In this video I go over every change I have made to the 2024 KLX 300 this winter. The KLX 300 is a fun bike stock, but one of my favorite thing about this bike is how easy they are to work on. I have upgraded the KLX 300 Suspension, Gearing, Handlebars and Foot Controls. I'd like to eventually change out the tires and exhaust, but I'm waiting for a quiet exhaust for this bike. Parts List is below.

finally someone that doesn't have the need to install a cop caller exhaust! thank you.

Amen on the exhaust! Stealth is the better way. A quiet aftermarket exhaust that’s lighter would be great. Leaving my stock exhaust installed.

Picked mine up last week.2024 in Kawasaki green.Ill be doing the same mods as you.Suspension is on my list too.I have no intention of changing the exhaust for exactly the same reasons.If I have the need for speed I'll take out a bigger bore bike! Thanks for starting this video thread I'll be watching for more.

Good job with the material and video. I feel the need to send out some information that might save viewers from possible decapitation,,, head goes one way, torso keeps riding. Never go fast when it's your first time riding new area. Use caution and roll at speeds that are better for observing off the beaten path... Don't stop exploring. Its good for your health.

Just wanted to say thanks again for the content. Picked up mine yesterday at the dealer. I'm 6'1 260lbs and it has plenty of power for my needs. I'm 39, been out of riding for a few years and super rusty. I plan on doing pretty much every mod you've talked about. I ordered the foot pegs through your link 👍

I put the Tusk tires on my 300 CRF I really like them! The only thing is on a regular gravel road the front tire is a little squirrelly but in the mud and slick stuff they are great! We went to Moab Utah a couple of weeks ago and they performed great! My buddy has them on his KLX 300 and he was with me in Moab.

I am picking up my 2024 KLX300 on Friday. Been watching a lot of videos on modifications. I will go with Tusk hand guards because they give your hands more room. No need to cut down levers. Let me know where that trail is so I can meet you there and make fun of you in person.😂😂 Looks like a great place to ride. Seriously, great video. I plan on leaving the standard exhaust on. Everyone agrees on the footpegs.

Love the videos! Great recommendations. I’m just curious to see if you or anyone else has had a new klx 300r from brand new and noticed changes in performance around the 12-15 hour mark (more noticeable power in 3rd and 4th) Or was it what changes I made… 1. I deleted the pair valve. 2. I trimmed the stock snorkel so it’s both shorter on the top of the air box and the bottom so it’s not blocking the air filter as much. Nothing else was done and on my last ride the bikes power changed considerably… I’ve heard they do break in at some point when they are new and do get more power so maybe it’s that…. But my last ride was pulling different when I hit 3rd than all previous rides….. it was fun

I have a '22 KLX 300R, dirt only. It's my first bike and it's been great so far. IMS pegs are a must. I bent the handlebars as well on the first laydown. I am just starting to look at changing the gearing and was considering a 13 tooth front sprocket to give me a little more torque to pop the frontend up on the trails I ride. Did you replace the chain?
@markydayan
@markydayan 3 дня назад
Hello, great video. Really specific, love that. After changing the front sprocket, what is your cruising speed on the highway? I'm from Argentina, and sometimes I have to travel 150 miles on the highway until I reach a good spot. I haven't decided yet between the KLX 300 or the DRZ 400
@DerekDualSport

Very good video. I'm like you, I like the stealthiness of a quiet exhaust. Not necessarily a stock exhaust, but a quite lighter exhaust.

Are you happy with the stock seat? Or do you think you’ll do something like Seat Concepts?
@7272adam
@7272adam 3 месяца назад
Great video! You should try deleting the secondary throttle plate for no other reason that it makes 6th gear way more usable with out having to shift to 5th on every single incline.,also better throttle response everywhere . I have pulled the spark plug a couple of times after doing it and if anything it is running a tiny bit rich after delete so no worries on fuelling. I am looking the same suspension upgrades you did. You mentioned you are 6'6" if you don't mind me asking how much do you weigh and what is your feed back on the upgrade both on and off road? I am 6ft and 200 pound without gear and the 7kg spring is what the Race Tech is recommending as well. Thanks!
@DerekDualSport
@DerekDualSport 3 месяца назад
Very interesting, 6th gear can definitely be a struggle going up hill haha. Yeah I’m 6’6” 280. Upgrading the springs made a huge difference for me. Off road I definitely feel like I have more control of the bike and I’m not so worried about bottoming out. It’s a lot more comfortable. On road feels fine, I think the main culprit for discomfort on road is the seat.
@7272adam

Do you have an opinion as to adding a protective plate to the engine next to shift lever? When I had a DR650 years ago that was considered close to mandatory, on both sides: shift lever and rear brake
@DerekDualSport
@DerekDualSport 9 дней назад
I have taken this bike through some really rough terrain and rocks without an aftermarket skid plate and haven’t had any issues. But you can never go wrong with the ricochet skid plates. It’s like a “better safe than sorry” type thing. I will probably pick one up in the future.

@DerekDualSport
@DerekDualSport 11 дней назад
I gotta say my KLX has really taken a beating on some super rocky trails. The 24 KLX has a stock skid plate that’s been hanging on well. I think eventually I’m going to get the ricochet skid plate to play it safe.

Lol. For years I called it Ay-sir-bis. I already have a dr650, but after riding a lowered klx230 I realized there was something more pure about riding experience on the smaller bike. I greatly lacked the torque, but I was giggling like a little kid the whole time. I really like the 300. But I sat on a drz400 and really felt comfortable on it. I have a second 650 (honda) that I was given and do not like as much as the suzuki 650 for multiple reasons, so I think I will trade it in on the DRZ.
