The next 100k will be the real test, I typically buy used trucks (all makes)for work with a 100k-150k on them and have had very few issues. It's always the next age where they all fall apart (over 200k) except for a select few that seem to go forever and you keep driving them just to see if you can set a personal record.
@@alanruechel2240those are just my current 7.3s. I had 2 2020 both went over 200,000 miles with no issues. I rather buy a new truck so I know where it's been versus buying a used one and not knowing where it's been or what they've done with it. 🙂
@@ninersforlife7682 With that many miles a year, it makes sense to buy all new. I've bought a ram new in 20, but the the the other 3 of the fleet were used. But I only put about 40k on all 4 for a season.
@@Itsjoe1986 so it was originally a King Ranch and then I canceled the order and forgot about it. But they called back saying I have first dibs and they converted the order to an XLT to get it quicker. It’s for my parents’ farm. But yeah, it’s the console not the jump seat. I do prefer the jump seat though, had it one of my rams in the past, Laramie so it was nice.
I wish there was a delete for the step on the side of the bed, and get the longer running board. I've always had the running boards that extend all the way to the rear wheels. I don't care for the power running boards, especially if you live where there is snow. The longer running board looks cleaner and gives you more of a step. I noticed that the longer running board is not an option anymore, now that they have the step.
Ford makes a nice unit. Local dealer was rude to me when I started looking for my first truck years ago. Ram dealer was cool. I'm on my 3rd one. New in 2002, 2012, and now a 2021. Relationships matter. Nice work JB.
Just as an FYI ... I have a 21' F350 XLT with 7.3L & 3.73 rear. Cargo cap 4485#. I tow a 8400# travel trailer with no issues going up & down the hills & mtns in the PNW. I do wish I had the side steps though. I have had no engine problems. I skipped the tailgate step. The 10 spd tran is smooth as butter. I use manual shift both up & down hilly area's. keep it at 2500-3000rpm and plenty of torque. every now & then i run it up to 4k, but rarely need to. Once you set the convex you don't have to adjust it again. At this point, I have no regrets. .
JB, I think its great that Larry H Miller allows you to do reviews at their dealership. Dirtbaggery at other dealerships is off the charts, more than I've seen my entire life! I'm seeing a trend where people will travel across the country to do business with an honest dealer.
Florida dealers were forcing ppl to buy packages that weren't needed during the pandemic, so I've remembered that and won't be buying any truck from Tampa/South Tampa area. I'll keep my business in the Huntsville TX area, even though I've moved to Florida. People don't forget what dealerships were doing.....
Manually operated tow mirrors is dumb because you're always screwed for the passenger side when needing to fold or push them out/in, both of which I do constantly. Ford in some cases uses certain parts for MANY generations of their vehicles and they had to have wrung out the cost and further engineering on the mirror motors a long time ago. Case in point, I'll be damned if the seat motor in my '17 F350 isn't the same one that my FIL had in his '07 Eddie Bauer Explorer; they sound and behave identical. The lack of tailgate assist isn't such a huge deal. You can get a hardware soft-open kit for $25 from a bunch of different places so it's a very fast upgrade. Mine's not electronic from the cab, but I can just click it open and let it fall without worry. The lack of LED taillights and fogs standard is also annoying, although my guess is they don't because those parts of commercial trucks get bashed in all the time. Fleet buyers would be pissed if they have to drop a couple grand (versus a few hundred and ease of bulb replacement) each time a corner is backed into something.
I can't believe an XLT wouldn't have power mirrors unless the truck was ordered without them. Mine 2020 came with them. Makes it nice not having to fold or extend them without having to walk around the truck everytime.
I've had my 2023 F250 7.3 Tremor since May and have just under 9,000 miles on it. I wish people would stop the "click-bait" on these "issues" I have had absolutely zero issues with the 7.3
I am looking at a 2020 f250 7.3 L with 355 rear with 100,000 miles used because I cannot afford new because used your talking $35,000. Should I avoid this? I know it’s used and occasionally need some work but I don’t want catastrophic engine failure.
