Awesome review. Sharp, to the point, conscise. Love it. Im on the earlier Rise M20 and you have saved my day, and my bank balance, as I dont run out of battery, whew. I bought mine used at 1/2 retail for the 021 model. I would never spring AUD15k for a pushbike, that is motorbike money.
@@BikersEdgeKaysvilleyou absolutely nailed it with this one bro . I had the M10 2021 and I literally JUST bought the 2023 Rise M10 it’s 💯 better than, it’s just a bit more Chucky , the 540W battery 🔋 is amazing and guess what? I paid 4k for the 21 bike and 3.8K for the 2023! Brand new! Amazing 🤩
This is the bike I want to purchase for my wife to get her up on the trails again. She has a bulged disc that gets aggravated when pedaling up hill (she can play tennis totally fine, it's sitting and climbing). I just wish the prices weren't more than a moto, but I get the current stupid bike market, I just don't like it. Sweet looking bike, they certainly have made it better. Thanks Conner!
I am loving the feel of the Alu frame on my 2022 RISE H15, with the right brakes & tires (to choose from the options) makes it a a solid playful capable bike
Got a h15 too (last march). Tons of range. Did put on Continental Cryptotal tires and slx brakes with 200mm full steel rotors from Magura. A stiffer back linkage would be nice. 👍 We will see if it is build to last.
Not to forget that if you get the range extender you get a monster battery basically 800 wh without much of a weight penalty allowing you to basically do almost every ride on turbo mode!
Still love my Rise but if I were to get a new bike I thing it would be one with the new Pinion MGU. For me a sealed motor/gearbox is next-gen ebike. That would be what it would take to warrant an upgrade.
Thanks for the review! How many miles were you able to get on your ride? How much does it weight? I have the Alum version (H20 Hydro), and can Ascend 12 Miles/5000 FT with 2-3 Bars left. I weight 165Lbs and in average shape. I also ride with the power off with when riding with my non electric riding group - its very rid. Is the Carbon worth the extra money v.s. the Aluminum?
As a long time mtb rider/racer I finally ordered my first e-mtb. Got the '23 Rise M LTD and can't wait till it gets here. I'm 59 y/o so the "e" part of it is gonna be nice. I did order it with the 540W battery since I got it for only 80 bucks more and it only ads little over 1 1/2 lbs more. I thought for sure you were gonna tell us in this vid how far and long you rode (you said boost mode the whole time, right?) and how much battery was left. Do you remember these things by chance?? Regardless I don't think I will ever ride far/long enough to come close to draining this 540W battery...I think
Go check out our lightweight emtb showdown on the main channel. We’ve got the battery numbers with range and elevation in that video. I don’t remember off the top of my head and don’t want to tell you wrong.
For me that had a 2021 version and now a 2023 is the absence of rattling the major difference and also the agility of the bike that is better in 2023 model!
What a GREAT to the point review. Thanks 👍💥💥. As a ‘21 M10 owner this is exactly what I wanted to hear and see in terms of salient reasons to upgrade- or not! 540 wh… hell yes! PS- what was that amazing trail? BC ? Pacific NW?
However, the range extender gives you an extra 250 kWH of power and it sells for less than $1000, so that might be a more economical option than upgrading the whole bike. I have the 2021 Rise with the range extender. I get 610 kWH of power with that combination. It's great.
Great review on your 2023 Orbea Rise! My Rise H10 20MPH - 540Wh was a game changer. Question, my motor are Shimano EP8-RS, can I upgrade the new motor to EP801?
Thats a beautiful bike and i hear they ride incredibly well. Only issue for me is the headset cable routing, i cant look past that but I'm sure others are fine with it.
I assume you were riding an XL? Did it feel just right or a little on the bigger side? I’m 6’1” and ride an XL Tallboy v4 (490 reach) so think an XL Rise would be the way to go. I like my bikes on the bigger side. Will try to parking lot demo L vs. XL to confirm.
you forgot to mention the range extenders, i have 2, one on the bike, the other in my backpack, i went from Nice to Napels, 100km every day unrestricted (85nm) and this with the 1st model :) with this newish one i would have a total of 1044 WH :), but, i will wait some more, i would like to be able to swap out the main battery, and only put the biggest one in when i go on vacation
Fantastic review I’ve never ridden an e-bike - excuse my ignorance, but when you say, are you concerned about range, does that mean if it runs out of battery it’s impossible to pedal manually?
i want to get me this bike through my job... i hope they still got it on sale when my job actually finished the paper work... u forgot one big upgrade... shimano autoshift !!!!!! and the range extender...
I wonder if the rear linkage has been improved. I remember checking the previous Rise on the trail, the owner had it for about a year and you could move the rear wheel sideways in each direction by a centimeter or more.
On the surface, the Rise and the Giant Trance X Adv. Elite seem similarish. (discounting the 85Nm option). How would you describe the ride characteristic differences?
Just bought a new bike the pick was between orbea rise m10 or the new 2023 sl levo comp carbon. I really love the 540 watt battery option on the rise but fuck i just think the rise dosent look good. I choose the SL levo with extender. Just think the sl levo looks so much better
I am the user of this bike and the bike would be perfect but unfortunately the construction of stem/bar and spinlock is defective. One of the elements is made of plastic and is breaking even after minor crash. All the parts used are proprietary and cannot be replaced by common parts and are also unavailable for order causing the bike unrepairable at all.
That part is made out of plastic on purpose to prevent damaging your frame in a crash. Sounds like it worked perfectly. Your LBS should be able to help you get a replacement.
Young healthy people riding ebikes is just sad. What a waste of a young healthy body. Leave the battery at home, you'll have plenty of time to throttle twist when you are 70...
@@BikersEdgeKaysville Yeah, miss out on the challenge and satisfaction of having the strength to pedal up the hill... When you're 60+ you'll long for the days when you could ride up the hill under your own power. (Or maybe you are just a lazy bastard, and won't ever miss it - sad)...
How do you know someone is healthy? Some people look young and healthy but are fighting cancer, a congenital heart issue, or other lifelong illnesses. Some folks have had previous injuries and stuck with pins in their limbs and joints. If they are respectful of the trail and trail riding etiquette... mind your own business, focus on the trail, and save the judgemental attitude for yourself. I'm so sick of needing to deal with loudmouths on the trail who thinks it's ok to give people they don't know shit. Someone riding an eBike near you doesn't greenlight you to become an ass.
