Bias aside, this is the sled of the year. The 858, if it does well, might win sled of the year next year. If those things happen and Cat wins back to back sled of the year, its huge for them.
Loving what we’re seeing from Cat these days. Cant wait to hear your opinion on the Catalyst with an 858 bolted into it!!! That’s gonna be a sick machine!!!!
Purrrrrfect! I love the Simplicity approach Cat took on this chassis. Tight, strong and light. Clever. Alot of engineering smarts went into it. And the 600 ctech2 is indestructible and plenty powerful. I put over 6000 clicks on my last 600 and it ran like new still. This IS my next ride for sure. Meeeoooooow.
@@CCH-R Nice! I know they are a great mill. I bought an 04 Firecat F6 ext new and it never let me down ever.... and it Ripped! 5500 clicks when I sold it. Cheers!
Sorry AJ, those running boards are comPOSite, which is stronger than COMposite! 😂 Seriously, great vid as always! That’s a sled that I would love to try 👍
I think this will be the trail sled I pick up for the 2024 winter start this year and trade in my old 2011 mxz. It is easily the best looking new sled I think. I like the minimalist of the new chassis and light weight. And the 600 is a great engine I’m confident the 858 will be a beast and reliable. I like the easy access to the battery and the easy remove panels. Man it just looks awesome. Thanks for the great review 🇨🇦🤝
Looking forward to seeing these on the trail and getting real world feedback. Seem to be quite a few for sale around here, probably because of the lack of snow. Would love to own one but I'm a budget sledder so it will be a few years before I have one.
We got lucky and had two units to work with. Both are ZR sleds, just had one cameraman filming action with AJ and another had the model with green shocks filming components.
the 600 is way more responsive on slower trails, like the twisties of central VT, the 600 runs in a happier spot, whereas the big bores feel like they're lugging. Really anything below 50mph is where the 600 shines, and the big bores are at home up in Maine on flat out trails cruising at 80 all day.
I like their new platform but the shock size for me looks like a cost cutting decision and hoping they won’t break or bend. Their sled is not 100 lbs lighter. Time will tell but in the shock world bigger is stronger. Overall it is a very clever design and i hope they have success with it. The 600 class does not get the love they deserve. A 600/650 2 stroke sled is not a slow sled.
Sharp sled! Not sure I’m sold on the composite running boards. Already watched a review on here where a guy broke one side. All for what, to save 15 lbs?
I really think they messed up putting an 600 in it. To me whats the point. I think they should have waited until they could get the 600 and 800 engines in.
That's just because fresh snow covering the trail was causing the sled to push a little in the corners. Good problem considering the amount of snow currently on the trails...
I feel like they gave up on portions of this cat. The tunnel looks like they took it off an old snowmobile and threw a modern seat and running boards on it. Graphics back there also look generic. 4 stroke 2 cylinder turbo would be a great option also for the radar run guys.
Sounds better than any 600 means nothing. Many documented reports of cracked/broken running boards already with my local dealer reporting 3 to me. he sold 8.
