Can we just talk about how much the Traverse has transformed? This looks absolutely amazing, hands down the best rendition of the divorced headlight/DRL styling that I’ve seen yet! But the rear looks even better than the front end. I don’t know if the interior has improved more or the exterior but I can confidently say I’d be test driving this even if I didn’t need the third row! Chevrolet has been on a serious roll since the reveal of the new Trax! The new Traverse is finally resembling its bigger brother the Tahoe, which is what I’ve personally been waiting for. The technology upgrades are also greatly welcomed with most people feeling that the outgoing interior was starting to feel dated.
@@lockandloadlikehell If you need to see that low in front of your SUV because you feel you’ve missed something you should probably buy a vehicle that’s already on the ground. Look into a Mazda Miata instead?.
@@G-Rated "missed something" like a kid or animal who might be in front of your car? nah, who cares about that? just buy another pointlessly massive vehicle to own the libs.
GM certainly has the looks, packaging and styling down. Reliability of the drivetrain in this application is the remaining big question mark. Probably best to wait a couple of model years.
I find it hard to believe *gm* would replace their tried and true naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 with a underpowered, inefficient, and unreliable turbocharged 4 cylinder and then make it the only motor available in some of their most important models (Traverse/Acadia/Enclave). I could imagine all the work and testing that’s gone into this new 4 cylinder. Even more so because a RWD version of it is now the only powertrain option in their mid-size pickup trucks Colorado/Canyon.
I believe this engine is related to the 2.7L used in Colorado and Silverado, I think they have put a lot of effort and engineering into it and it'll be fairly reliable.
GM did a much better job this time on the Traverse. This vehicle should sell even better especially for larger families. I've owned a Traverse and Enclave and both were great comfortable vehicles and weren't hard to maintain. It will be interesting how the 4 cylinder does in such a large vehicle especially when loaded to its max capacity. GM should have given another choice in powertrains. Ford gives choices in their Explorer as does the Dodge Durango. I'm not a fan of the one motor fits all approach especially for the asking prices of these vehicles.
I don’t know how my transmission is still shifting the way I drive 😂 mine has its own radiator for cooling the oil instead of running it through the coolant radiator. Maybe that has helped lol
A turbo 4cyl isn't new to the GM. Their Terrains and Equinox both used a 1.5l turbo 4 in the outgoing generation, and the Acadia base engine was a 2.0l turbo when it got the 9 speed in 2020.
I gotta ask... I havent been into GM vehicle's for a bit, but all I see is comments saying "can't believe they replaced the tried and true V6 for a 4cyl." Now i know mechanics that have been working for 30 yrs and they would tell me stay away from the Traverse and Acadia with the V6 because at around 60k miles they would have timing chain and guide issues, cam issues, and they were pretty much 60k-70k mile vehicle's and than nothing but trouble.... So now we have a few years of stats of a problematic drive train, and yet people are crapping on this new 4cyl with it not even being out for a month? Why would you still want a problematic engine in a newly redesigned vehicle? And yes, I also personally know two people that have a few years older GM with the V6, and their timing chains started chattering at about 60K.
The new Trax is the template Chevrolet should set for their upcoming vehicles, and It seems the new Traverse is following in the same vein. Right now people want a well designed solid and reliable vehicle from Chevrolet that wont break the bank.
gls and x7 are dinosaurs being manufactured for old ppl with old tastes .. Both MB and BMW are too scared to modernize their exteriors so they don't offend their regular lease customers
We love our 2018 Traverse, waited forever for the new Pilot, but were not impressed so were resigned to driving the wheels off our current Traverse. This new Traverse is really amazing. I hope they improved the reliability of the transmissions, it's the weakness of the 2nd Gen Traverse.
I have a 2013 and the trans had to get replaced. Despite that i might pick up a 2023. To bad the 24+ looks so good but removing the v6 is quite a drag.
They are stockpiling these in Michigan for two months now. Why? Been waiting and dealers are telling me they have no info why and no dates when they will be available.
The designer group of this Chevy really love❤ BMW x5 2023 and 2024 engine and Central controller most same but this is the one i ve been waiting for. Thks
very excited for this version of traverse and also your full review .. I will take lesser MSRP than higher priced vehicle with hybrid playing catch up over 5 years
Man I really wish Chev would get back into making hybrids. This would easily be on a lot of family's shopping lists as top contender if they've stop devoting themselves to EV only. Good new design, choices and pricing, but without some hybrid fuel economy as an option, they're leaving a demographic of shoppers to go elsewhere.
