I'm a very conservative rider but have owned 3 Hayabusas. I'm the guy you mention who doesn't ride the pants off it and shouldn't have one ! Yet I keep coming back to this amazing machine. It will cross continents on smooth roads and prefers long sweepers rather than hairpins, is a lump to move around your driveway and when parking...BUT is completely addictive! Nothing compares to the Busa.

I have a 2008 busa with 11k original miles on it. I have had to 178 and have no more need to prove anything to anyone about me or the bike. I ride this bike because I love it and I am old enough that I know the cost of riding beyond my skill. With that said, as long as you enjoy the bike what does it matter. It is definitely a lump, but what a lovely lump it is. And I will echo your words as well: BUT is completely addictive! Nothing compares to the Busa.

The sweet-spot for the Busa is 4-9,000 rpm. So go and 'test' the bike in every gear [there's plenty of airfields or tracks around] and then give us your opinion. It really will spin your head [and that's the point]. For this test I think you'd ride a scooter around faster. The best part of a Busa is its Jekyll and Hyde personality - absolutely bonkers. Go for it ......

The few times I've put my 07 busa over 8000 I have felt things that are hard to describe. The torque is insane , you feel like she wants to rip off your arms. It's then when you wonder "how is this the same bike as the one that was so mellow under 3000? It's like towo bikes into one.

Sometimes I go into the garage and sit on mine or just to look at it. I absolutely hated them when they 1st came out. I was pissed at suzuki for doing away with the dual halogen look of the 86 gsxr1100 and despised the pointy look of the new design. Things change...I absolutely adore my gen3 now.

Hayabusa and Michelin Road 5 or Road 6 tires(which can last 8,000 miles to 11,000 miles if you do NO burnouts and do NOT molest the tires) goes hand in hand !!! Lastly, on my 2022 black/gold trim Hayabusa I can go close to 200 miles before needing to refill; whereby when I rode a 2022 Ducati Streetfighter V4S, I was ONLY able to go around 105 miles before needing to refill !!!

I get 50mpg out of my gen 3 on a steady run..

On long distance riding, did you find your back aching after a long ride or was it just as comfortable after the long distance riding? @@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne

I ride 200 miles to West Dorset stopping once to refuel. On the trip back I stop once to refuel, and once for a 10 minute leg stretch. Otherwise I find it very comfortable.@@markettradinggenius

I know what you mean about the non-practicality of the ´busa but....What a bike!!!!

I bought mine in exactly this color scheme.., I bought it bc I thought geeze if they are too ever discontinue it I would’ve regretted not getting one when I had the chance.., soo I jumped- no regrets Be safe- you are absolutely right in that most people who purchase this rarely have the skills to fully utilize it’s capabilities- I don’t recommend anyone try to test its full capabilities Without the proper skills or track/raceway to do it on.

I really regret selling my Gen1 model mate, loved it, did it up and just had to refresh the engine.... but it was a licence loser and old ones had no rider assists... Captain sensible talked to me.... but really struggling to avoid the new one..... superb bikes, changed little over the years, because they are so good! I still have at least one nuts bike, possibly two, but the Hyabusa is a cult bike and deservedly so IMO. Nothing else quite like it👍🏻 I'm actually a bit jealous really and would like to do a proper ride review for you now...😆

LOL!!!...The 86 Gsxr1100 was a license loser for me. I'm 60 now and ride my gen3 busa relatively slow compared to lane splitters out there now.

I think "Hayabusa"is Japanese for Chaffinch; nice looking bike, do you think I could get one restricted to allow me to ride it on my A2-licence? Fantastic review gents 😃

Had a really nice Orange\Black 2008 from new and traded in 2016, should have kept it. Regularly got 50mpg over 17,000miles even cruising with pillion up to 90mph (when it was safe, cough!). Open it up and get cramp in my hip, haha!
