I've been wanting an R1 since 1999 and I finally bought one! This is not a detailed ride review but my first initial impressions of the bike having never sat or ridden a yamaha R1 before. There is some bad that hopefully Yamaha will address in coming years on the R1 but overall this is a peach of a bike and I couldn't be more happy. I almost bought a zx10r or an s1000rr if I couldn't find this bike, but eventually was able to score what I really wanted.
