👍👍 Those hard unsuccessful days hunting make the successful ones a lot sweeter. I remember the first time I loaded my 4 wheeler in the back of my pickup truck I busted the glass out of my back windshield…….still makes me mad when I think about it.😡😡

Everyday is a new day. Elk hunting can change in a moment. Great effort hunting through the last day. Hard ending the hunt with busting out the window.

Great hunt good for them not to fill all their tags. Makes the successful hunts all that much better. Got to get after those wolves.

Dang wolves… hahaha well SOMEONE 🙄… tough kids for sure. Fine hunters they have become.

Sucks you broke out the back window. Nothing like some character building with some long day hunting. I have no doubt your boys are going to grow up to be some excellent hunters. Perservation pays off when it comes to hunting thats for sure. Sometimes the hardest thing is to keep a good mental state and positive attitude. Can be easy to get discouraged when hunting and just "go through the motions", seems like those are the times an oppurtunity sneaks by you (speaking from experience).

Enjoying the the bad days and the good days, that’s hunting(there really is no bad day hunting, well maybe if you break your truck window 😂)

Thats why they call it hunting, wouldn't be as much fun if you went out and got something every time you went out. Just being outdoors hunting on public land, spending time with the kiddos, not working, is what its all about!! thx for sharing the journey.

Good push with the kids teaching them it’s not always excitement in the backwoods 100% of time but great memories made.

I am notorious for bad things happening on a hunt. Keys locked in the truck, smashing the passenger mirror off completely, you can never escape it!

Glad they kept pushing till the end! Makes the kills that much better. None the less, time in the outdoors with family and friends trumps most! The balance of school and hunting is tuff but important. Thanks for sharing and can't wait to see what's to come!

Sometimes the toughest hunts are the most memorable. All about the total experience and the grind. Just look at the Atv memory you guys have.

Can be very frustrating wandering around looking for elk. Way to stick with it.

To go along with your idea of reviewing your hunts, I’d love to hear what the young guys have to say about their season. I know they can be a little camera shy but I’d love to hear their thoughts on what they learned, what was fun, not fun. We dont hesitate to take our girls out of school for hunts either. Lots to be learned that’s not in a classroom or text book. Well done!

I know the struggles of not harvesting but I wouldn’t change it for the world it makes the times you do that much better good luck next season

Tough time of season to hunt elk. If you’re seeing cows you gotta get further/deeper. Find those sanctuary areas. Unless you find a group of cows with a rag or two.

I recently read Cameron Hanes' book Endure. As y'all know, he's a big-time bow elk hunter. I like seeing both sides of the elk hunting, rifle and bow. There's an art to both. One you can stock/kill the animal from a distance, the other is more up close and personal. Cool series so far. Good luck to everyone!

Great job Dad. Way to keep grinding with those boys They will never forget that time they spend with you. I lost my son five years ago at 28 Years Old Way too soon. I would give up anything I have to be able to spend one last day on the mountain with him. Those are times your boys will never forget. Keep up the good work. Regards, David

I think a lot of people’s hunts ended that way from what I hear. We got into bulls during archery season and on my son’s late October Bull hunt.

Giving it your all and still ending up with tag soup is always better than just sitting at home. Not all hunts are successful. Great lesson for the boys. But, make the next hunt even better, new places, tactics, etc. Keep it up!

I'm in the top of the Idaho panhandle and hunt mostly public land. Never fails, I'll be out deer hunting and only see elk, then out elk hunting and only see deer. Still wouldn't trade this place for the world!

Seeing mule deer doe and cow elk are alway a good sign and it beats going hunting and not seeing anything at all but that’s what hunting is all about. It’s great being outside with family and friends, that’s what’s so exciting and making memories! Getting to pull the trigger and take some meat home is icing on the cake and being respectful of the animal is the main part! Enjoyed it guy’s!
