Intake bible would be great..!! Too bad there arent many options at this point. The armaspeed is nice, but not nice enough to justify the price IMO. That is even after they reduced it significantly. The carbon diber is what adds to the cost. Make it all silicone\plastic and it will function the same and cost less.
@@Yalla2A Ive seen it. If you want looks it is quite the looker. I personally dont care what it looks like because I don't have my hood open with the engine on display. It is also CRAZY expensive and will not offer an more power than any other intake. For those looking to make a show car, it would be great.
Curious to see whether this adds any power or not. The intake resonator and the plenum that takes up space in front of the pulleys to the left of the factory airbox are supposedly important for performance. There's probably some slight weight savings with this, but I wonder if there's any actual engine performance benefit. Would not be surprised if it were functionally just an expensive aesthetic engine dress up mod. Especially curious as to whether there's any real difference compared to the stock airbox with the charcoal filter removed.
Good A/B sound comparison. I always love more intake sound. I know they don't really do anything in terms of hp, but I think it adds to the cars communication with the driver.
Hello! Do have any information if other aftermarket companies will come out with an intake eventually for the 2022+ brz/gr86? For example like Perrin, Grimmspeed, Aem?
I like the hose and the box, but that cover looks way out of place. also the design on the top makes it kind of look like something you get at autozone. I would definitely fab a new cover. but at that point, just buy something different, or fab something yourself.
Nice video again. Instructive enough, yet not boring at all. I am officialy subscribed now. Would really be great to see different setups on dyno. Or at least to see step by step what happens to the power curve after adding each of the mods. I somehow feel the HKS supercharger would be subtle yet powerful enough enhancer for this car in the future.
I bought the GR performance air filter, drops in the stock box, and it sounds pretty. I feel like anything other than the stock intake system takes away power. I may be wrong.
Haha, gonna have to disagree with you on making it faster. My only 2 WRX mods are an accessport and charcoal filter delete/Grimspeed high flow air filter… 😊
I wonder if heat soak is worse with this intake. The aluminum absorbs more heat than the stock plastic one does. That heat is then transferred straight into the engine and harms performance.
@Kevin Vo one more quick question, are you tuning the car after install? I'm wanting to get the uel catless headers intake and exhaust and was wondering if I need a tune or if it's safe to run without a tune 🤔
I spent way to much on a gruppem carbon fiber ram air intake system. Looks slick sounds fantastic, haven't dynod it yet but honestly as long as I don't lose power I'm happy with it on sound alone
That is one of the few intakes that I would say is beneficial. However, the gains won't show up on the dyno just due to the nature of the design and how the airflow needs to be at speed to see the benefits.
@@KevinVo makes sense. Sounds incredible. Not really sure it was worth the price tag but we'll see how I feel in like 6 months. I definitely wish they offered it in a cheaper material though I feel like half the cost was the carbon fiber
The 86 was never meant to be a car built for power, it’s always been about the driving experience and the communication between driver and car. Anything to improve that experience and communication is perfect for a car like this
so hideous, especially for the price. K&N is a decent option, but I think the upcoming Takeda is going to be the way. great content as per usual though, Kev :)
Doesn’t modifying the intake not always cost some hp, except for removing the restrictive mesh from the stock one? Even the supercharged 86 of my friend uses the stock intake as his tuner told him it’s the best option.
Have you tried different snorkels as well, I’ve seen pictures of the standard intake snorkel that lives in the bumper also has those little resonance chambers. It’s also quite a long path and could be lowering intake noise.
0:35 when Kevin said “no matter what intake you use on your FRS, BRZ or GR86 you’re not going to see a huge increase in power.” The lie detector test determined, that was a lie. IF you have a nice little spinny boy right behind that intake you will notice that instead of going from 0-60 in 3-4 business days you will make it in 1-2 business days. That good sir, IS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF POWAAA!!!!!
All this typing and missing the point of Kevin's comment. Nobody's talking about a turbo when they mention aftermarket intakes. Kevin has credibility whereas you do not.
