I wonder if they are making any money on the car? It's already a little more expensive than the Tesla, but if it's not being made at a profit, it's just going to be another EV with limited availability. So far, it seems only Tesla and China manufacturers have been able to make the cars for less than what they're selling them for.
@@dereklwashington1132 same boat for me. Also other vehicles are just a bit pricier than what their value is to me, while having less features than a Tesla. I just want a cheap electric car with a good charging network, whenever they open up the supercharger network I'll probably switch.
They're both hideous but no one is paying $14k more for the I6 vs the M3 (with the tax credit). Even if you drop down to the SEL trim for the I6 the price difference is just ridiculous.
its NO comparison. hands down the FREMONT built model 3 is SUPERIOR in every way. the IONIQ 6 uses an OUTDATED GiMP platform , and the IONIQ 6 is built too HEAVY & INEFFICIENT. the IONIQ 6 is lacking Structural Battery pack & Front & Rear GIGACASTINGS (Austin model Y) . the IONIQ 6 even lacks a REAR only Gigacasting (BERLIN model Y). the IONIQ 6 Drivetrain and THERMAL system is INEFFICIENT , as Evidenced by the MUNRO Teardown of the car . the IONIQ 6 has a Hybrid thermal System that uses both PTC heaters & a HEAT pump , but its NOT as Energy Efficient as any TESLA Thermal or Drivetrain. its got too MANY coolant lines , running too far away from the Pumps, & the Pumps are not even close to one another. not to mention ALL the Discrete parts & FASTNERS required. in a word , INEFFICIENT. this ALL adds up to COST . and they have NOT even counted how many Discrete CONTROLLERS the IONIQ 6 uses, hint it uses way MORE CONTROLLERS and Hyundai does not make its own CONTROLLERS. TESLA in 2023 makes about 60% of own Controllers in the model 3 , in the CYBERTRUCK they are going to 48v system & 80% TESLA made Controllers. in the TESLA next gen vehicle it will be 100% TESLA made Controllers.
Ev producers, other than Tesla, cannot compete with lower prices without lowering workers wages and lower quality. All because Tesla are almost completely making their own components and having the most efficient factories.
Everyone knows the Model 3 has a relatively stiff suspension profile, but it handles really well for a 4 door sedan. Quite a bit better than the Ionic 6 in my experience. The Hyundai has a highway cruising advantage with the well tuned softer suspension, but the idea it navigates city streets and cornering better than the Tesla is frankly ridiculous. Some people find it difficult to hide their political differences with Elon, and I suspect the harsh criticisms of the Tesla laced throughout this comparison is a result of this phenomenon. When a reviewer is selling me this hard on a car that's being compared to one of the most capable EV's ever made, I can smell the agenda from a mile away.
Yea, this guy wanted to hate on Tesla so bad, bias was obvious. The ioniq 6 is a pos as shown by its terrible sales. They're giving them away in leases. You can get them for $99/month with $0 down right now.
This guy is wrong about the range on the ionic six. He stated that the ionic six range is only like 265 miles per food charge or something like that. However, the long range ionic six goes up to 361 miles per full charge, which is further than the model three. Some of these RU-vidrs don’t have all the facts straight.