I’ve always taken mine off because I thought they were ugly until my most recent truck instead I got it paint matched and I will say they look AMAZING paint matched
@@SurelyYewJest if you don’t like the look of the paint match look into getting a valance off a tremor. They’re a lot smaller than the normal SD valance
Back 20 years ago, to get those payload number you have to get a dually. Nice to get this kind number in a SRW. I am sure DRWs are still more stable for towing and for hualing truck campers. But not everyone wants to live with a dually
I have a 23 F350 with bedliner and 5th wheel prep package. It took 10 months from order to delivery. I would not be concerned with the 10-15lbs of payload you’ll lose with that tailgate step. If you’re that close to your payload capacity it’s time to upgrade to a DRW
@@carguy0389 I know the towing is lower than the 7.3, but I'd like to see how it'd stack up against the gm 6.6 gas, especially if you get the 6.8 with the 4.30 gears vs the 6.6's 3.73
Great video, appreciate the concise overview. I’ve been on the fence about the 7.3 , I saw a nice one white regular cab 4x4 f250 FX4 off road pkg, right up my alley
I can’t speak as to whether Ford has fixed the lifters. Isn’t that the point of this video? Also, running premium will do jack squat to prevent lifter roller delamination. WTF…

I had one of these, lots of power for a gas. Had issues with the plug wires failing when towing heavier loads (within capabilities). Apparently they are updated so this may be a thing of the past. The motor itself is sound and old school plus lots of performance options for the "hotrod" community. I went to a Duramax since and still enjoying it. I am actually on my second Duramax (buy new every 1-2 years). Are you going to look at the mini zilla in the future?
I have a 6.7HO and 7.3 2023 Tremor both on order...I have had diesels in past and considered the 7.3, but the more I hear people like them if on a budget but they sway more towing due to lighter front end towing, and still at end of the day they dont hold resale as good as a diesel. Curious your thoughts on it...how heavy were you towing?
Super gay video....Didn't tell me anything new....Didn't let us know if ford actually did something different with the failing cams and lifters..?...Just pulled 31k with my chevy 2500 hd with the 6.6 last weekend....big boy truck LMAO

JB, I am likely going to buy the 2025 version of this truck. Long bed and all except likely the XLT premium package. Do you think the premium package will affect the payload rating?
Definitely need the STX and/or just a higher trim package. The headlights are just funky looking. They would have looked better if they would have put some kind of chrome trim around them or something to make them not so big looking. 7.3 blah blah blah. You will see. The 6.8 makes the 7.3 useless unless you insist on needing 20k plus towing from a gasser. The 6.8 though will almost certainly use the same lifters and cam. Maybe a different duration but the same material. This will show up a problem is there’s some kind of design flaw causing the lifter issue.
If truck manufactures would actually just focus on making solid work trucks with stout reliable drivtrains instead of worrying about a "refresh" with grills bumpers headlights etc. every other year they would be onto something... Me personally am not buying a "truck" to be stylish... I have no problem with a truck looking excatly the same for 5-10 years of production which in turn would cut huge costs from production which in "theory" should translate to an overall lower msrp. I'll take a "old" looking well made truck for $10-15k cheaper any day vs a "refreshed" overpriced turd.
Ford putting locking hubs on the rear now? Interesting hubcaps... The off-road package (not FX-4) gives 33" off road tires, higher stance, and smaller front spoiler.
I have the exact same truck, color, engine, bed length etc that will be arriving in a couple weeks. My truck does have the spray in bed liner and 5th wheel prep package. I will be starting a RU-vid channel and the first thing I'm doing is the new truck. Thanks for your vids!!!
Running 91 or 91 at 13 mpg for a gas V8 is going to be a no go for most people using these as work or daily. You're immediately adding 10-20% fuel cost for basically no reason. Ford recommends 87, that's what you should use. They'll sell millions of these so if 87 causes an issue, there will be a mandatory recall or join the class action lawsuit that will follow.
nephew bought a 2021 F350 7.3 motor junk because of oil pump failure caused by debris shed from cam/lifter, 41,000 miles Nephew said when and if Ford replaces the motor, its going down the road, He's had 3 Fords since 2004 (2 new 1 used) all 3 have let him down. he's done with them, can't say i blame him
2020 7.3 approaching 70k miles and I use my truck pulling a 16k skid steer and 17k boat. No issues other than a battery. I will most likely get a 2025 7.3 unless GM ups the power vs my business partners 2024 6.6 gas. That motor and tranny are an improvement over his 2022 but doesnt quite have the pulling power or mpg vs the 7.3 and I run 87 octane.
