it doesn't work. I kick myself daily for buying a first year run remodel vehicle. Couple of times a week I get in and start up and the radio is on am instead of fm where I left it. I think it is mostly computer related issues. Master tech told me last week that Nissan recently released an updated flash. We will see. Been looking at a 2022 full size again.70k is a hard price to swallow.

The Ridgeline was the reference for the ride on new Frontier, and they got close. We didn't say the new Frontier rides as well as the Ridgeline, but it is so much better than the prior Frontier's ride, it's remarkable. Also mentioned here - the Frontier is a solid rear and the Ridgeline is an independent rear. The Ridgeline is still better in sheer ride, no question. The Frontier has become a truck we'd consider in this market, (We'd rather the Frontier off road) but if ride is the primary consideration, the Ridgeline is still better. This Frontier piece was actually shot after that Ridgeline film, but due to the "just released" nature of the Frontier this was posted first. Our apologies for any confusion. Thanks for watching.

But GOD WILLING tomorrow im going to get my new frontier pro 4x ,its the right truck at the right time . Ot took Nissan a decade tobget it just right but in this world of instant everything,this truck just proves that somtimes you have tobtake your time to het it right. Thanks Nissan, time for my 4th pro 4x, just a smaller version this time and thankbyou JESUS FOR BLESSING ME TO BE ABLE TO OWN IT!

All we see is the Pro4x. There is another vid on a SV that’s been optioned out. On road the front end is bouncing all over the place. Great for off road showing the long suspension travel. I do like the look, but Nissan falls a little short on options. The Ranger FX2 is available with a differential locker and it can tow up to 7500lbs optioned right.

The worst thing about a truck is the lack of long term storage - I like to keep camping gear loaded on the ready and would get things stolen from my Tacoma. Now I have a Land Cruiser. It's hard to warrant the extra cost for a really nice bed cap like the RSI Smart Camper (3-4K) when you can just get an SUV. You have to really NEED the open bed feature otherwise a true SUV makes sense. Of course, that's if you like to keep gear stored in your vehicle. The other issue, is I wish the rear seat would fold completely up and out of the way and the floors would be flat. (F-150 and Silverados are like that) When I had my Tacoma, I ran out of room fast. Plus, as soon as you add stuff, the rear end sinks and you have to add a leaf etc. I'm really digging this Frontier, but I hope the bring back the Xterra - an suv version of this would be awesome!

They should make the Xterra based on this truck. They will sell a ton. Knowing a Nissan, it will take the, another 5 years before coming to that realization.

Nissan just recalled the transmission for roll away concerns while in park. The cab is small, yal talk like its an SUV back there, give me a break. Its about the same size of the tacoma except the back seat sits more upright so you can get less than an inch extra leg room over a tacoma. An SUV offers way more space than this. There's nothing about the frontier that wows me or stands out from the class. Its not class leading in towing, payload, offroad, fuel economy, or performance. Compared to the tacoma it is a porker which takes away from that 310 hp rating which means nothing because in trucks we know its all about how much torque and at how low rpm. Nissan can add more sound deadening material to make it quieter and add hydraulic cab mounts to make it feel smoother, but underneath the skin this truck is old and is still the same truck from the previous model.

I'm lucky enough to have a family member who has a Nissan dealership. He has a previous gen Frontier and got the opportunity to drive the new one. Since he knows i'm looking for a mid-size and that I ordered a Gladiator months ago, he gave me a call saying "you have to test drive it, you simply have to". So he decided to order one with my personnal specs, saying "I don't even want a deposit because if you're not taking it, i'll sell it to somebody else within an hour. That's how good that truck is". So, if Stellantis can't get his orders straight and if my Glady ain't at the dealership in November (7 months of waiting would be way too much for me), i'll seriously consider that Frontier. It checks so many boxes.

If your only using truck as a work vehicle you might not care about ride. If you using it as off-roading play thing might not car about ride. If your using your truck to go on long highway trips often. If your carrying passenger's on long trip vacation hauler you would care about ride and handling. Driving Dynamics are important to many people. If truck is your multi purpose vehicle. Some engineers are concerned about ride and handling. Dodge with it's coil springs. Air suspension in pickup trucks. Honda Ridgeline is Unibody platform is not Body On Frame. It also has Independent Rear Suspension. Even heard GM was offering Rear Independent Suspension in some Full-Size trucks. Toyota engineer Mike Sweers talks about ride comfort design in New Tundra TFL review.

I'm still pretty surprised that 9speed still is only able to get like 17-18 mpg on the street, 19mpg combined street and highway. That's less than the 6 speed tacoma gets. Is it due to the extra weight?

I think Nissan made a good truck here. Key word good. Not as capable off-road as the TRD-Pro or a ZR2 and not as good of a ride or features as a Ridgeline. It’s an inbetweener. Which is a good thing. Good effort all around.