Without the pricing difference it's a close fight going in favour of the Tesla, with the Tesla winning on range and efficiency handily (10% more range but with a smaller pack means cheaper to run), storage by a lot (it has nearly double including frunk), charging network, speed and acceleration, software and features, whilst the Hyundai is more comfortable, quieter, more distinctive looking and more conventional car layout inside (the last two of which might be a plus for some), other stats are broadly comparable. But factoring in price? The it's not even close. You can get a Model 3 long range for $14k less than the Hyundai as tested, which makes it a total no brainer. It's also worth noting that with a referral code, you can get a good chunk of free charging when you buy. Hopefully Hyundai actually make a decent number of the Ioniq 6, seems like a good car for the rest if the world (or the US if they can get eligibility for the IRA)
I mean you could save 10K on the ionic 6 as well by going for the mid trim which has close to 100 more miles of range which is not only more efficient than the Tesla Model 3 but actually has more range and put some more kilowatts per minute in the battery due to faster charging
Yes, it is about time something competitive finally takes on the Model 3. With that said, the tax rebates and credits really put some space between the two. It is also nice to know if you buy a Model 3, you will be buying a vehicle that uses more American sourced parts and labor than anything other than a Model Y. I get a large part of the population does not care, but then complains when their economic issues. After my 2012 Camry decided it was done after 243,000 miles, I decided to get an EV and went with the Model 3. I think the Tesla software and use of space is hard to beat. The Sentry mode and Pet mode are great. The Tesla app is very useful and easy to use. Scheduling the vehicle to charge during off peak times when at home and to precondition the interior 15 minutes before I get off work has been great. I went with the Tesla RWD, so the most basic one they sell, but it does not feel basic. I love that it allows for 100% charging all the time. One thing people in the EV world know is many batteries have to be kept around 85% or below most of the time. As Tesla notes, there is daily charging, so what you would charge a battery to on regular basis and then there is trip max charging. Those times when you will be driving 300 or more miles in a day type of thing. With the LFP in the 2023 Model 3 RWD, I charge to 100% all the time and it show 273 miles of range, but I think 240 miles is closer to what people will get with regular driving, AC on, etc. The one pedal driving has been great. I had always heard about how nice one pedal driving can be. It is something many builders do not do well, but from what I understand Hyundai Group does well with it. I can only speak for Tesla, because of driving a Model 3 and Model Y. It is impressive what Hyundai has done with their EV platform. It feels like many different models, yet they share much in common. For the average person the GV60, Ionic 5 & 6, and the EV6 would not be thought of as sharing the same platform. The over the air updates is something that gets glossed over by many reviewers. Tesla has truly mastered the OTA. Most other companies are still sorting it out. I have heard Hyundai Group has made big improvements on OTA compared to a year ago and I hope the trend continues. One of the reasons I went with a Tesla was how some owners of three year old Tesla vehicles said they still get features added by Tesla via OTA. The future automotive market I believe will demand solid software which will include OTA, so VW, Ford, etc, had best get their acts together. My Tesla Model 3 RWD has the 18 inch wheel package and feel nice. It is a big improvement over my 2012 Camry, which one should hope that is the case. One thing that is kind of hard to track or compare is how Tesla makes changes on a regular basis. Someone buying a Model 3 built in March of 2022 might be shocked at all the changes made by November of 2022. I know my 2023 Model 3 has the lithium battery instead of the basic 12 volt battery which has been a problem for many EV owners. It is something that better software is helping to deal with, but the 15.5 volt lithium battery Tesla put in the Model 3 and Y solves that issue. For the average consumer, they would have no idea that change happened, but it is an important improvement. I like that Tesla does not wait for model years to make changes. I really do think it comes down to preferences in style and willingness to pay for that style. For those who are not big fans of change and hate computers, I could see the appeal of the Hyundai Group EVs. The more buttons can feel more closer to a traditional vehicle. I found after about twenty minutes driving I got use to the rolling computer that is a Tesla. If anyone is buying a Tesla, remember to check the new in inventory vehicles. These are already built and often offer a little more savings. When I bought my Model 3 RWD it was about $1500 cheaper than ordering a new one to be built. I ordered one from inventory on a Monday and got it on a Thursday. The wait is not long and the extra savings was welcomed. Not dealing with dealerships has to be considered. I know it has little to do with driving a vehicle, but dealers can be a real pain and markups and hidden fees are annoying. I ordered my Tesla from home and did all the loan paperwork and vehicle paperwork from home. I am using Tesla insurance as well, so I had my insurance already squared away. When I went to pickup my vehicle, it took all of five minutes. It was a nice experience. Love seeing more great EVs coming out. Cannot wait for the day when people can pick from five or six EV sedans that do not cost an arm and leg from different builders. Having many companies competing is best for consumers. I do think by 2026 the selection will be so much wider and we may see some very nice options in the $25,000 and under segment for EVs.
Very interesting! I also got the Model 3 RWD from inventory(new vehicle). I got the midnight silver and since it's in inventory I got it for cheaper and I get 30 days of premium connectivity and 3 months of supercharging which is awesome! I also ordered it Monday night and got to take delivery Tuesday night
Excellent points and explanation. Overall Tesla is better than any other EV despite its flaws. I got the M3 RWD also. It's the cheapest but it feels premium because of the features that you only see in premium ICE cars.
