2024 Chevy Trax: I Go Hands-On with the Least AND Most Expensive Versions of Chevy's Popular SUV! 

I just got the LT model . I love it it has alot of great features like heated seats, steering wheel and heated mirrors. My son and husband are about 6’ and can sit in the vehicle comfortably. I also love how smooth the vehicle rides on the road.

I am typically not a GM fan, but I really give Chevy credit for a nice looking small SUV at this price point. Great review.

I got the RS this weekend and it’s really a sweet affordable ride. I’m pretty happy with it. This is the best for the price point.

I saw one of these around town, I kind of like their look, they almost have a wagon look with how low and streched they are.

Never had a GM car before, and this one will be the first one I will consider.

Funny thing 2 weeks i went to the NY auto show and no one noticed this new Trax on display😄. People was obviously looking at the Chevy Trucks and Corvette that’s it.

This vehicle would be real steal with hybrid and not mediocre fuel mileage in its segment.

I'm 68 and have never owned a Chevy...I've been a Mopar/Pontiac guy, but I'll seriously consider this Trax Active model, alongside Mazda CX50 and Hyndai Tucson.

It's baffles me that people are still asking for more power, but don't account for the fact that if you have a bigger engine, then the price jumps. Hence, affordable price.

The point of this car is affordability, so the base model LS is the one I'd get. If I spent 25K on a Trax, I'd much rather drop an extra 6K for a 2025 AWD Camry or an Accord.

The activ is higher end than the rs

The Trax and the blazer are not SUVs. The blazer was at one point but the new one is just a hatchback car.

It be great with a bigger motor as with the great looking Buick built on the same platform.

Base model for me. More sidewall. Sidewall sidewall sidewall is good in the real world of potholes and old pavement. Analog gauges. There's nothing worse than trying to read fading leds. Knobs for heat. No need to go through sub menus while driving to turn on heat on a cold Canadian morning. What about the roof? I never liked sun roofs, and I loathe moon roofs. Just give me it in the red of the other car.

The vehicle is nice and everything but, I'm trying to figure out why the tail lights look like a mixture of the Nissan Maxima & pathfinder?

The young guy looks like Tom Cruise in Risky Business.

Im going to say it again for Cadillac and GM. Cadillac is basically a luxury tuner of Chevy makes. There should be no way in hell that every damn Chevy SUV apes a Cadillac in the front end, rear and instrument cluster design. The only difference is that the Caddys have the light up grille on the Lyriq. Cadillac is a shell company now, and GM is so blatant as if any real car nuts wouldnt see the uncanny similarities. Even Caddy cant even tech their cars and SUVs out to the tune of Benz, BMW, Range Rover and the like because theyre so tied to a Chevy profile and essentially cannibalizing Caddy sales.

Those look awefully similar / same as the "newly" re-designed Kia Sportage. Spec wise, it looks like the Chevy comes with less features than the Kia Sportage.

I give Chevy credit for bringing out affordable vehicles. If you want AWD, there’s the Trailblazer, just a bit more costly

It's ridiculous that Andre had to check an option package to get cruise on a 41K Colorado, but it's standard on a 21K vehicle. Talk about auto manufacturers nickel and dime buyers.

2RS, and loaded it's just below 27,000.00. A lot of vehicle for the price. I drove one and you will be surprised with the power of the I-3 turbo.

So they made it wider, longer, and shorter. Wagons are back, baby!

The new Trax makes the previous model look like a tin can. I read that GM actually started to ship the new Trax in from South Kora before they announced the 2024 Trax. Dealers are already receiving them to sell and their selling as soon as they hit the dealers lot. I think GM has a winner on it's hands. The new Trax looks great and is very affordable. Cheers!!!

They just started getting these at the local dealership. And I didn’t even know what it was at first lol! It’s just a 1000% better looking than the old one!

The Chevy Trax is not made in the U.S, its made entirely in South Korea and shipped to North America

It would be cool if Chevy put the high output 4-cylinder in it and called it an “SS.” I think they would actually sell a fair amount, because the packaging is quite good for the price.

I'd get the Activ because it's the only trim you can get the power seat with. I'm an inch taller than Andre and I need to be able to tilt the front of the seat up to get better thigh support and slightly more legroom.

I like the Active better. Like the wheels more than the RS.

"SUV" is because "hatchback" is somehow a dirty word. But hatchback is exactly what they are.

Personally, I prefer the analog gauges in the base model vs the digital screen in the upper trims. If there was an option to get allow rims and push button in the base that’s what I’d buy. I don’t care about the other stuff like automatic climate control screens. I can do manual. Also, option to not have gloss black on the gear shift and bottom of the steering wheel.

