Great detailed review. Wishing this had been out 6 months ago. But is that not always the case? The seating in Nissans are some of the best. It's actually surprising other manufacturers have not gone to some type of memory foam.

I'm one of the few that finds the zero gravity seats uncomfortable. They're hard and flat and it takes me about an hour to get comfortable in them but after that, they feel great. Exceptional for road trips though. Hopefully with the omission of the maxima, the next gen will have a more premium cabin with better build quality and more features.

This generation Altima ain't bad. Refresh definitely sharpens the front up even more. A welcomed change. Not happy about the cheap exterior lighting assembly(s) but at least there's a Maxima for that... Also SR now being the top trim is confusing for long time Nissan shoppers... they chopped 2 trim levels off of the model. SR is synonymous with cheap (to anyone who knows what Nissan trim levels USED to mean)- shoulda went with a name change imo. P.S., -first 🤓

Honestly this is a genuinely competitive product, they drive nice, are comfortable, better equipped than Toyota and Honda for the price, and they’re discounted. Hoping the transmission is really reliable but my local dealer does a lifetime warranty on it if you can prove you did all the fluid changes. I can also get 2-3k off MSRP on these, can’t do that most brands
@lanaofficiel4042
@lanaofficiel4042 Год назад
Hi Dave. There is a mechanic on You Tube and he is an expert on transmissions and he said in one video regarding the Nissan CVT that sometimes changing the CVT fluid can NEGATIVELY affect the CVT and that's it isn't always necessary to change the trans fluid. Also, just wondering where is your dealer located because I sure would like to get a lifetime warranty on the Altima transmission. I owned two Nissan Altimas and my current ride is a Nissan Altima and I've never had any problems with the transmission. I don't understand all the negative comments about the Nissan Altima. Mine have driven well, they're comfortable, good gas mileage much better gas mileage than my second car, a Honda Accord. I love Nissan Altima and I'm seriously considering getting the 23 Altima with AWD because I live in an area where it snows but not continuously. I just want to research how the AWD does in the snow. Higher SUVs are not that comfortable for my back. Please let me know where your dealer is located. I'm in Northern New Jersey. Thanks.

Hello! I just seen your update on the upcoming video you are planning to make regarding reliability. I worked in the auto industry a long time and I can tell you from experience most Asian vehicles hold up better for long term ownership specifically Toyota/ Lexus. I also seen several Hyundais and Kias hold up depending on the year and model. I noticed the Korean vehicles from 2007- 2010 seemed to be their best time specifically the Sonata. I owned over 20 vehicles in my life and I can honestly say my 2012 Hyundai Equus was my favorite vehicle and my 2020 Lexus GS350 is a close second. Both of these were very reliable for me. I also want to share if you decide to buy a luxury European brand keep in mind the extended warranty on those brands tend to be very, very expensive compared to a Lexus or Acura. I had a customer purchase a 2020 BMW 3 series with 60k miles and a 2 year 24k warranty cost $5600! Compare that to a 2020 Lexus IS350, the extended warranty only cost $1700 and that was a 3 year 36k warranty!
@MeynMotorGroup
@MeynMotorGroup Год назад
Yes! Thank you so much my friend you came in clutch with this info. And yup thank you for sharing the warranty cost info as well you are so right, that’s another huge advantage for Japanese luxury cars the warranties are very cheap compared to the Euro cars and that’s only for a 3 series, 7 series would be a fortune

I'm am looking towards Nissan's now. They seem to be Stepping their Game Up. I think their biggest downfall is the CVT. I've done some research and there seems to be a lot of mixed reviews. For example I see higher complaints from People who drive Altima over the years the transmission failed easily compared to owners of the Maxima or Murano. And the Pathfinder has gone back to the traditional tranny. Maybe Nissan might be replacing the CVT in the next few years. I currently live in Minnesota and I am not really interested in a SUV but I like the fact the New Altima has AWD. I know the new Toyota Camry comes with AWD as well. But I am on my 2nd Camry and both have given me issues. I'm ready to look for something else.
@MeynMotorGroup
@MeynMotorGroup Год назад
Yes the CVT I think is being phased out for the 9 speed found in the Path most likely. The performance of all these transmissions are great but if you are truly going to keep this long term, CVTs aren’t the best. Can you please share with us the issues you’ve had with your Camry? I’m going to be making a video on reliability soon