That demographic wouldn’t be opposed to a fully electric vehicle if they’re willing to pay hybrid prices just to end up at the gas pump eventually anyway. The majority rather charge up once and be done for the day until it’s time to charge again for the next day, and that’s still cheaper in fuel costs over the course of ownership than a hybrid which still requires gasoline not to mention the premium you paid upfront to get it. I wouldn’t hate them for building this and a Traverse EV side-by-side.
Thank you for mentioning your height, that's very helpful for getting a spacial understanding of the size of this suv. I'm in the market for a new suv and I've been between this and the pilot. I need to know how this drives, if it's a wallowing mess of body roll and weight I'm definitely going pilot
Rode in a pilot and you cant compare the interior room to a traverse not even the 1st gen. Tbf tho theres really nothing in the market that comes close to the interior room. Not even in gm full size suv offerings.
I love the styling GM is bringing to market. Sleek and rugged. It's a good look. But it doesn't look good when every aspect of your life is being sold to anyone who ask for it. General motors is at the forefront. Leading the charge to digitize you for profit. How much did you get paid for your virtual likeness and image. Zero?
Please stop promoting this as "affordable". There's nothing affordable about a $40,000+ vehicle. Just because it's cheaper than some of the competition, doesn't make this affordable. Very few Americans can financially afford this vehicle.
I have 2 Traverses , 2017 my favorite and a 2021 and love them both , the 2024 look like it would be a winner for me too but the 3rd row passengers window view looks limited !
Might pick up a 2023. I currently have a 2013. Sucks this new one looks so damm good but gm put a turbo 4. This just sounds like its going to be a disaster for the first 4yrs.
This thing is very close to a minivan. If they can make the 3rd row fold back rather than fold forward, it will be even closer. I really wish they can make the 3rd row minivan-like, which will make it more practical for a family ride.
between this and the Acadia, it is hard to choose! I love the exterior of the traverse but i love the interior of the acadia (and the infotainment!). GM if you are reading this, please send me one for free
Personally I don’t care for the Grand Highlanders design. I know Toyota has a better resale and reliability history but I can’t find one I like. It doesn’t matter if it gets 100mpg, if it doesn’t move me I’m passing. This on the other hand is sexy and sporty to my eye. We’re looking to make a purchase in the next few months. This will join my test drive list.
SUV, CUC, etc is all a matte4 of marketing to be honest. As far as the size, it’s bigger than a Chevy Tahoe used to be a few years ago. You can call it either mid sized or full sized depending on your perspective and the comparison. It’s much larger than the Highlander or Sorento.
Will they bother working with the IIHS to earn a Top Safety Pick+ award for their new family hauler, or will GM keep pretending people don't care about safe transportation for their families?
@@davewilson7602 100% that’s what I’m implying. Do you work for this agency or something ? every time the vehicles start acing all of the other tests they come up with a test no one can pass in a crash that almost never happens. It’s enough already. Cars that were top safety pics are all of a sudden “unsafe” because they can’t pass a test made up by someone to keep the agency relevant.
I've been eyeing this for a while it definitely is a whole different look but I'm going to keep my Naturally Aspirated V-SIX 2018 Redline Edition Traverse top of the line Premier Trim!! I'm averaging 28 mpg & we love the off road-Tow-4x4 control that we could switch on the Fly. It's the quietest vehicle I have ever driven!
i hope that turbo 4 can hold up over time ...the sound of the 4 banger and the size just dont match, but these are different times ... not bad looks wise tho 👌
Honestly I’m glad they replaced the 3.6, that engine was awful. It was an unreliable pile of junk in a good portion of the vehicles they put it in. This seems like a good alternative, and with all the other changes (especially that screen and the implementation of two screen Apple CarPlay) it’s genuinely on my short list of vehicles for when I buy in a year. I quite like it.
@@AAutoBuyersGuide but like no reasons why it was placed? Makes me nervous to buy one. What was the problem, ya know? But hey, you’re the first with actual info so I’m thrilled to hear it! Thank you guys!!!