The 1RS trim in Nitro Yellow would be my choice, with the optional sunroof and switchblade key(seriously!)

this is looking very similar to the Chevy Montana platform that is only offered in Mexico and South America. The newest Montana is ALSO only offered in a FWD drivetrain with the 3 cyl turbo. I'd love to see a compact pick up from Chevy in the U.S to compete with the Ford Maverick!

My only complain.... 3 cylinders turbo with small displacement. Other than that everything is ok, but no replacement for displacement

A basic, decent aluminum rim is not that expensive. They should just put them on the base model and add $600 to the price. The appearance over the hubcaps would be so much nicer. I am sure they are an option but just start the base model with a real wheel since the hubcaps stand out and detract from the overall look of the car.

Is it odd that the red car has yellow interior accents and the yellow car has red interior accents?

This seems nicer than the Ford Edge, design is like... wow, American designers finally woke up.

FWD that will loose traction on ice or wet roads. It get worse gas millage that the trax 1.4. I get 37 to 39 mpg on flat surfaces when fully loaded. I get 40 to 50 mpg when its just me driving on flat surfaces. Its longer so fat asses can fit in the back when its only rated for 200lbs for all for seats. So it can't really haul 4 fat asses. 😂

As of June 2024, the Chevrolet Trax is manufactured in South Korea at a General Motors (GM) plant. The 2024 model is built on GM's global platform and features Chevrolet's modern design and technology. It's also about 4 inches lower, 2 inches wider, and 11 inches longer than the 2022 version.

WARNING: Anyone considering purchasing a Chevy Trax or its Buick counterparts with the 1.2 liter turbo engine please first read and watch videos about this engine. It has been in use in Europe for several years by car companies like France, Peugeot. The engines use what is known as a " wet timing belt " meaning the belt is inside the engine block exposed to oil. Supposedly the belts are supposed to last 150,000 miles before needing to be changed. However, these belts are failing at 50,000 miles or less and because the belt is inside the engine block rubber peeling off the belt clogs up the oil galleries and oil sump screen causing catastrophic failure. To change the belt the head must be removed, and special tools are needed to lock the crank in place. Because it is labor intensive it is very expensive to change the timing belt and if rubber shavings are clogging your oil galleries you are screwed, but if they have not the oil pan must still be removed to clean the oil sump screen of rubber particles and if not removed the engine will only run in limp mode because of oil starvation. I think the Trax is nicely styled and initially seems affordable, but the after-care cost will break your wallet. Type in search on RU-vid, Peugeot 1.2 engine wet timing belt and you will see the nightmare these engines are.

Curios. If its bigger than the Trailblazer, why didnt they put the 1.3 turbo instead!? 155hp makes more sense than the 137hp of the 1.2.

Love the stying of the Trax. I was looking at the Trax RS for my mother, but since we live in Buffalo, we need AWD, and sadly the Trax only comes in FWD.

Why does every GM vehicle seem to check all the boxes, but upon closer inspection have some fatal flaw that disqualifies it from purchase?

I see a lot of similarity between the new Trax and the existing as well as upcoming redesigned Hyundai Kona.

The basic one is the one I really like it!

I love the three trims side-by-side . . . - The key is what you paid for at the bottom tier, but those cloth seats look great, the accents make it look nice and that 8in Chevy screen seems solid in all of the GMs I have seen it in. - The Activ is solid, dual screens, a bitty moon roof and the seats are a nice step up. - That colour, different shades of yellow-gold, has suddenly become very popular . . . I first saw something like it in the preproduction Seltos, and most lately with Toyota and Andre's Colorado . . . and I like it! - Hmmmm I go with the Activ in Nitro-Yellow . . . . . . but in the Mountain West, I really do need AWD. Sad.

2RS is the trim I'd pick

Looks good but, cheap plastic caps on the base . Come-on.. Also you did not mention that none of these have a rear arm rest ! Too much cost cutting by GM.

lowest priced vehicle at the dealership, the base model without any upgrades, msrp 21.5k. after dealer fee and taxes and other fees, this is around 25/26k. This still baffles be for the cheapest car you can buy. And a additional 15k for the 1 inch bigger wheel and some pinstriping in the interior, analog gauge to a lcd....but no performance upgrade in the motor.

I'd stick with the base model. I prefer analog gauges any day over a crappy screen that costs thousands to replace. From what I see in the video, the base model appears to have tires with a taller sidewall, which means a smoother ride.

This car might have WET BELT engine technology. If so you might not want it. I wouldn't want the turbo. But I definitely WOULD NOT want a wet belt engine. Not just Chevy stupid. Ford Fiesta also gets one.

the household all shares one car (a chevrolet cruze) and we're all thinking about the idea of looking into a 2024 trax, the cruze has recently passed 173k miles after 5 years of ownership and its beginning to reach the time of either trade it in now or keep it till it explodes.

Chevy continues its long legacy of releasing absolute shit boxes.
