Aahhh...it drives me crazy when people call the front bumper air kick-outs on the FL5 "fake vents". They're not fake vents. Those are aerodynamic air-kickouts that smooth the air going around the bumper and across the wheel well where the wheel and tire are. They need to create a laminal flow there, both for stability, but also so the air that's directed in through the front air dams, can flow across to cool the brakes, then be blown out the side vents. This also lowers the air pressure in the wheel well for less lift. It all works in tandem, as a system.
While I know you’re correct in their purpose, the problem is the way they are stylized. They have a mesh appearance which gives them a vent look. This is why everyone calls them fake vents.
@@kprofitt32you can call them whatever you want, it didn’t change the facts tho. I kinda get what you’re saying tho, sometimes it feels like lil subtle jabs fk8 owners throw at the fl5.
I thought this was a fake channel that reuploaded another channels video because of how good the video is and how low the subscribers and views are. You deserve way more recognition!!
@@Sleepygarage Thanks! Why do these cars get so much hate from people who are seemingly non-owners? I get that $45k is a lot for a Civic, but it seems to have all the right parts to make it a very enjoyable car and, FWIW, the FWD Ring King. I don't think this car is intended to compete with a C8 or even a Supra, so taking it for what it is I think it is a great piece of engineering.
Great review, as usual. Personally I’m a bigger fan of the more understated looks and comforts of this car’s Integra counterpart, but I’m glad it exists (within the north American market).
To be replaced with what? Up here in the Pacific Northwest there's way too much fog to get rid of them. I'm assuming they'll start designing headlight to supplement for them?@@nickwong2525
I think when I first saw it, I found it really looks like a Euro R Accord to me. Looks really nice, as a Civic and it is very very comfy and fun to drive. 265mm wide tires definitely help this CTR can run as much as the driver want. Can you turn off the traction control button when you feel the road is safe, I can guarantee you feel like it is a beast released from a cage, so fun, yeah it is more unpredictable but this is how Honda made a FWD and never want it to be AWD, Good luck 👍👍👍
Now this is the review I have been waiting, Best 4 banger money can buy. On the road and on the track. Nothing in competition can beat the beauty and drivetrain of these cars. My only wish they made the NEW CTR little more aggressive like the last GEN. Another reason why I went ITS route, now that car looks aggressive and better ride. Also it beats the new CTR 0 to 60.
I totally would buy one but no stock and even if u find one it's marked up way to much.why don't they make more. Had to settle for a 23 si starts at 37k canadian...nice but under powered
Even with a HUD it definitely would not compete in the luxury segment. No car that lacks power seats, heated seats, and a heated steering wheel could be included in that category. The Type R is what it is, and proudly, defiantly so: a track-focused sports hatch; a (relatively) cheap, four-door, front-drive version of a GT3.
To me it’s perfect. I don’t need all these perks in a race car that can daily. It’s less xrap to break. I love that the seats are raw, not electric or anything. The only thing I wished it had was an automatic right side mirror positioning while backing up so I could see the curbs and not risk scratching the beautiful R19 wheels. Every time I have to manually lower the side mirror curb view to park close to curbs the size of mountains where I live.
I like the newest CTR but here in the Netherlands in 2023 the price was 80000Euros and now in 2024 the cheapest version costs 90000Euros because our high taxes. That is too much. Luckely i bought a S2000 14 years ago.
Damn, never been more glad to not live in Europe. I love a lot from your various cultures, but the hate against car enthusiasts is a huge letdown. I wish Europe would focus more on industrial and commercial pollution and even on regular commuter cars, and make exceptions for sports cars, which are a minority. I hear many countries in Europe even banned nitro RC cars! So ridiculous.
Why does the video look washed out or something? Like there’s some strong filter making everything look saturated in some places, washed out in others.
Can you just put it in Individual mode and then put everything in Type R mode except for the engine sound? I have a FL5, but I don’t feel like going outside in the rain to check it right now? 😂
It it just me? Or is saying “the best FWD car” is like saying “the fastest runner in the special Olympics”? Wouldn’t the best thing be to compare it to actual sports cars that are RWD or AWD and see how it holds up? After all, the entire idea of this car is to make it feel like it’s NOT FWD.
I always like to compare specially when kids try to defame the car I say. It went faster than a pagani zonda. They all start to cry. Tbh it’s faster than 20 supercars like AMG merc and others on track. It’s Honda’s halo. This thing will be like the NSX when the Type R GT starts to win races after races this year. Prices will only shoot up.
Sedated, boring design. Tacked on rear wing that seems to disrupt the design language and looks out of place. Should technically be in the mid-size category but is somehow not. At MSRP it’s a bit expensive. After ADM it’s overpriced, under powered and wrong wheel drive. I own an FK8. I’ve never been all that impressed with it. Honda made a fantastic FWD car that can hold its own but it’s still very much a Civjc. At 37k (the price I paid for mine brand new) it’s a good bit of car for the cash. But beyond that it’s a bit meh. At least the FK8 looks fun. Honestly, once the weather is even marginally decent I put the MX-5 on the road my CTR sits in a garage. I wouldn’t buy another. And that’s what’s weird about it. They’re great cars…if you like budget racers that aren’t exactly budget friendly…
So So sad we live in Canada, unlike USA I often see on my fb group this dealer or that dealer in USA they have incomeing FL5 so dm dealer pls, those of you like me who live in CA you guys know what im talking about, we never have FL5 anymore, or maybe every 1 year only 1 availabe for BC and yes with 10000-20000 CAD MARK UP.......FKING HELL....T_T
Nah FL5 is dead already, aging horribly, just too big and looks like a saloon. Fk8 is better than it ever was, everyone else seems to be copying the aggressive styling now also.
They are NOT fake vents at the front. Do your research. No way on fucking hell does it come close to 4.9 0-60, even on a good day with a perfect launch. Do you research. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 all sorts of wrong info on here. Sad.