Thank you for the well balanced report. Seeing reviews like this from people who aren't on the extremes with their opinion about Tesla is very valuable. I'm looking into an EV as well, and I just want the best value for my money. I could really care less what the badge is or how often the CEO puts his foot in his mouth. I think we'd find most CEOs insufferable if they had the spotlight on them as much as Elon has. How you you find the wind/road noise, and the ride quality at highway speeds? It's one of the biggest factors driving me away from Tesla at the moment.
@@jaredreyes3153 honestly for my Model 3 RWD . The ride quality is amazing. Seats in the M3RWD are much more comfortable than the model Y imo, but the wind noise is very present. This is probably the only downside for me as there are times when I notice it and other times when I won't. I feel like there are good solutions to the wind noise but I haven't bothered to find them.
I saw one of these and it looks pretty slick IRL, though the sleek design of the back end of the car appears to significantly affect its cargo capacity.
In the end, I chose the Hyundai because of its safety features, spacious interior, and the overall feel of the car. While the Tesla Model 3's supercharger network and software were appealing, I found the price difference too significant to overlook. The Hyundai provided excellent value for my money, and I believe it's worth the investment.
Just hit 1k miles in my Ioniq 6 limited long range rwd. Absolutely love the car. Fit and finish is well executed and rides very nice. The rebates don’t apply for everyone, if you’re a high earner all those incentives are off the table. We paid 62k OTD with a 150k/10yr bumper to bumper warranty in Southern California.
I test drove both of these cars. I enjoyed both. In the end I bought the RWD Tesla Model 3, because of the wide price difference and the supercharger network alone with the superior software. The Hyundai is a great car to drive, but it is too expensive for what it is.
7500 rebate is a no brainer... Reviewers don’t take into account OTA updates, it has improved my MYP tremendously over the last year alone... Hyundai is making good cars tho, but the software leaves a lot to be desired. Next gen should be a lot better.

What are you kidding? you're comparing storage say they fit the same, yet ignoring the huge storage the model 3 has under the floor (you mentioned it, but when you compared you ignored it)
This was helpful the video was great but I agree, I originally wanted tesla model 3 rwd...I'm a delivery driver and with the rebates in ca right now as well as the price reduction by tesla you could get up to 22,500 in rebates alone if you qualify for the highest amounts...that is half the cost of a tesla dramatically reduces your upfront costs, your financing, and even your monthly payments. I also heard america chargers are a nightmare and tesla super chargers are awesome and quick...the ioniq 6 almost had me. Ive been doing research for about 3 months for rebates charging options electric vehicles...etc another thing to keep in mind the additional rebates you can get from cvrp and cvgp only qualify for cars 55,000 or less...the 7,500 irs tax credit i think still qualifies for hyundai ioniq 6 ...but if you want 20000+ in rebates any car under 55000 is better.
One thing to note, the 2023 Model 3 AWD Performace which is the heaviest version of the Model 3 has a curb weight now of only 4,048 lbs. The short range version is 3,550 lbs. This Ioniq 6 AWD version is a portly 4,600 lbs. ! So hard to believe his strange take on the Model 3 not handling well while the Ioniq 6 does. The Model 3 in fact is often tracked and does quite well even as stock (minus the street brakes)
I was wondering what he was talking about with the poor handling, I thought it might be the added weight of the dual motor version. My RWD handles great. Very low center of gravity, it still feels heavy, but handles the weight with ease.

Good cars and good review but you should test the longer range Ioniq 6's if you are testing the long range M3. The bigger 20" wheels on the I6 cut the range by @15% over the models with the 18" wheels.
That is the long-range Ionic 6 😂. He said in the video at 18:39 Even with advanced autopilot and before taking into account the $7,500 tax credit it is STILL cheaper than the Ionic 6. If you buy the hyundia you clearly don't care about the value of your money. Simple as that
@@drivefast996 Not 🙃. Top "Limited" with an EPA of 270 miles as per the vid is the Ioniq AWD top trim range. The Ioniq Long Range RWD has an EPA of 360 something while the AWD Ioniq with the 18" wheels has an EPA of 300 something miles.

@@drivefast996 My point is . . . what's the point of comparing range between the Long Range M3 and the shortest range Ioniq 6? Silly. If it's apples to apples then compare with the "Long Range" AWD Ioniq 6. Highway driving over mountains here in BC Canada our Ioniq 6 AWD with 18" wheels is getting 320+ miles at @70mph. City and Highway combo is north of 350 miles.
