The IEC has released a statement clarifying the update of the elections dashboard.
This amid circulating reports that the IEC had released different results of the elections.
The Electoral Act prescribes that for the calculation of compensatory seats both national compensatory ballots and regional ballots are taken into account.
It has also dismissed reports that the NFP has no seat in the KZN legislature.

The ONLY question that matters now involves the TIMING of this announcement or correction: why did the IEC only make this adjustment AFTER Zuma accused IEC of being short by 9 million votes? Why now after Zuma spoke, why did IEC not make this adjustment last week? Seems very strange, a very strange coincidence.

IEC needs to put an explainer on their website as to exactly how seats are calculated. For example , in KZN , there are 80 seats , which should mean that you need 1.25% to get one seat. Yet due to some fractioning rule , the NFP with just 0.56% of the vote (and less than 20 000 votes) gets a seat and becomes a kingmaker of sorts.

What is even more interesting is that the NFP contested elections in only 3 provinces: KZN - 19548 Gauteng - 1248 Mpumalanga - 443 Making a total of 21239 that were received in all provinces and yet they received 42143 votes nationally.

I just visited the IEC website. The numbers do not make any sense. Adding the votes from each party surpasses the total voters registered/eligible to vote not to mention the total votes cast. In addition, why add (N+R)? It does not make sense. Maybe if they added (N+P). Isn't regional (R) has to do with the municipality you voted under i.e. VD. We need IEC to come and explain all these discrepancies on these numbers. As it stands, nothing makes sense.