@@devongee1776 I agree with you the newer ones like Scotty Kilmer would say " are just too new to know what their reliability would be ". I know growing up late 80s and 90s, the 3 most popular Japanese Brands were Toyota, Honda & Nissan. Some where by the mid 2000s Nissan had fell off. But I believe that's when Renault took over. My Aunt had ordered a brand new 2005 Altima 3.5 back then. It was sharp and Reliable, she had it until 2012? But then got rid of it when the Transmission failed. And I can't tell you what her mileage was. But she told me it was a good car. Hopefully Nissan/Infiniti gets back on track.

@@MeynMotorGroup Sure , now somethings I believe that my Camry's were damaged before I purchased them or the fact that I got them from Carmax. Although alot of people don't believe me. I had a Pre-owned 2014. That Generation year 2012-2014 they claim had a good engine. It was too slow 170 hp , horrible in the snow and the Material was cheap. You could pop off things or break things in the interior. Trying to past people or get on the highway the Car would Fart out Blueish, Grayish Smoke from the exhaust pipe. Took it to 3 Toyota dealership to find out It might have a bad ignition coil , then 8 months after found out there was Antifreeze Seepage into my engine oil etc. By that time I traded her in at another Carmax. I have a 2018 Camry LE, my Camry was actually made in Japan in June of '17. To make a long story short. It was in a previous accident I didn't know about. The Alignment is never straight. There is electrical issues at times where it's like the car has a glitch. And twice the car started smoking a bit. All of these things were brought up at two different Toyota Dealerships and no one can find the issues. Told them about my Transmission at times seems not to be responsive whiles driving etc. Started doing research and recalls although I was told all of recalls on my Car were fixed. I found Several Recalls on the 2018 Camry. The engine piston were built too big for the engine. The brakes could go out. Bad Fuel Pump, and other issues you could look up if you want concerning this Generation Camry. Looking at other Videos there are people complaining about their Transmission issues as well. Some had to get replaced. Good luck on your research.

Toyota's long-established quality reputation, whether or not it's still deserved today, is so strong that it continues to backpack the brand to the top of sales. Anecdotal tradition in families and seemingly immortal critics like Scotty Kilmer feed the notion that Toyota is the best brand out there. In reality that entirely depends on what you're shopping for & value in a car. Toyota will not, perhaps even *can not* offer you the best in performance and technology whilst also upholding their reputation for relatively problem-free vehicles. Having more in a car means having more potential for equipment failures. As an appliance it's hard to beat a Camry because they're allegedly so well built that even if you're damn near incompetent when it comes to following maintenance intervals, the Toyotas can take abuse and neglect from the borderline NPC's who are buying them. Ease of use is a big seller. No gimmicks, no complication. To some people less is more. For some reason.

I did have a 2007 Camry XLE v6. now I drive a 2012 Toyota Venza XLE v6 AWD . my experience. Toyota doesn't drag you to the mechanic a lot. you will need to change breaks when it's time for it and shocks strut. but all you have to do is change your engine oil every 5000 miles using a good-quality oil filter. you're good to go.

Toyota is a loud unrefined cardboard box with a great reputation. That being said, Honda also has this same reputation and I have no idea how Honda achieved that and why the masses think it’s so reliable, maybe because they make lawnmowers? Idk But I know people who’ve had crappy Toyota experiences, but it’s the brand you can trust they most and they have the least amount of horror stories all things considered. I’m going to be making a video about reliability soon and how random it is. There was once a time when you could drive a Porsche 911 for the same payment as a Toyota Highlander but most are unwilling to educate themselves on such matter and instead focus on “reliability” rather than how to buy.