One thing I think EV reviewers overemphasize is the car's in-built charger routing capability. Third party apps like PlugShare pretty much moot this as a significant factor in purchase decisions for most people. The one exception is if you live somewhere unusually hot or cold and the ability to input a charger location into the car's nav for purposes of enabling battery preconditioning might improve charging speeds when you plug in.
Big difference in convenience. In a Tesla, you don't need to do any additional route planning on another device. Put in your destination and route and charger stops are all there. Battery preconditions automatically too. Other apps you have to fry and filter out destination chargers to find the DC fast chargers you need. Not the cars fault, but the quality of the charge you find is iffy at best.
@@davekozlowski1266 You see it as a big difference in convenience; I see it as a minor advantage at most to Tesla. Especially since the fiddly task of filtering for one's preferred networks and plug types etc. only needs to be done once. I guess it depends on one's particular preferences, how often they go on long roadtrips, etc. Given that most people do maybe 90% if not more of their charging at home, and only embark on long trips infrequently, I don't think it's a significant factor for most owners. Which is why I think most reviewers spend more time on it than is warranted. Actually, given their relative frequency of use, I think the unavailability of AA/CarPlay in Teslas would be considered a good deal more of an inconvenience for most people than having to use third party route-planning apps. But that's just a guess; I'm sure there are drivers who don't feel this way, and I could be wrong on the aggregate sentiment.
@@officialyasir You're entitled to your opinion, of course, and I agree that there is no reason why an OEM at this point shouldn't have this sorted. But as a practical matter I really don't think it's that significant an issue insofar as daily use of a vehicle is concerned for most people, who seldom take long roadtrips and who indeed seldom even use DCFC. For someone who does long roadtrips and/or who regularly relies on DCFC it does bear significantly on a vehicle's usability, but that isn't the vast majority of EV owners. We own 2 cars that shipped without any facility for preconditioning en route to a chargepoint. The OEM has since improved the car to provide for battery preconditioning when routing to a chargepoint is entered into the onboard nav system. Does it improve the car? Make it better? Yes and yes. Will this improvement make any real practical difference to me operating the car? Not significantly. I mean, I certainly am not complaining that it'll shave maybe 5-10 minutes off my charging times when I go on long roadtrips maybe a couple times over the upcoming winter. But this slight improvement has very little bearing on how I feel about using the car on the daily. As always, YMMV of course.
Does plugshare really work in the US? Here in Europe we have no App that could help us in every country. Tesla, BMW, Mercedes and VW are ok. Polestar is acceptable. All others are meehhh.
Haha, I laughed at that too. I feel like their rankings and testing lack real customer experience. I really like the Ioniq5 but I don't want to deal with shady Hyundai dealerships for the buying and maintenance. I recently found out Ioniq5 requires a coolant change every 35k miles and dealers are charging all different prices for it. What a hassle! And now the Model Y is so much cheaper, it's a no brainier.

And if you want a real car you must buy a Governmoent Motors Chevy Bolt. What do you expect of people that get paid by Hyundai, Ford, Kia, Mercedes etc. Do you really think they are unbiased? Do you really think they want to loose their salaries and are unable to pay their daughters horse stable fees and the nice litltle appartment für their mistress?
While this is true for some Hyundai dealerships it's certainly not for all of them. I got an I6 Limited AWD in April from a dealer at MSRP when they were at their highest demand. That being said, I also contacted another dealer that had a 10k markup so YMMV.
You forgot to mention the Hyundai’s V2L feature. IMO that’s a big advantage. Tesla wants you to buy solar and Powerwalls to power your home. The Ioniq 6 gives you the option to use the car as a backup generator for emergencies. It won’t power your house, but could run a few key items in a pinch. Hopefully Hyundai adopts the NACS standard going forward.

@@garyco766 Many swear for massage seats. Me not. Many swear for HUD. Me not. Maybe because I’m driving 45000km each year and do not WANT to sit longer in a car. What i would like to have is matrix LED headlights that work. A always working speed limit detection and correct working reaction „system“. And possibly - if allowed - full self driving for everybody. And 100km/h for all on the Autobahn. That way those posers with their big fat Range Rovers and Volvos get less posing times. But V2G or V2H is not in my checklist.
