2022 Pursue Peace Convention Friday Part 8: Serving Watchtower is More Important Than Food! 

Heard this many times. Worst life ever.

I still hear it all the time because my parents still go. Dad is an elder etc. Mom admits all the flaws but says exactly that. It’s still the “closest” to the “truth” we can get.

My dyed in the wool witness elder father parrots this nonsensical statement since I left the cult 42 years ago. It's pathetic.

I had elders tell me this.

Yeah, I've heard that. The best comeback to that statement is to tell them that it's unscriptural! If it's not the Truth then it's NOT the best way of life! In Corinthians, Paul says words to the effect that if it's not the truth then Christians are to be most pitied! According to the Bible, it's a way of life filled with trial and tribulation but it is worth it *because of the reality* of the promise of everlasting life. So if it's not the truth then it becomes a most pitiful way of life - and that is scriptural! But even from a purely practical standpoint, if it's not true then it's not the best way of life. How can it be the best way of life to die refusing a blood transfusion for a lie? How can it be the best way of life to shun your adult son or daughter for not continuing in your false worldview? How can it be the best way of life for your children to be denied the fun birthday parties and holiday celebrations because you hold to a false worldview that says these things are wrong? And I can go on and on to list all the negatives of the JW lifestyle. The JW will respond by pointing to the worst lifestyles of the world - a debauched, drug-filled life of misery and heartache. But this is a dishonest tactic of picking the worst lifestyle in the world and contrasting it with their lifestyle to form a false dichotomy. There are people in the world who live happy, decent, moral lives without the toxic baggage of having to shun their children for not agreeing with them; or having to refuse lifesaving medical treatment for false reasons. There are people who live with all the positive traits of JWs but without the negative, toxic aspects. That is the best way of life!

I feel the same way! This mess is ridiculous. I'm so embarrassed 😳 I ever believed it but glad to be out!

I was born in and didn't have a choice. Got out after 50 years of my life being stolen from me

Crist was appointed by God to judge the human society. He is a fair, kind, compassion judge. Keeping reading the holy scriptures at home 🏠 pleases God too. How do we know?? Because Crist said so. Yes this is one of the reasons I quit my Bible studies this year. I had studied for a year and it seemed like I was accepting a life of passiveness. I believe in active fighting for something you believe in vs waiting for for it come.. I voiced many times that it doesn't make sense to not be involved with matters or voting for issues that will affect your life.

They disfellowshipped me 3 days after I got out of a mental hospital for a suicide attempt.

I immediately thought that myself. I mean, it must be really easy for Tony and co. to ignore politics as it doesn’t affect them. For POC, including JWs, these are issues that matter on a personal level. Asking them to just go with the flow of a status quo that is rigged against them is to expect them to be complicit in the injustice visited upon them, their family and their friends. Borderline criminal.

My cat Lightfoot worries so much if he isn't included in what I'm doing. He smells me to make sure I 'm okay . He hated the meetings online since I was sorta paying attention to what was being preached and not enough to him . He can't sleep if he doesn't know I'm home. Lightfoot has me wrapped around his paw and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I wonder if it would be too harsh not too attend a family members funeral if it is held in a Kingdom Hall , knowing that there life was stolen n my life destroyed because of there lies I don’t think I could step foot in a Kingdom Hall listening too there propaganda

yeah I remember seeing an older brother in his 80's that had served as a DO and at bethel for his whole life. got kicked out when they cleaned house and he was living in a RV that a brother let him stay in and was handing out samples at costco. it made me so sad!
