Nice dozer, Wily. FWIW, the new D2 is the previous D4K/D4K2 (the new D1 would be the previous D3K/D3K2). Cat redid the model numbers on their dozers in the last year or two so now everyone is resetting their minds on the model numbers now.

They've sure changed over the years. We had a D2 we used to push fertilizer with and it was half the size of that one. Thanks for sharing

The blade stabilization is an amazing feature on the new cat dozers and so is gps , but those old ones you cut a path into the woods to start are the ones I'll take any day !!!! Anything pre emissions!!!!

I drove a Cat D2 back in the 80's here in New Zealand. It had a John Deere diesel made in Japan. Nifty little machine.

I've seen the old D2s.I didn't know they still made them either.A machine like that being a lgp low ground pressure is good around muddy areas.Being wide pads is good on slopes too.

Agreed Wiley, those controls are more like the space shuttle than the olds dozers.

One of my neighbors down the road became extremely wealthy a while back due to oil drilling On his property He bought a brand new John Deere 700 K dozer with a cab and winch. He has progressed in age has no kids so I go down and operate it for him when he has a tree blow down or something. Well I used it last weekend it has a whopping 37 hours on it now. Two years ago during Covid he was offered from the dealership $25,000 more than he paid for it but he did not sell it, he said I've got money then I wouldn't have a dozer😀

Believe it or not, Cat Dozer #'s have changed. That is a New D2. Historically Cat made a D2 up into the 60's that had a roughly 40Hp engine. The new D2 is larger. And yes, if you go today to buy a dozer sized like an old D8, it will now not have D8 markings. It is hard to imagine why Cat would have changed their designations.

I would say he wants $250,000 for it . He mite have paid it $200,000 2 years ago. Price go up with it being new an 6.5 hours on it. Only thing is be hard to get in for me. I have drove dozers before I lost my legs. I know if I could get in it I could drive it. I could make me a nice side by side track to race my Can-Am x3 xds turbo R on. I can see spending that kind of money to to build a track .
