Let's take a look at the 2024 Chevy Trax and 2024 Buick Envista!
Powertrain:
1.2L Turbocharged 3-cylinder
136HP and 162 lb-ft of torque
FWD only / 6-Speed automatic gearbox
0-60 MPH in 9.3 seconds
0-50MPH in 6.7 seconds
28 mpg city and 32 mpg city
The 2024 Envista is 4 inches longer than the 2024 Trax, and measures in at 182.6 inches as compared to the Trax's 178.6 inches. All of this is in the overhangs as the two share a platform and identical wheelbase; The Trax has an 1 inch less of front overhang, as well as 2.9 inches less rear overhang.
Inside, the Envista does a nice job of differentiating the colors and textures of its plastics, while the Trax is more uniform and dare I say sporty in it's appearance.
The different suspension bushing rates are what really differentiates the driving feeling on the Buick Envista as it's equipped with softer bushings than the Trax. The Buick Envista Avenir and optional on the ST offers a Watts Link rear suspension setup, whereas the Chevy Trax does not. This aids in easing side to side movements in the rear suspension torsion beam.

I like the Envista, I wish they had these in AWD, but I guess that's how they can keep the price down so I also appreciate that

I hear that, but Envista is so gorgeous and good on gas. You just may be confused for having a Lamborghini Urus! I love the tech and driving aids on this car. I looked at the Blazer first but I really just need a car to grocery shop, to pick up kids and general run about town car so I couldn't justify needing a car with what is usually a 3K-5K jump in price for AWD. I remember when most cars didn't even have all wheel drive and front wheel drive was much more preferable especially in areas that get snow. Any front wheel drive only vehicle I've ever had did just fine for us and in Michigan we can get some fairly heavy snows which front wheel does great in especially if you throw a couple of heavy sand bags in the back for even more traction in snow. This car is perfect if you have teens just getting on the road, not dangerously fast but looks great and has safety tech on it for a parents piece of mind.

Just to add my 2 cents. I bought a tracks. And I like to say is you have to drive it. It's solid. I like it so far so good, but I only had about a month or 2. Just saying folks.

With GMs stellar reliability and high quality interiors I'm sure this will be a huge hit.

I think I'm going to go Envista, but I'm going to wait for the mid-cycle refresh. By then they'll have worked the bugs out, and for the refresh I bet it'll get bigger screens with less bezel.

I really like the Envista, good size, great price, stylish and seems comfortable. I don't care about AWD, but I wish it had a more conventional engine, preferably with hybrid assist. In recent times GM does not have a good record with small displacement turbocharged engines. I'd really like to see a small engine that compares to the 3800 V-6 of yore: smooth, quiet, reliable and long lasting, with an excellent balance between power and fuel economy.

It's all about maintainance, this is coming from a friend who is a master mechanic. He has replaced many neglected motors of all different sizes. Don't just buy, get in and drive. Also actually open the hood and look over the motor before you buy the car and also once in a while. Check the fluids, keep an eye on the guages. If you follow the suggested schedule any car will do it's best. For all the rest that can happen the warranty can pick up the slack.

It's too bad they brought these here on the cheap and we don't get the rest of their market's AWD version.☹

The international version does not have AWD either. But they do get the 1.5 liter inline 4cylinder with a CVT transmission. the US and Canada gets the 1.2liter Turbo with a 6-Speed transmission. If you want AWD. There's the Chevy Trailblazer and the Buick Encore.

You don't need AWD in everything.

Get real. The AWD hype for the general American driving population is 10-15 years old now. Prior to that, most people did not have it and did not need it. People in the snow belts in the country did just fine with FWD. Driver skill coupled with modern safety features will do the trick. AWD is NOT meant to be a safety feature.
