I've been trying to read all the books I buy within a year of the purchase date. A couple years ago, I moved overseas and couldn't take everything with me, so I made an exception for a couple of books. Angela's Ashes was one of them, and it's been a solid two years now, so that's on my priority list for the spring. I keep putting it off because I know there are going to be sad parts and I just haven't been in the right head space for that. 🤷
That's amazing! 😊 Selling the book definitely is a win-win. You know for sure that the person is happy to have the book and this way it gets used instead of just collecting dust. Enjoy reading the rest of your books!
I had a lot of unread books. And they were getting to be too much. Most of them gifted or just passed on. I’ve made a resolution that they are not allowed to be in the bookcase and forgotten about, they are in a pile on the floor in front of it. I am not allowed to put it back in the bookcase until I have 1) read it and 2) am absolutely certain I’d read it again. Any that I’ve read and don’t want to keep is being put into a shopping bag so I can take it to a charity shop when it’s full. If I absolutely have to read something I don’t own I am looking at my local library or sourcing digitally as a last resort. Got through a quite a lot of them this year.
I love your system!! Im still working my way through my books and have already finished quite a few of them. Still a lot to go but I'll have no mercy with what is left unread beginning of 2024.
In my town we have those public "bookshelves" where you can take books and read them for free and you could also bring your decluttered books there. Do you have anything similar in your town? Or maybe just donating them to a charity shop? I love to think that the books I won't read again will be enjoyed by the next person.