Biggest issue with all tesla models is the fact that they remove quite a big chunk of their potential customer base due to the layout of their dashboard. As they do not comply with vision standards recommended for the visual acuity and visual field needed for safe driving in Canada for drivers that are legally blind in one eye (must at least have 20/20 in the left eye). Thus the placement of the screen is out of eyesight of these "potential" customers. 9% of Canadians and close to 11% in the USA. They keep on missing the mark.
@@robertt1336 but that is a discrimination towards these groups as standard cars don't need modification. They have been sighted by our regulatory bureau on this discrepancy. This is probably why our gov't has been enlarging our green hydrogen network as to offer more variety of cars for any kind of requirements. There are more hydrogen cars on the road than Tesla's.🤣🤣🤣🤣 And the extra thorn in Tesla's backside is the upcoming byd cars coming in a few months here in Canada.
I really want Hyundai to be the better car for the money. They do have a few advantages, to be sure, but the Tesla advantages of the seamless software, the super charger network, and the price (especially with rebates that Hyundai doesn't qualify for) still put Tesla as the hands down winner. That said I REALLY like some things about the Hyundai, like vented seats, accurate range, and if true, superior ride and handling. They just aren't enough to overcome the rest.
I'm so happy to live in Europe, where Tesla does not dominate the charging infrastructure, or where nationalistic tax-credits distort price/value comparisons. The charging curves of EGMP cars are excellent, and better than on any 400 V system. Sure, you have to go to a charger that can deliver 250+ kW, but here in Europe we have a lot of them.
The Model Y is currently the #1 selling car in THE WORLD. Not EV, but CAR. Outselling corolla by over 10k units. If you think the Ionic 5 is better, I would like Edmunds to explain why the Y is DESTROYING the Ionic 5 in sales. Clearly the public doesn't agree with your assessment, so there is something wrong with the way you are judigng cars. Probably something you dismiss on the Y as "not important" actually IS important. Performance? Range? Looks? Interior design? Since Tesla has no advertising and basically sells through word of mouth (friends, family & youtube videos), it must be something in the car itself that makes people want them. You should find out what that is.

Please stop making the Tesla community look bad and always complaining about not winning comparisons. It's their website, they can rank however they want. Every reviewer uses objective numbers and subjective attributes of each car. Also note their ranking was probably done before the massive price cuts on the Model Y.

@@officialyasir Except there are very few objective reviews around - especially by websites where the reviews make up part or a substantial part of the revenue base, reviewers are paid, maybe not directly but indirectly by car companies that advertise. Look at E for Electrics review on reviews - he said something negative about the ID Buzz and got an email from VW basically saying you're now banned from openings and no longer have early access to any new VW vehicle releases - makes the reviewers job pretty impossible - basically blackmail by VW. So rather than attack the commentor we should unpack the comment - despite doing no advertising the Model Y outsells the Ionic 5 by over 50:1 globally - There can't simply be 2 wise people in every 100 new car buyers and 98 fools so what is behind this phenomenon? Maybe some insight into my own buying habits - I would consider myself a relatively sophisticated buyer - I have personally purchased and owned 36 new cars and 42 cars overall since 1978. I have test driven many electric cars including the Ioniq 5 and later the Ioniq 6, but still ended up purchasing a Tesla. Why? Well the Ionic 6 was slightly larger for the passengers and had a more plush ride, but despite the reviewers comments the Model 3 was clearly the better handling of the 2 cars, I preferred both the interior and exterior styling of the Tesla but there were in the end 2 clinchers..... the first was the software / interface - The Teslas is snappy, user friendly and just works a treat, the Hyundai was poor, poor enough to be a real turn off and 2 was that the Tesla simply provided a monumentally better value proposition overall feature for feature - I think this is why Teslas sell so well they are still (for now) ahead of the competition in terms of value in most markets around the world.

Note for the note @12:16....The more accurate explanation for the lack of wireless AA/Apple Car Play is that, on screens that have the built-in navigation, the wireless feature is eliminated to encourage owners to use the native Hyundai app. I'm sure there is a cost savings as well, but not sure if that is factored into the decision. I own a 2023 Hyundai Venue Limited with an 8 inch screen. It has built in navigation, but no wireless AA/ACP feature.
