2024 Eclipse: Kaufman County issues disaster declaration 

If they were smart they would have found a field to designate as an official viewing area and charged people for parking.

They act like this is the only place in the USA where this is happening.

Oddly, I lived in Tennessee when the last one went directly over us. EVERYONE with cow pastures or hay fields rented porta potties, flagged off parking and mand a killing charging people to camp overnight and just park. It's an opportunity to make some cash!

The best location for viewing the eclipse in the US will be Brackettville, Texas. The longest totality will be in Mexico.

I went to south central Kentucky for the August 2017 eclipse. I had rented a spot for $50 at a moonshine distillery, and the location was one where the eclipse lasted 2 min. 40 sec. There wasn't any kind of issue with the crowds of people. The only issue was the very long drive home. Everyone hit the roads as soon as the total eclipse was over. My employer even let me off for the day to go. So stop all this fear mongering and alerts. Go to it, but just realize it will be a very long drive home depending how far you have to drive.
