I love my 22 compass, but $42k is steep for a compass in my opinion. I think the Laredo grand Cherokee is $44k. Jeep is getting wild with their pricing
Yeah it's like they're trying even harder to become the American Land Rover/ Range Rover especially with the Grand Cherokee Overland, Summit, & Summit Reserve
When I bought my renegade I was hoping they had the compass on the lot but they had none and I wasn't able to wait for them to get any in since my old truck was totaled out. But now with a bigger family than just the wife and a dog the grand Cherokee is going to be where its at for us.
The Compass was designed as slightly smaller than a Cherokee with a more comfortable ride on the road. Pricewise it's not that much more than the 2021-22. My biggest issue is with most turbo engines, is Gas Direct Injection. All GDI engines suffer from carbon build up in the intake manifold and on the backs of the exhaust valves (with the exception of the few GDI engines that have duel injection or next generation injection, meaning the addition of port Injection). The fact is after 60,000 miles, all single injection GDI, will start to exhibit moderate to major performance degradation because of carbon build up. While this can be mitigated by prophylactic chemical cleaning, once it's established the only sure remedy is pulling off the intake manifold and blasting off the carbon, usually with a walnut medium, which is a very expensive procedure. Specific model engines from Toyota/ Levuxs, Audi, Ford , Hyundai and Nissan have dual injection, including; Redesigned Ford 3.5L EcoBoost and V6 engines. Lexus 2GR-FSE engines. Audi's VW Group 3.0-liter V-6 and 5.2-liter V-10 engines. Toyota's 2.0-liter in-line four-cylinder engines built by Subaru, and D4-S 3.5-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V-8 engines. If you plan on keeping a new car past 60,000 miles, I would not buy a single injection GDI/ turbo unless you are willing to commit to the extra maintenance of chemicals cleaning the intake manifold. Or learn to walnut blast your intakes yourself. All you need is a compressor with special attachment, walnut shells and a shop vac. Pain in the butt. Former mini Cooper owner
Got an email from a nearby dealer advertising '23 Compass Limited Elites for 36,587 (MSRP 43,160). The 2.0 turbo and 8 speed make it a better package. Not a fan of the huge LCD screen or the panoramic moon roof. Jeeps aren't known for their reliability and it is made in Mexico. If I was shopping I might demo one at the sale price. Picked up a '23 CX-5 PP (similar trim level) for my wife in February (MSRP 37k) and it's been flawless. One of the reasons we chose it is it's made in Japan.
I have an 18 Compass Limited with the 2.4 Tigershark which is barely adequate and gives a lousy 24 avg mpg. Also have a 23 GC Altitude that stickered for only 7 grand more than this 42K 23 Compass. My 23 GC is well worth the extra 7 grand over the Compass.
@@theguy4615 No did not buy it, we could not come to decent terms on a lease. Seems common these days with market adjustments and financing really difficult. However, one manufacturer came the rescue with decent terms, that would be Nissan. Now have a 23 Rogue with a decent payment, it's a nice rig somewhat bigger than the Compass, or Seltos size SUV's. I'm happy with a lease payment of 383. Nobody was even close to that, and they actually knocked off money on the sticker price.
