The 2024 BMW X5 LCI has arrived with a handful of improvements for the exterior, interior, and even the powertrain under the hood. Having a strong year in sales, the BMW X5 has outsold the Mercedes Benz GLE and Audi Q7 by a country mile, and it appears that for 2024 nothing is going to change. In this video we're going to take a deep dive into the 2024 BMW X5 xDrive40i to see how it compares to rivals, and to see if it's still the best luxury crossover you can buy today.

@@sharonbojcik9087 I wouldn't be. 10 less miles of electric range. 100's less HP and barely any HP in all electric on the 45e plus no 85 mph highway assistant hands free on the highway. The 50e is better in every way tbh...

I'm 6'4" and the BMW X3 without sunroof has more headroom than the X5. In the X5 I hit my head on the head liner.

That's very odd, because a friend of mine is 6' 8 " and fits comfortably in a X6 which has a lower headroom than the x5.

Hate the giant screen, looks cheaper. Have ‘22 - looks much better. No doubt the output of the engine has been the same for 3 years and they are being more transparent now

@@poea4566 It looks better in person. The screen was a little to small on the 22, now it's in line with the GLE. Plus the tech and HP is way better for 24...My 50E smokes a 45e

Once you option up a base Cayenne to match an X5 it is silly money. A Cayenne S is probably better than a 40i but it’s over $100k with options, which puts you over the M50i and close to an X5M. GTS and turbo are just stupid money.

Actually, having owned both a Macan and an X5(2021) there is quite a size difference both in storage 17 cubic feet vs 33.9 and back seat room . Also, spec out a Macan S similarly equipped cost more than a X5. Macan handled better and is sportier but small back seat and expensive maintenance. Cost me $600 for three year service (oil and brake fluid change). X5 has free maintenance for three years. Comparable vehicle would be Cayanne , much more expensive even in base model!

He’s a good friend of mine and BMW genius for BMW Sudbury that I’ve worked with for over 4 years that helps me get the driving shots and b-roll footage which I think adds so much to my BMW reviews compared to other brands I’ve featured. Here on Oahu, I am (finally) getting possession of my 23 x1 MSport (on Monday) in Cape York Green with Mocha interior and 19s finally, having put my deposit down back on August 30th ! It was sitting on the docks in Belgium after completion on October 31st from November 7th to about the 3rd week In January ! Are you going to do a review of that particular x1 model shortly? I am 5'6" so want to hear your take on it...

To be fair, the changes are minimal and despite those superficial cosmetic changes the X5 overall looks very dated and that steering wheel looks more suitable for the 3 series

I really like the exterior.. but bmw is making awful interiors now with the funky screen and light up trims…I miss simple elegance and luxury, it’s all turning ultra modern and quirky and I just hate it so much

LCI stands for Life Cycle Impulse which is BMW’s term for a mid-cycle refresh. It’s most certainly important as it differentiates pre-facelift models from BMW’s that received cosmetic refreshes for the exterior and interior.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but IMO iDrive 8 is an abomination. WILL NOT buy another BMW until they sort this out. The 8 shortcuts are gone. Climate control buttons are gone. Heated seats and ventilated seats are now have to be turned on / off in software. No one can dispute that having to navigate a software menu to do simple tasks is safer than a switch you can locate and turn on, without looking, by memory. The fact the common sense has been lost around this is totally mind boggling. Kool Aid drinkers will say use voice commands. But the voice commands are slow and half baked, at best. You can easily press a button and have your attention back on the road before the voice command system is even ready to take your command.

Of course they are moving things to software..that way they can have everything be subscription based. You will be paying a monthly fee for the privilege of having heated seats, ventilated seats, massaging seats, heated/cooled cupholders, etc., it's going to be awful!

Agree with this post… it’s unsafe and stupid. A new law should come into pace forbidding all this unnecessary attention deviation into multiple swipes and touches of the screen to perform a simple task… not buying this model…

Couldn't agree more. I was immediately turned away when I noticed that there are absolutely NO HVAC control buttons besides defrost. I don't mind the screen being gone but please leave the physical buttons. Hell, even Mercedes puts the heated/ventilated seat buttons on the doors.

What you state is not an unpopular opinion. It is the truth and I totally subscribe to it. BMW should reverse course if it wants to retain its customers and safeguard its market share.