Bought a ioniq6 SEL AWD yesterday and they didn’t say anything about electrify America but they did say I can use their fast chargers 24/7. I signed up for both 😅 I want all my extras

@FaZaFurhod Yes, absolutely, two totally different things. When they only had one factory (Freemont, California), they had some build quality issues. Build quality means assembly of the car, not the design/engineering of the car. For example, panel gaps were a common complaint on the doors, hood, and trunk. Those panel gaps happen on the assembly line when they attach those parts to the frame of the car. The gaps were not uniformity equal. Tesla has built 3 other factories since Freemont (Shanghai, Berlin, and Austin). I haven't heard of any mass complaints on build quality issues from the Berlin Shanghai, or Austin factories. Only the Freemont factory has those complaints come from. The engineering of the car is how they design all the parts in the car. Their design is much more efficient and has less parts than any other car manufacturer. Toyota has praised their engineering design as well as many other experts once they tore down the car and saw the "guts." Sandy Monro's company tears down each part of cars they evaluate and writes a report on how that car is engineered. They also compare how different cars are from one another from an engineering standpoint. Tesla's are far ahead.
Pretty satisfy with my model 3 RWD, currently I don’t think anything can beat it’s price.. the inventory price is 37.7k, if including the tax credit, it would be around 30k. I also have a Subaru Outback, I agree with the suspension on model 3 is terrible, but the drive experience isn’t that bad though. The EV sounds interesting is the Volvo Ex30, not this ionic6 😅 it looks so dated… (ionic5 looks unfinished… love EV6 though!)
Looks is nothing, as my son said, all EVs other than Tesla are just regular cars that's converted to EV, that's all they are. Unlike Tesla, a smart car not just EV.
You could have as well 35W quick charge on the USB A connector and only 15W on the USB C connectors. As long as you have not tested it stating USB C is faster than USB A is far fetched.
I am just waiting on the arrival of my Ioniq 6 RWD (in red). I chose it because of its much nicer interior, great range, the VtL capability, its excellent safety features on the road, and the styling looks which I much prefer over the Tesla
A good and fair review. As an owner of M3 RWD, the Hyundai looks intriguing but the quality and availability of the Supercharger network really makes a difference when taking long trips. The infrastructure for alternatives in fast charging is not there yet. Agreed with the lack of comfort with respect to rough roads etc. But otherwise the comfort of the cabin, including for the driver is good. And the ability to use the base-model tech such as with Autopilot really makes driving comfortable and safer, especially in traffic on highways.
how often people drive EVs on a long distance road trips though? I always rent when i hit a road trip. my biggest beef with tesla is build quality. hyundais are rolls royce compared to teslas when it comes to fit/finish/quality. that matters to me more than having the network.
@@joec.5009 Tesla has improved over the years. I have 2023 M3 and there are few gaps but acceptable unlike before. As it gets old you wouldn't care anymore then you will realize how good is their charging networks are. I avoid rental because I don't want to sit and touch a car that has been used by others. It was cleaned for sure but not disinfected. A friend of mine regretted buying Bolt because it's cheaper but worse charging network, he's selling his Bolt now to buy Tesla M3.
I saw a trend in a lot of other reviews : dismissing the Tesla efficiency. "Well, who really drives more than 300 miles...". Reality check : even for driving 100 miles a Tesla will use about 10 to 15% less kWh than any of its competitors. And being that you pay to charge the battery of your EV at a cost of $/kWh, guess what ? Tesla is always cheaper to drive, at least 10 to 15% cheaper than any of it's competitors. Compared to the top contenders (Ioniq 5, EV6, Polstar 2 the difference is above 25%). This fact, over the years of owning an EV, can become an important cost. That almost no one takes it in consideration.
For me it wasn’t this close. Drove both and for me the Tesla is a much more well sorted car. It just did everything better than the Hyundai. Interesting that you tested the top of the line Ioniq against the mid-level M3. The Supercharger network for Tesla is light years ahead of the other networks for cars like the Ioniq. The Tesla home charger is more refined too should you go that route. The public must agree because Tesla EV sales are up 30% this year vs 11% for Hyundai. What other people don’t consider is that new features and refinements to Teslas happen with over the air software upgrades and that keeps all Teslas current and relevant. Hyundai still has its work cut out to be a serious contender. The biggest global EV threat to Tesla will be the Chinese EV’s.
I so agree! Maybe 0-60 is a good stat for easy (if not terribly meaningful) comparisons among vehicles. But 50-70 mph is by far the more relevant metric, and it's never offered.
