This video I show have to use the Toyota Factor Key Fob to start the 2022 Tacoma. This Trim has the LED Headlight Pack, Technology Pack, and Safety Package. These are additional charges to the base trim and may not represent features in other trims, packages, or areas outside of the US.

My 22 TRD OR starts by holding on the 4th click not the third. I red three clicks in a number of places then saw a YT video showing four clicks.

I thought the whole reason for remote start was to warm up the truck specially in winter. Not that its hard, but shutting down and starting back up manually kind of defeats the purpose of remote start in the first place.

I agree with you. It’s something that Toyota has done that I have never agreed with and I never use it. Just a flaw that I have to overlook for an otherwise great vehicle

That was a great video. I have a 2022 limited without the tech package. I was using the app all the time for the first year, but I'm not paying for a service that should be free. Anyway I gave it a try and it worked. Totally blown away. Thanks so much!

Glad it was helpful! I know what you mean. I think it should be free as well, but I am sure there are some extra pieces to it we don't know about like the servers to handle everything that we are paying to maintain with the services charges. Most auto makers are charging for these things BTW.

Just bought a 2023 TRD Off Road today without the technology package and the remote start works on mine. All I have is HID headlights/running lights/fog lights, no navigation.

Mine has this…it is a bit inconsistent though. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. The cadence of the presses seems pretty finicky. At least on mine.

Toyota Fobs also don't seem to have the best signal distance in my opinion.

@@TorqWorks It’s not a distance thing. Because it’ll beep and acknowledge the presses. I do it do it through a closed garage door. Truck in the driveway in the snow/cold. Last night I tried it like 20 times and all different cadences and it wouldn’t work. Today it starts up first try. 🤷‍♂️

@@TorqWorks Maybe the closed metal door could cause some type of interference even though they’re acknowledged. Next time it’s finicky I’ll try opening the door to see if that does anything.

It has the program but Doesn’t have the actual system to start it need to buy it or get it installed at the dealer which is pricey

The Tacoma is way different than the 07 GMC, but I am glad you made the switch. That Solar Octane color is so nice. I bet you are loving all the looks you get with the TRD Pro. I don't have a video on just the features, but I am sure I can plan for that in the upcoming months.

Yeah I hope you can to. I have never had that issue. I never use the remote start and I don't use any auto start and stop if I can help it.

Is there anyway to extent the 10 minute timer? It just isn’t enough.

Hey there Lori, thanks for the great question and the watch. No, there is no way to change the idle run time with the remote start. It will let you start it for another 10 minutes for a total of 20 minutes of remote idle start, but after that it will not allow anymore.

No Brett, no Toyota from the factory allows for remote start without shutoff when you unlock or open the door. Thank you for watching though. Really appreciate you.

I guess this is package specific and not trim specific? Is that right? I think all Trd pro models now have this though.

Yes, that's right. The TRD Pro line up does have this option. Right again, it is package specific. Not all Trims will have this option and even some other parts of the nation/world won't have this option.

I ordered one with the tech package. Do the integrated turn signals come stock with the tech package? I’m looking for the new headlights, but when you build there are minimal package options.

It takes a few tries to get the timing down. If you should have the feature and still cant get it to work I would check with your local Toyota Dealer and they will get it working for you.

Hey Dave thanks for watching. I've been hearing it may be region specific too, but if you have push button start on the truck and Toyotas Connect App pack as an add on it should have these functions.

If you don't have certain installed packages your phone will be the only data to GPS the truck will get. You can check with your local dealer about other options for sure. I know mine I can setup a trial through the Toyota App that will activate GPS on the dash without my phone, but it is subscription based. If I had the Premium it comes with in dash GPS.

After you have remote started, can you get in and drive away? Canceling out the automatic 10min turn off?

No as soon as you grab the handle the engine shuts off

2020 trd sport with tech, less and all that and it doesn’t work. Cant even find a pathway for a subscription to do it.

If you have the 2020 it may not have all of those features as options. They moved into many of these options after the 2021 model year.

Great question. Yes as long as you are close enough to lock and unlock the doors this will work. You also have the start option in the Toyota remote app to do this from anywhere as long as you have that option when you purchase it.

Hi there Paris. It will run at whatever temperature you have set while you are in the vehicle from the last time you start on most models.

That clunk when it starts is normal right small clunk idk if anyone notice it. I started noticing mine. Any advice is it normal? I think u can notice it in this video when it ignites.

It is normal. It is a little noisy and it has port AND direct injection of fuel so the ECU (Computer) of the truck determines what is best constantly. If you are referring to any clunks with the transmission you wouldn't have heard that unless driving.

I was able to get my 2022 TRD Sport to remote start twice, but now it no longer seems to work. Any ideas as to why it suddenly just stopped working?

@@timphimm yep. Doesn’t make any sense. It’s like something got disabled. I contacted my Toyota dealership and they were clueless.

If it is a 22 then it shouldn't be related to the subscription. Have you looked through the settings in the toyota remote app? Make sure that you are subscribed to the trials for remote connect, start and all of those features. The insurance and tracking options can be turned off.

@@TorqWorks Thanks for the reply. Finally figured it out. I ended up having to hit the SOS button and call the support number. Apparently my "communications module" was deactivated. It took them about two days, but eventually all of my features started working and my remote start worked again. It was very odd that it worked on the first day of buying the truck, but stopped after that.

I’ve had both of Ford and a Dodge with remote start neither one of those vehicles would shut off when I would go back out to the vehicle are use the remote start because I’m gonna go out to my truck and drive off in five minutes or less I find it very annoying and I have a hard time understanding why When I’m going to get in my truck it shuts off for me to just literally restarted five seconds later that doesn’t make sense to me there’s no safety I can’t figure that out the truck hast to be a lock to even start if you’ve had another brand that doesn’t do this you know exactly what I mean I wish Toyota would change that it doesn’t make any sense to have the vehicle shut off as you literally get inside to drive away

Not standard but on most. It will say on the window sticker or you can check with your local dealer to make sure.

I do have the app. I am looking into this some more. Since the move by Toyota to Entune 3.0 and higher they have changed some things behind the scenes. When this was implemented on the TRD Pro with push button start a few years ago this was not the case, but they may be relying on a Subscription based service after the trial period for this to work at all. I will report back on this when I have real data from Toyota. I haven't heard back personally yet.

Don’t need the app for remote start. Not at least 2021 models. The app though you can remote start it farther away because its hooked up to satellite

It is just to heat or cool before you get in. I have never liked the cut off, but that is what they do on all their vehicles even the 2023 models.

What would happen if you are just finishing dinner at a restaurant and you remote start your car to warm it up...and someone comes by, breaks the window opens the door and drives off with your new truck....shutting the engine off when the door opens is the best thing they could have done.

My Nissan, Honda, and Acura will only shut off if you try to shift from park to drive without the key fob. They way it should be lol.
