Thanks for the help sir. I've done a lot of research, and listened to quite a few owner reviews of this little SUV. I'll be ordering a new Trax for a special young lady in my life when she turns 16 next year. It will make a great vehicle for her as she continues high school, and college. I showed her the car, and she fell in love. She loves the Cacti Green. I told her if thats the color she wants it will cost more money for the higher trim level, so she needs to save money to help me pay for the car. Gives her some skin in the game, and hopefully helps her appreciate the vehicle more. I certainly don't want her to think that Grandpa will buy her everything she wants, and it won't cost her a dime.
The Trax will be an extremely popular starter car due to the low cost & lots of safety equipment. Definitely agree with her pitching in to pay for it, so she appreciates it & takes better care. Definitely Nicer than my 1st car:)
@@acutaboveww hmmm, I do city driving ( lots of stop & go) & I’ve never truly looked…but it’s maybe 25-30? I’m older & don’t drive much anymore which is why, for me, it’s all fine. I don’t need all the bells & whistles ( mph gauge isn’t even digital) What I guess I’m saying…if you’re young &/or have kids etc & drive a lot…maybe not your best buy..for me though..it gets me from A to B & back & reliable
No. They aren't. Chevy TRASH IS NOT WORTH IT how in the world is a 1.5 litter paired with a turbo supposed to be great? the engine wouldn't last 30k miles till the engine blows..
I got the Cheyanne Orange Metalic. Active Model. I have put 3500 miles on it and it has average 32 MPG. It has gotten as High as almost 42 MPG. Like it very happy with is so far.
AWD is not even an option. You have to move up to the Trailblazer to get AWD, but you also get a more powerful version of the turbo 3 cylinder engine....
Not concerned about the 1.2L 3 Cylinder Turbo cause it don't have an heavy foot, change your oil/filter as stated in your Owners manual and you good. The Wet timing belt is lame from GM, should have used an timing chain which is more durable..........
Yes, they still don't stick around long, but due to Feb being 1 of the slower months, you should be able to pick up one without much Markup. Watch my Jan/Feb Best months to buy video.
For the price many features are awesome. The wet timing belts in these motors are a tremendous red flag. 🚩. The main advantage is quiet operation, but the downsides are huge and the replacement is a nightmare. These engines have two timing belts, one for the oil pump to crank, the other obviously for valvetrain, etc. Please take a very expensive repair into consideration before the 150k. The wet belts don’t last very long. I like them, they are a money maker for sure. But as a consumer, heck no.
Appreciate your attention to detail! With 2 teen drivers I've been looking at getting rid of my Mercedes CLA 250 because of the high insurance costs, and had an "aha" moment comparing insurance premiums - there's no such thing as "just a fender bender" anymore with 360 cameras/lane changing assist/etc. features built into the fenders. Given your experience with the variety of trim levels, if you could share which features impact premiums the most, that would be super helpful. Insurance is such a major cost of ownership...
I would say Blind spot monitoring & forward collision alert could help with insurance rates but any of the Trax trims should be much cheaper to insure than a Mercedes. Let us know what you find out.
@@lllsquatlll1406 cause I had many chevys and they were trash and if u actively go thru the comments the gremlins appear , it’s not worth it over the Japanese brands
You can't specifically limit renters to out of town But you can Target them by catering to airport renters. Turo verifies licenses & driving record But this does Not guarantee perfect renters. IF you remove Instant booking (you have to approve every booking) & 1 day renters this eliminates Most of the worst clientele. Hope this helps!
Question: Does this vehicle have auto/start/stop that you can disengage? And does it have the headlights that you need to drop the bumper to change? Also, do you have that stupid message that the shifter is not in park? Lastly, does it have the temperature control dials like the Blazer and the same Infotainment center as the Blazer?
Yes, it has auto stop/start that you can disengage. Not sure on the headlights. I have not seen any messages about having to do with shifters or park. Temp controls depend on which trim. Top 3 trims yes. Infotainment depends on the Blazer year.
Thanks for the info - being a Chevy person going back to the Corvair, I was hoping they would come up with something like this. Is there any history on the engine? Mini has a 3 cylinder turbo and I was surprised (not buying anything in 10 years) how many cars have 3 cyl turbos now. Of course the price is not great if the dealers are adding 1.5K to 2K in markups......
Many dealers will reduce Or eliminate Market adjustments for Jan & Feb because it is their slowest months. Great time to grab 1. Watch my video on these 2 months being the best time to buy before tax season. Market adjustments will come back for tax return season.
Very well done video. The car really looks nice with a nice price but that teenie weenie 1.2 really has me concerned with long term reliability. A mechanic told me once you are closing in on 100,000 miles you probably will want to dump it. I guess time will tell.
Great video! Do you think if I wait till the end of December, I can get a better deal on a 2024 Trax? I would prefer to pay 2k under MSRP and I'm paying with cash. Or should I become a Chevy salesman first so I can avail of the employee discount?
Ha, I like your persistence to find a discount, however I strongly believe you will find no discounts on these for at least 18 months. Buy 1 now if you can get at MSRP. You are more likely to see Dealer markups than discounts. Then Chevy will raise the price slightly for 2025. Look at the 2022-2023-2024 Ford Mavericks as an example. Low cost new cars are too limited by manufacturers right now.
