2023 M2 with 3,000 miles
Back at Laguna after 2 months and it was a wet one. Heavy rain for the past day with on/off showers throughout the day meant the track never fully dried up and at the T3 apex there was a constant creek that made the turn challenging and caused a few incidents throughout the day as well.
Overall it was a good day. I don't shy away from a wet event because there's so much you can learn about your driving, your car, and your setup. We went from full-wet with puddles and wipers, to mixed localized showers, and eventually a more consistent on/off light drizzle with sun.
Here's two of my fast laps later in the day when the track was mostly dry.
I drove more conservatively with no expectations of good lap times today, but surprised myself - twice!
Modifications:
Apex VS-5RS Satin Black 19x10 et12
Bridgestone RE71RS 275/35/19 (second track day)
Future Classic 12mm spacers front & Rear
Castrol SRF brake fluid
CSG CP brake pads F & R
Millway Spherical Bearing front Camber Plates
Rough alignment specs:
Front: -3 degrees camber w/0 toe
Rear: -2 degrees of camber w/minimal toe-in

How’s the car handling compare with Supra?

The handling is similar yet better in pretty much every way. The perception of handling is much different because of where you sit relative to the rear axle. Also due to the wheelbase differences, the Supra has more of a snappy oversteer rather than a more progressive one in the M2.

Nice laps. What kind of tire and pad life are you getting with this setup? Any unexpected issues with the car so far?

Thanks! Pads are doing fine. I've lost ~3mm in front and ~2mm in the rear. Tires are a more mixed bag. I expect 3-4 events out of a set of tires if you're driving them with a level sympathy, otherwise you could easily destroy a set in a day. I ran into an issue at this event going into T2 and the Corkscrew. I decided to late brake and I think the car was unsettled/floaty at the moment of hard braking and it freaked out the ABS. The brake pedal travel was pretty short ~50% of normal, before it was rock hard, and therefore brake force was also reduced - a similar similar feel to ABS ice mode (this is my working theory anyways). After slowing down more, the pedal 'releases' and I get full brake pressure again, but have completely overshot the braking point. This was most scary at the Corkscrew. This is unrelated to some other reports of braking inconsistencies with Sport mode braking etc. I already use Comfort braking for much better pedal modulation. I mostly dislike the lack of pedal feel in the brakes, but the car is immensely capable out of the box and could absolutely utilize 305 square tires if you can stomach the costs.

@@nodrogkam thanks for the reply. Surprised to hear the brakes last so long but maybe that’s just a good compound, and I’m sure the stock ducting helps a lot too. Tire wear is about what I’d expect for such a porker though. Unpredictable brakes are never good so your experience is a little worrying. Your theory makes sense but I’d expect ice mode more if the car left the ground or was very light during hard braking, which I think shouldn’t be happening here (especially T2)? Correct me if I’m wrong, never driven here irl.

@@BeanyB0b The factory pads won't last as long but they also hold up well from peers I've spoken with. As usual, consumables can vary a lot by just driver differences alone, not considering the dozen other variables. There's a considerable amount of lift the car has above 120mph and it's not necessarily a stable downhill. While it's not like the crest of T1 or just before the Corkscrew, the car is often very floaty down the hill into T2.
