2023 Mahindra Scorpio-N Review: I DID NOT expect this... RIP Toyota Prado?

The Mahindra Scorpio-N is a Toyota LandCruiser Prado at a 50% discount…
This 6 seat Indian SUV provides proper off-road credentials, decent diesel performance, and a strangely luxurious interior to boot - but does that mean you should spend $45,000 on one? Lets talk about that in todays review!

For me, this rig is the clear standout in its segment. The value proposition, is outstanding. $45,000 vs AT LEAST $60-70k for an equivalent "premium" (sarcasm) option. The money you'd save is the equivalent of AT LEAST ten years of fuel. The Mahindra is the clear winner - lest you want to play "the Aussie" and hand over your hard earned to Japanese car company executives and shareholders.
@bravohotel
@bravohotel Год назад
@@shaun1900 in my view, the "safety equipment" you espouse are false positives - lane keep assist etc. I personally don't care for them, or feel they're necessary, or believe they increase safety. It'll depreciate faster than your king of mediocrity (wank) chariot (not looking at you, Toyota), but it's starting from a much lower cost base, so actual depreciation figures will likely be similar. If you don't have a dealer in your area, don't buy - sure. And the gremlins, they're not nearly deal breakers. Let's return to the value proposition - $45k vs AT LEAST $60k (more like $70k to $80k) for something in the same spec range. It's still a no brainer as far as I'm concerned.
@bravohotel
@bravohotel Год назад
@@shaun1900 great retort ... Good value does not equate to "cheap". Poor value does. I could make the argument that more expensive vehicles that don't deliver value are "cheap". Cheap simply means that something is of poor value. Toyota Hilux, 300 series etc are "cheap". A vehicle which is half or a third of the price, which does the same thing .... that's a premium vehicle.

A very good and as an owner a correct review. Autobstart a poor future. The sound quality of the sound system better than Prado. The safety features is not serious to me, it has airbags, abs and traction control who works very well. I have taken out the rear seats and then the boot is better than a Prado and it has a 12 v socket, the Prado none. Its a 5 minute job to take out the 3rd row seats. How is it "no Toyota"? Have you driven a Toyota lately? They're nothing to write home about. Very average features and interior. Overhyped reliability. I mean, I'm fairly confident when I say the Scorpio-N drives better than a Fortuner (a pig on-road, imo). Golly gosh.

No biggy, but in Australia isn't it "Scorpio" and in India it's "Scorpio-N"? I know the badge on the back of this one says "Scorpio-N", but I think the first examples into Australia had the incorrect badges on the vehicles from the factory. Anyhoo, this is a pretty decent effort here from Mahindra, just as the XUV700 is too, so I hope more people get to experience the brand. They deserve to sell in good numbers here.

Scorpio and Scorpio-N are both different Scorpio is old gen but still practical without much of new gen tech and very affordable in India whereas Scorpio -N is more packaged as VFM product

I agree with your many points. Specially has to look upon safety part (Automation). 7:40 It's maybe cheap for many countries but saying cheap car totally reflects your CHEAPNESS. This is less price compare to the same segments car just to make it affordable for Indians. Mahindra can put everything you said that was missed but somehow its unnecessary features increase the price of this CAR. 6:06 And for your kind information, APPLE CAR PLAY just came with an UPDATE is needed. Autonomous start stop is not a bug it's a feature to save fuel and to add mileage! It kills engine while on stoping to save fuel and starts right up when you put foot on gas and turning off Autonomous start and stop after stopping then you have to start the engine again as it shows that you have turned the autonomous start and stop off

and that particular "feature" is an engine killer , most wear and tear happens when the engine is thermally cycled and during the first few seconds of starting. it is same as turning your florescent light on and off too often. if you do not let it warm up it will fail sooner. if the stop is for less than 2 3 mins there is no reason to turn the engine off. yes it will save fuel but that savings is always lesser than the price of new engine.

I have booked one in Australia...it will be having apple car play software update. Safety features doesnt matter to me; as in my current car, i dont use them. I rely upon my senses. Its sound system is awesome, nothing to complaint about it. Auto start on-off; is an issue; will see if I can turn it off in software. Its driving experience is very good. Noise in drivers cabin is mimimum.

Hi All, I bought a Scorpio-N 4xplor in September - the vin indicates made in January 2023. It has a loose steering issue which Mahindra SA is busy investigating. I spoke to another person with the same problem and their Scorpio-N was also made in January 2023. Are there any members here who have a similar issue and their vin number starts with MA1TK4YTTP6A With the 10th letter P indicating the year 2023 and the 12th letter A the month. It is a feeling of a loose component on the steering while traveling at low speeds over rough terrain. Could you please comment if you have a vehicle with the same problem and vin?