I have a 2018 M3... tested the red 2023 Ioniq6 on the weekend. was very impressed! I find the commentary too biased toward the Ioniq6. Body roll? really?! Both with have body roll at high speed.. but still stable. Driver display is weird.. but HUD is a nice feature. As one comment mentioned... charging infrastructure is a big Tesla +. Also too many buttons paddles etc on the steering wheel. I had 2 Hyundais... love them.. love this ..but if I upgrade it will still be a Tesla...M3 or MY.
I find review orgs like Edmunds and Consumer Reports are biased toward legacy autos. I expect they cannot afford to tick off the big guys, plus Tesla has nothing to do with them. Too bad.. it would be nice to see them be more unbiased.
With the white interior, the Tesla M3 does not look as cheap as with the dark interior. With dark interior it looks very cheap. No ventilated seats are a no-go for me. So the I6 is much better for me.
Looks is nothing when it gets old. The most important is the functionality. It's like comparing analog phone to smart phone. Tesla is smart phone constantly updating and with the best charging network.
@@TheTreb68 For me, the appearance is very important for my emotion when driving. I have to love the car inside and outside to be able to drive it with pleasure. And Tesla unfortunately offers nothing for me in the interior. The I6 also has good software and gets regular OTA updates. The charging infrastructure is very good where I live (2 minutes to a 150 kW and 8 minutes to a 300 kW charger) and the I6 charges faster than the Tesla. Tesla is just too cheap for me and made without emotion or consideration for normal customer needs.
Tesla has to do something about ride quality. Living in NYC, the roads are often horrible. You feel every single bump in the road. I drove a IONIQ 5 and wow the difference. Quiet, comfortable, and you dont feel like its rattling your brains out. I still love the tech more in Tesla and the supercharging network but if non EVs can solve the charging issues (should be soon since several companies are going with Tesla charging plugs next year) Tesla is in for a world of hurt.
I currently drive a 2013 Sonata Hybrid and have purchased six Hyundai vehicles in the past...The interiors are absolute garbage do not last, junk, crap, cracked dash, replaced upholstery at 75k, plastic chrome trim flaked off, failed window motors/regulators, steering box replaced, seat belt failure, and now the right rear door will not open...I am finished with this company...Good luck...
I hate when reviewers skip over winter when talking about range. In summer weather 300+ is great, but in the winter there is a good chance you will have to charge for any longer trips. We need to get where the winter range is 300+ imho.
Does the Ioniq6 have web browser? You tube? Net flex? My son just bought a model 3 June 1st 2023. Fed rebate is $7500 also $7500 (his salary is less than $53000) in calif.Calif clean air rebate Also he bought from tesla inventory so he got another $2400 off. So he only paid $23800 plus tax and license about $3600 for a new 2023. model 3 tesla
It's interesting that for Tesla cars, you pay for more range. However, for Hyundai, you actually pay more and get less range. The SE trim with AWD would probably be a better comparison because it has a more similar range and a starting MSRP of 46k.
I know with the Tesla Model 3 I heard of mobile mechanics where they will come to your home to maintain your vehicle. Does this benefit exist with the Hyundai Ioniq 6 or would you have to drive it into a Hyundai auto shop?

Can the 18 inch wheels on a Model 3 be replaced using the 18 inch wheels from the Ioniq 6? I am leaning toward the Model 3, but I'm not a real big fan of the 18 inch Aero black wheels. The Ioniq 6 has the 18 inch wheels with the silver blades on them that I think look much more sleek.
No way the ioniq compared to tesla. Hyundai can't give them away. You can get an ioniq 6 on lease for $0 down and $99/month in certain regions. EV's in general are not ready and not useable for most americans.
The design is not so great from the side and behind the car . It’s probably a great car but if I had to pick it would be the Tesla model S no matter what anybody says they just do way more plus safety matters.
I’m glad to have more options, but do we really. These legacy automakers hardly produce their EVs in any sort of quantity. This then empowers bad dealers to mark up the prices. I also laughed as nobody buys enhanced autopilot, just a talking point to make the price difference seem not so terrible. Anyway you can clearly see which company has an advertising budget 😂

Hopefully the Ioniq 6 won't suffer the now NHTSA-investigated ICCU/12V battery issue as my Ioniq 5 did. Hyundai is now repurchasing my car. While my wife loved the Ioniq and its looks are genuinely unique, it's less quick, less roomy and less efficient than our Model Y. There is no comparison between the NACS of the Tesla and the CCS of Hyundais and others. Until that changes and everyone else adopts the NACS, Tesla rules.