Any new body style of a vehicle will never sell for under sticker. If you wait until the end of the body style, then you might find some deals, but anticipate paying $2k OVER sticker right now. Let us know if you do get any employee discounts on these though, but since they sell so fast, I'm unsure if a dealer would go any less than sticker for a new hire. Hope this helps.
I was looking between the Chevy Trax 2RS and the Kia Seltos SX. Kia/Hyundai doesn’t even let you have wireless CarPlay in their top trims, only their lower trims, because they want you to use their stupid proprietary navigation system 🥴
It doesn’t have anything to do with their built in navigation, it’s some weird licensing as well as chip limitations they can’t seem to get around on the bigger displays.
A pretty knowledgeable salesperson at Kia said they changed from Android to Linux on the bigger screen and that's why apple carplay/android auto don't work on that display. I haven't found anything online to support that statement and while the explanation sounds plausible, it's way above my skill set.
I could see why that is confusing. 7 years ago I listed my vehicle on Turo to suplement my income. I purchased these 3 for a small rental fleet as a side hustle. 70% of my videos discuss the Safest way to use Turo as a side hustle, but I also do Car reviews when I find great value vehicles.
Great video. Can you help me understand why some of the Interior has colored accents? When I went to my local dealership I couldn't find consistency as to why some had read some head blew some head yellow and some add none
i think what would have sealed the deal if the Activ had ventilated seats and 360 camera. Not everyone lives in the snow so it would be great to not only have heated seats.
I agree, I would prefer ventilated over heated. 360 cameras are nice, but really not needed as much on this size of a vehicle & I'm sure cost was a consideration.
Would be nice, but auto makes have basically decides as a while not to sell vehicles they don't make money on anymore hence Ford & Chevy quitting selling cars.
Any trim you can get for MSRP. I have two 1RS's (great look & value) & 1 Active (luxury interior & leatherette easy to clean) 1 more Active on order. Those are my 2 favorite trims for Turo.
Thank you from Cornwall, Ontario, Canada......Very informative video! Looking at trading my Nissan Kicks for one of these. I find it odd that the LT does not have the heated package but on a positive it's good I found your video so I can bring that factor into my negotiation. Cheers!
I have a Cayenne orange LT that has heated seats and steering wheel and adaptive cruise control, I think it has the comfort package, or whatever they call it.
Test drove 2rs. Don't like having no rear armrest and door panels and dash covered in hard plastic, also don't care for cheap torsion bar in rear. That is major handling issue. Also detected some hesitation on acceleration. Would go with corolla LE or SE for for reliability and resale value.
I don't disagree with your assessment. Trax gives you more tech, options, & style for the price. It's weakness is some clear cost savings on ride quality & potential longterm reliability. With toyotas finally starting to be more available without markups, it could be worth paying up as you know what you are getting. New Trax will hold value well for the next 2-3 yrs. Toyota better after that.
I heard the Traxes sister vehicle, the Buick Envista fixes the torsión bar issue & adds a power liftgate (not sure on a rear armrest) Video on Trax Vs Envista coming soon...
Gotta ask, How are these going to hold up any differently than the previous gen? Working in an autoparts store, I see alot of request for brakes, shift linkages (really not the only model with that issue) ignition parts (key lock cylinders mostly)...and those are the ones i can remember. I get that all cars require maintenance. But it seems for every query for a ford part, I get 2 or 3 queries for chevy parts. (dont get me started on nissan and kia, I dont know how their cars pass QA) I do gotta add that im not some ford fanboy. I just dont think this era belongs to chevy. Every decade or so the coin tosses and changes are made. The 80s belonged to chevy, ford seems to be the face of the 90s, then back again in the 00s with chevy ( i have a soft spot for the 1500s), but the 10s tho..have been weird. Ford absolutely shit the bed with their powershifts (All my coworkers call them power-shits) And their v6 eco boosts are ageing....poorly to say the least.
Hey Zero... I'm on the fence pertaining to buying a 2016 jeep grand Cherokee limited with only 41k miles and it was a one owner car from my home town. Man I'm torn in a bad way from the stories I've heard (on line). Some ppl act like they're great vehicles, others would rather take a beebee to their big toe every day the rest of their life. Ha! Just curious in your opinion. Hope ya got life in a headlock man. Be well.
Tbh They are ok to lease out, but to own? All I been hearing lately is lots of regrets. The 6 cylinder is...anemic at best (I mean the engine has good power for a sedan, not for a big SUV with the drag coefficiency of a brick. At my last job we had a guy order an engine when his threw a rod a 110k. @@arai4176 Im assuming thats what in the GC and not a boosted 4 cylinder. If that's the case. Run, and dont look back. (Comments are showing up kinda funky for me)
None of the Trax trims have a power tailgate. If you want this option, consider the Trax sister vehicle the Buick Envista. Video coming soon to compare the 2.
It's an option for all models but it becomes standard on the LT and up. My Dad's LS has remote start, heated seats and steering wheel, and the now unavailable weatherproof floor liners from GM.
I have the LT. It is keyless entry, and has the buttons on the doors.I also payed a little bit more for the heated seat and heated steering wheel package. Best decision ever. Having a warm seat and not have to grip an ice cold steering wheel on a cold winter morning is great.
