I picked up a 2024 Jetta Comfortline auto here in Toronto 1.5 weeks ago. Total wait time was 1.5 months and I paid cash at MSRP + $500 dealer fee. I really like the value, features and the styling. The engine is much quieter than my dads 2018 Camry 4 cylinder. The 2023 Jetta's didn't come with blind spot or rear cross traffic alert, so I waited specifically for the 2024 and it does in fact have them.
@@codyeakin1187 If buying cash, there's no interest. There wasn't anything extra other than $500 dealer fee which the online configurator also shows. Whatever the online configurator shows is what I paid. I'm happy with the purchase
My sister bought a new 23 Jetta Sport MT for $23k. I cannot think of a car with more value for the money. The Jetta is also getting 50 mpg on the hwy with little ease. At the time, used Civics and Corollas were going for a couple thousand less, but had 40k+ miles and no warranty.
You have a great eye for style, balancing the white Jetta with the black Trax in your opening and closing segments. I picked up a 2022 Jetta last year, great fuel economy almost hybrid like and solid build quality. VW always feel more substantial and heavy duty compared to domestics especially in 5 years time. More evolutionary rather than revolutionary thinking makes for a car that ages much better.
Reliability and Subaru do not go together. My mom had one, and that thing cost more in repairs in the first five years than her past three vehicles combined
Happy with my 23 Jetta Sport. No deletes or markups. Had a discount through work. I find that it rides really smooth and is great on 87 tune gas. Not something I could say about the Elantra Sport that it replaced, but had to sell that because Kia Boyz.
Excellent topic in a time when the average purchase price for a vehicle is over $40k. I like the offer of a CUV or sedan, I think a hatchback option would have covered a broad spectrum
Too bad we can't get the Jetta sports wagon with a manual transmission. Heck, it would be so nice if we could get some of the reliable, affordable & fun sport wagons here that are available overseas. ...and an engine that will grenade itself right after the warranty expires. I've owned several Kias, they hit their peak a decade ago it terms of reliability. Way too many engine problems the last several years, especially their turbo and direct-injected engines.

Gotta be Jetta for me. My general apathy for suvs and appreciation of an available manual makes me like it. Plus, every other ad on RU-vid is for the Trax with that stupid song and it’s irritating.
The 1.2L engine in the Trax actually debuted in 2020 with the Buick Encore GX, a year before the Trailblazer. While the fuel economy numbers are not great in the Trax, I wonder how much the 6-speed auto is hamstringing those numbers. I also wonder how much more it would cost GM to put the CVT from the Trailblazer/Encore GX FWD models in the Trax ,which would actually liven up the engine. They're only using the 6A since it's been around for ages, thus cheaper to make, helping keep the price down.
CVTs are much cheaper to produce. They went with the 6-speed because everyone hates CVTs so damn much. I'm one of them. I also don't know what planet you're on if you think a CVT is going to "liven up" any car. If you enjoy listening to a constant drone from your engine with sluggish rubber-band acceleration, then a CVT is for you.
@@nodak81 I drive an encore gx with the cvt and the 1.3l engine. I don’t notice any droning and have no issues with acceleration or passing. It’s not a jatco cvt.
I have a Trax 2RS i love it the taste full mods in side and out make this a great car now. (There is no perfect car) during shopping for a car do your home work and love the car that you bought if you think this is wrong and that is wrong it will be.
Not 5 hours ago I saw a Jetta and a Malibu trying to carve up a packed and slowed highway like they're Nissans. Then a G37 decided to cut me and a bunch of people off then go half speed without signalling, and all was right in the world again.
The trax does not look more premium than the Jetta. Whenever I see the Jetta I think I’m looking at an entry level Audi while the trax looks like a weird ugly Nissan copy 🤣 Chevy interiors are awful too… super cheap crap. Idk what it is but Chevy can’t figure out how to make the plastics look descent. I’d get the VW if it was between the two.
I don’t think it’s more premium, I think its height and design looks like it would cost more but it’s all an opinion anyway. I’d personally go Jetta Sport MT too!
I agree since they already have the trailblazer but I can see why Chevy would rather have an suv-ish thing go against cars like the corolla, civic, jetta and elantra, which it still undercuts. It’s what makes it stand out, even though I’d rather see a sedan.
I don't really want either of them. I hate turbo engines. They're always just a breath away from grenading themselves. Give me a boring, reliable naturally-aspirated engine any day. The only good thing these two have going for them is neither has a CVT. The Subaru has the opposite problem, awful CVT with an n/a engine.
I own a black activ, it has blind spot indicators on the outside mirrors. Every vehicle on the road has blind spots. To me the trax is no worse than any other vehicle. Have you drove a Chevy Trax? They're very hard to find to buy, let alone test drive one. Took me almost 6 and 1/2 months to get mine from the day I ordered it. Took delivery 3 weeks ago, state of Michigan, the dealer at that time had no Chevy Trax on his car lot.
My last three GM cars have had a combined 1 million miles, all original engines and transmissions. Current is at 210k miles, never has had an engine light
Usually after you own 1 VW, you won’t own another one. The Chevy Trax isn’t a good vehicle either. I see that both of them have the same standard gloomy, depressing, drab, boring, outdated Gray, or black interior colors that became popular during the last millennium. 34 years of those colors being shoved down everyone’s throats. As a retired psychologist, it’s a proven fact that when there’s civil unrest, wars and rumors of wars, shaky economies people will flock to drab, depressing colors in not only their choices of colors in their homes but especially their automobiles. Likewise, when the world in general is at peace, our economies are stable, civil rest people run to brighter more cheerful colors. This tells me that everyone decides what interior colors are to be standard in all vehicles are depressed, have a gloomy outlook on life, are subconsciously afraid of impending doom or death. 51% of people today prefer darker shades of Grey or x black interior colors in their vehicles, homes, clothing, etc. It’s sad to see the world in such a place.
