The CFMOTO 450MT arrives on Australian shores with a bargain price tag of just $9490 ride away.
Competing with the similarly priced Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, the 450MT is proving to be a big seller for the quickly growing CFMOTO brand.
It is powered by a 449cc parallel-twin motor and features fully adjustable KYB suspension, plus many components designed to improve off-road use.
But how good is the 450MT really? Does it serve its purpose as a rugged and capable dual-sport adventure bike? We headed towards Lake Eildon to see what it’s all about. Ahh, the serenity.

This bike is everyone's dream bike now. The real question is, why didn't Kawasaki make a KLR500 twin cylinder, or Honda make an XL350 twin? Why didn't Suzuki make a DRZ400 twin? Why did Japan insist on giving people horrendously boring "single cylinder" enduros and trail bikes, whilst putting titanium valves, 4 cylinders and 197 horsepower in their flagship streetbikes? People have been wanting something new and different---something that actually sounds good when you revv it up. FINALLY CF Moto did it!

I wish the 450mt was in the USA already. I'm looking at used bikes because the only way for me to afford a bike this good is to build it myself.

@@ryancompton3515 That would be good advice for most people in my position but I'm not willing to wait that long. If I could buy a 450mt right now I would be out riding tomorrow but I would still modify it sooner than later. Everything I own has a swapped engine or suspension. As it stands I'm looking at a used NC750x as a base then parting out a salvage CRF1000 Africa Twin for its suspension and brakes. I'll probably be $8,000 into when I'm done but I'll have 55hp, 70mpg, +9" travel/clearance, 21"/18" wheels, 480lbs but the lowest cog possible, and a very reliable package.

@@Taf68 I didn’t take a camera unfortunately. The bike performed exceptionally well, didn’t even have to change the air filter, the airbox was spotless each time I checked it!

The seat you have in video is a taller option, so seating is at 870 instead of 820 with basic seat.

Hi @rhumorsky4055, some of the units at the launch (which are seen in the video) were fitted with the taller seat, but we personally tested the version with the 820mm seat, which is the standard seat height.

It has to be said that Australia's per capita disposable income is very high. The same car is sold for 4454 USD in China and 9490 USD in Australia. The Australian people did not ask their government, who took the extra 1.x times profit? ?

Its actually 6347 USD in Australia and 9490 AUD ...We don`t use USD in Australia we have our own currency.

Test rode one the other day clutch was not that great and the gears box was not going into gear could be a problem not sure i really like it but it put me off

@@MrKdr500 See our repsonse to fanjan7527. A lot of people will want to know if the standard tyres are decent or not. Not everyone will want to (or can afford to) replace the tyres.

@fanjan7527 unfortunately replacing tyres costs money, and not everyone wants to fork out the extra $$$. And if the standard tyres are good, then why replace them? So, talking about the standard tyres is important!

Not at all mate. Everyone has a different definition of what a "trail" is, but ours (and most in the industry) includes 4WD tracks and firetrails - plenty of which we utilised on our test of the 450MT. We never mentioned single track, which I assume you are talking about. And I think most people understand dual-sport bikes are not designed for single track anyway. Hope that makes things a little clearer for you!