Oh come on - Did Ford Address the 7.3 Issues? You clickbait and then never answer the question. I stopped watching when you said to use premium gas to address the lifter and camshaft issues - WTF??
Ford F350 single rear wheel super cab 7.3 gas , 4.30 rear first problem steering at slow speed incredibly heavy yes sucks to turn around and park second problem at a red light. The engine and transmission are pulling so hard at idle if you get distracted and don’t have 100% foot pressure You just went out into the road. Ford told me everything is fine I do not know what to do.
Motor is solid, trans can be a lil clunky at times. Infotainment system is constantly lags and has many bus. Same with rear break assist and pre collision assist. So engine and trans are great but the electronics SUCK. ‘23 F250 Tremor 7.3l
Stop making such a internet big hype deal over the 2% of 7.3 engines with those issues & the majority are Cab & chassis , service body models not pickups ! You hype payload so much & you quickly brush over it without even stating it 🙄. Really ?
Halogen and incandescent bulbs.... Its an XL Buyer is using it for a lost cost repair work truck and cost of repairs is going to be a huge factor when employees treat work vehicles with no respect or care lots of the time. Crack a XL tailight, few hundred bucks. Crack an LED taillight, thousands
You know dang well they don't resolve any issues unless they are forced to. Hell look at the CP4 pump issues, spark plugs in 5.4, and other. Car companies suck
You are reviewing the truck I ordered at my dealership 😂 how funny I did not take the order i decided to stick with my old truck. I ordered two. one xlt (this one)and the xl with the stx package. You also reviewed that one. I preferred the xl stx even though it was more expensive package.
Is there an option to get the wheel well covered from the dealer? I haven't owned trucks before and hence asking. Just the paint may open it to rock bruises
It's because the truck is not actually on, if you turn the key on or press the push start button without actually starting a vehicle they will display the check engine light but it's not actually on
Use a zinc additive, like Luca break in, during break in period. I was told that the oil companies have removed zinc from oil. Zinc is required for the breaking period of new engines. I believe it has something to do with proper seasoning of the metal. Lucas has a break in additive with zinc. It was recommended to me that when I get my new vehicle whichever one I get to use this additive.
Hi JB, haven’t watched your videos for a while. Just heard you said you moved to Utah. What’s going on bro? Any videos regarding why you made the move?
My 350 lariat is being built right now. Am starting to worry that i got the 3.73, but my fifth wheel is only 10k lbs and I may get a truck camper so I think it will be ok
I would obsoletely stay with the 3.73. That is the perfect ratio. If you are 100% of the time pulling your trailer the 4.30 is acceptable. 4.30 kill gas milage, they are slow off the line, and top out at 72 miles an hour. I think you made a great choice with the 3.73.
Have to wonder if they are putting in the updated planetary gear sets in the 10 Spd trans. Fords having the dealers do all the older ones right now. Friend at for is doing a couple a week. So want them to get this sorted. I'll be selling my dually diesel soon. Need a SRW and don't need the Diesel.
I just got a 2023 ford f350 xlt extended cab with the 7.3l and 3.73 gears as a company truck. Only have 575 miles on it but so far i am very impressed with the performance. Had 3 different loads behind it so far. 1st load was 10k 2nd load was 9k and 3rd load was 17k. The first two loads the truck absolutely didn’t even care that it was behind it. Yea you could tell you were pulling something but it was extremely impressive how well it drug it around .The 17k load even towed very well but that would be kinda my personal limit as far as weight goes for me. Im from PA and where ever you go its uphill both ways..So far im extremely impressed with the performance of the mtr/trans. The truck also has a 110gallon transfer tank which was/is full of diesel fuel, a weather guard tool box packed with tools and chains which id have to guess adds up to around 1500ish lbs. Night and day difference coming from my old 2016 f250 6.2l f250 standard cab xlt with 3.73 as far as towing performance.
4:01 you can definitely use the steps to get out of the bed just use some foot eye coordination and you won’t risk scratching the paint the dually humps on the new GMs are pretty strong I’ve walked across mine a few times no dents.
This needs a sport package or something. Superdutys always remind me of a lawn care company truck. You could certainly throw a lot of mulch and lawnmowers on this one! I can’t explain why but Ford’s Tri-tone chime drives me crazy lol.
