Me too…most of us don’t have 10k to drop on a bike. I bought an R and that was more than I really wanted to spend…that said it’s definitely more fun going down than climbing. Climbing on it is a slog IMO but it eats up whatever you feed on the way back down. I really should watch some tuning videos to make sure I’ve got it dialed in correctly.
FWIW, got the lowest-end C version and have been riding since Feb. Have run at Sandy, Bachelor, Stub Stewart in Oregon. Just gave Timberline a go as well. I love this bike. Yes, I wish the components were a bit better at low end but this is more bike than most people would ever need and I realize that there's a brand/quality cost. Will replace to what I want over time. OP is hoping pros would test the minor build, but of course not! If you are an intermediate rider, I would say no hesitation if you have the 5K to spend.

I demoed one from the Merk on Friday, Living in Oakridge Or, I feel like this should be my next bike. Hell, it's probably the perfect bike for living ANYWHERE! Definitely ordering one!
Just ordered mine last night! Had been tossing between the 5010 and Bronson, as my trails are pretty tame, but we do hit the park on occasion. 5'11 is where I'm at too, and I don't love a super long reach, love to play, so this should be the money spot for me! Thanks for the review!
I assume that by now you have received your Bronson, how you liking it? I was thinking of the Bronson too but went with the 2022 5010 cause I mostly ride flat trails and I have the 2021 ibis Ripmo af for when I do want to do more rowdy parks.
Thanks for the review. Cool bike. I think SC and riders might be missing something special by not trying a burly, heavier casing 2.6" tire out back with a 2.4 or 2.5 up front. Something like a Maxxis DHRii EXO+ out back and a DHRii 2.4 up front. Waiting on your long term review. Despite owning a number of SC bikes I never got along with the high mount VPP suspension feel. I'd dig hearing more on how the low mount VPP feels. On a different note, if SC offered this frame in the Nomad's Oxblood red I'd already have bought a Bronson frame.
This bikes shape makes me think of the 2020 switchblade so much. It seems like these are the new looks for the all mountain bike. That Bronson is an absolutely beautiful bike looks wise components wise. Great riding and review.
@@rolux4853 no I dont...the design and look of the 2020 SB seems to replicated by most of the other bike brands who are hitting the all mountain bike category for 2021-2022 bike releases
I'm really enjoying your videos. Great work! I'm trying to decide between a new Bronson v4.1 cc x01 axs or a Pivot Mach 6 Pro x01 coil. I'm not interested in fastest down the trail. I want the most fun! Which bike did you have more fun on and why? Second, which one was the better climber? Ideally, I want the suffering to the top to be as minimal as possible. Thank you!
I've seen it the other day in the shop. That paint: mango satin metallic looks insane in person. YOU WILL NEED to get frame protection it looks like a bike for a car show. Great video guys.
I hate how RU-vid screws the video Quality. Even at 1080p is blurry. But I know that before uploading it it's clear etc. Btw. the bike is beast, I love it.
awesome review !! I currently ride a ibis HD4 and thinking I want to move back to a trail bike. Stuck between the Specialized stumpy evo and this new Bronson… Seems like the mullet setup might be more fun.
I'm on a Mojo 3 and tested both the Bronson MX and SJ EVO mullet. EVO is cool, but the suspension dynamics are better on the SC and similar feel to the Ibis
Thanks for the review. THIS IS THE BIKE FOR ME! if I did not own 5 other nice bikes, this would be the ONE BIKE for me. Is the Suspension Curve is more on the progressive side? The V3 Bronson suspension curve was way too linear, and might even be regressive. Putting in a Cascade Link on my 2019 Bronson did fix that "way too linear" issue though. I don't mind Rock Shox Super Delux shocks as they are more than capable, but it would be nice if the top build came with a Fox X2. I just think the X2 is just all around better with way more tuneability and it makes the bike look much better. Full 29er is the way to go for all out speed, and Full 27.5 is the way to go for the Fun Factor, but Mullet is a truly a GREAT Compromise. No Bike is perfect, but this 2022 Bronson seems to be the ideal ONE BIKE to own if we were forced to own only one bike.
@@TheLoamWolf : and if you compare with the Nomad 4? I ask this because I tried it with the Bronson 3 in the past, and it was a way better in my opinion. But maybe the Bronson 4 with the longer reach, longer wheelbase and bigger wheel would be (near) as good then Nomad 4 for downhill, but with better climbing ability? Thanks!
@@TheLoamWolf im traveling to santa cruz on the 23rd to demo a bike and explore the scene out that way. your videos helped with learning alot more about the specs and what goes into why they ride they way they do. hope to get to ride with ya someday and film some vids!
I would be very interested to see how this bike compares to a 2021 Pivot Switchblade in mullet format. One advantage the Switchblade may have is the ability to run a rear 27.5+ wheel and it appears the Bronson can't do that because it's not 27.5+ compatible. Has anyone figured out whether a rear 27.5+ wheel on a mullet bike is better or worse than a regular 27.5 rear wheel?
The Switchblade is a sick bike!! we really like it. It's more performance-racey feeling i'd say where as this is a bit more of a jumper's play bike??? MAYBE! Either way those are two of our favorite bikes and we'd be thrilled owning either one of those two!
Well, on flatter trails with smaller features and quicker corners I liked this better. When i went to the bike park or was lapping gnarly DH trails, the Nomad.
I'm about 181cm and change. I'd say you'd probably be fine on the XL, unless you like a smaller, more playful bike or ride lots of tight, twisty trails.
These are all some of the finer bits that take us a while to experiment with, but we may drop 5mm of spacers on the stem and try that out. So far no major issues though.
@@TheLoamWolf I'm just a smidge under 5'10 - would the L be too big for me? I demoed at Santa Cruz last week on a M 5010 and it felt too small. Hopped on my buddy's L Bronson for a few miles and man did it feel better! Didn't have a chance to compare to a M Bronson though...
What a brilliant bike. Shame that in Europe price-wise it just doesn't make sense when compared to the European brands...this would be an instabuy if I would live in the US
@@bikemike1118 true but they are marketed as if they are home grown bikes.. Maybe designed on US soil some times all the Asian parts are assembled on US soil.. They give the impression one is buying a US bike. But I would like to support more home grown bikes some that come to mind are guerilla gravity, moots and maybe alchemy but not sure on that one. But I would love to see more support for these builders in social media.
@@simonsays171 yes, sure these brands know that made in Taiwan in combination with high prices is somehow a contradiction that’s why they write „designed in the US“ or something similar on the bike. BUT there are still smaller companies who make their frames in the US. Of course these are not the 299 $ frames and bikes…but the Taiwan made frames are as well far far away with what they demand for them. I for example still have (and love!) my 1993 Litespeed Titanium Mtb..and it’s still a fantastic ride. Litespeed still exists as well as their former founders own company ‚Linskey‘ …both REAL US made…great quality and not more expensive (or even less) than carbon made in Taiwan.
Hey, I'm from Russia, bike class, please tell me which size is M or L? and how tall are you? and how is he landing? I also want to buy one, but only a frame, I collect it in parts, on my channel Привет, я из России, байк-класс, скажите, пожалуйста, какой размер M или L? а какой у тебя рост? и как он приземляется? Тоже хочу купить одну, но только рамку, собираю по частям, на своем канале
What? I owned every dropper on the market (from the main manufacturers) and the reverb stealth is by far the best! I love the hydraulic actuation and that you can tune it to your liking. No damn cables that need to have the exact tension to work properly and if you want your seatpost higher in the seattube you just pull it up with the hydraulics. With a cable it’s a total mess! You don’t want cable brakes, do you?!