17:12 spoken like someone who doesn’t know what it’s like to live in the Great Lakes Midwest where that 40mi range delta at full discharge, or 28mi at 10-80%, could be the difference between making an entire round trip to another large city and back home or having to stop and burn the unrenewable commodity of our time as we charge an electric vehicle which we HOPE will help transition us to a renewable energy future.
Let’s not forget Tesla has over 100 voice commands. I’ve had mine for 5 years and rarely touch the screen..the refresh will be even more awesome w heat and cooled seating standard as well as double pane glass. Those manufacturers with access to T charging it isn’t all T chargers. It’s a few at each station…newest in so Oregon 51 chargers and three are open to non Teslas. As soon as a better one is made with reliable charging network I’ll jump. Please no more gauges between driver and road….
25k is only a theoretical price. The 7.5k is not a rebate but a tax credit. So the benefit of that varies from person to person. I just bought an ioniq 6, walked out the door for an SE long range that gets 261 miles of range for 40k on the dot. Right now Hyundai is providing a straight 5k discount on Ioniqs
@@DiegoSanchez-cg7dr Most people don't benefit from the tax credit. You have to OWE more than $7500 in federal taxes to get it. Most people either get a refund or just owe a slight amount so the tax credit pretty much only benefits wealthy or upper middle class people
@@CarShopping101 That's 100% not true (and yes, I've bought a Tesla and did my taxes with a tax professional, and discussed this at length). The limitation is that you can't get back more than the total taxes you paid in one year. If your rebate would bring you below $0 owed one year, the remainder rolls over to the next year and you'll get it then.
I think a lot of this comes down to what you like. Fanboys on both sides will chatter off “The drag coefficient is 0.03% less…the charge time is 5% less…the screen lag is .5 seconds faster” but it comes down to what you like. You could say “This chick is blonde, tall at 5’11’, D cups, long legs, and is completely shaved.” And I would look at my 5’6” redheaded wife, with her freckles, A cups, and burning bush, and pick her every time. There’s more to cars than stats, and figures. I’ve owned a Model 3 Long Range, a Model S Ludicrous, and just totaled my Model Y Performance in a wreck. I loved them, but I’m about to purchase an Ionic 6 Limited. Charge network is not as great, and it has less range, but so what? I like it, so I’m buying one. Sometimes, no matter how hot the blonde is, you pick the cute redhead.
Something doesn't feel objective about the comparison. Preference always seems to be leaning towards the ionic 6. and even when the Tesla is superior he ends with but or though, and says something positive about the ionic 6. I guess the only way to know for sure is test drive them both yourself. Haha,

Its 2023, adapt. 19:49, "6 is better to drive in pretty much every way" Yet u mentioned perf and directness leant to Tesla. (agree 6 is better for non perf drivers) / Car obsessive / Tesla fan / wanting Hyundai to really push Tesla. Tesla has made the car to appeal to the most people possible. My hopes are Hyundai are the ones to make something more driver / sporty (my thing)
I prefer Ionic6 obviously but unfortunately it's not build in US so it doesn't qualify for ev tax bracket which is $7500 and also it goes through dealership and you know what that means, Mark ups and all bs that goes with stealerships. So tesla is a better buy
I looked at a 6 today and its a nice car. Interior qualty is nice, I like that is has buttons still, but the cost ofthe limited model is 58k. Too much still IMO but better with the $7500 factory credit. The tesla Y and 3 are cheaper to lease but you can't get a hold of Tesla to ask any questions. Find a number to sales and its non existent. Try chatting online and its non existent, even at 1pm eastern time today. The Hyundai dealer was pretty awesome to deal with and he didn't try to sell me junk or service plans I don't need. I would say, don't buy a EV, only lease. The costs will continue to drop and like many tesla owners already, you could get buried in it if Musk decides to take 15% off the car overnight after partying all night. Lease for 3 years because tech will be totally different then.
Let's range, harder to charge, Less practical, more expensive, slower, less technology, but it gets a better ranking than the M3 of a better ride quality wich is subjective
