People hated the plastic fender pieces. They really seam to look much much worse on the orange painted cars. Looks fine on the red, and I've seen it in real life on blue - also fine....
They want positive reviews. Pay for the press/“influencers” to come to a beautiful place, pay for there beautiful hotel, and food results in positive reviews for your product
@@revefamilyvideos3018not sure if meant to be a reply, but such is the age we live in where the value of the dollar doesn’t go nearly as far as even just a few years ago.
I got an Impreza RS back in 2000, last year in North America before the WRX was available locally. Nothing special by any means, but I kept that thing for 10 years, it was fantastic to me! Still, always wanted a WRX, or dare I say, an WRX STi though, and this one looks great, really considering it. So few fun manual cars these days... Anyway, thanks for another great vid Alex!
The GR Corolla is cool but it isn't really a track car, at least not stock. SavageGeese tested it around Autobahn and the thing heat soaks and pulls timing after about 12 minutes of hard driving.
It is very track and ambient temperature specific.. I have a GRC and plan on tracking mine at some point. Plenty of folks on our forums track theirs without overheating issues.
Great review, glad this car exists (I happen to have a lightning red 2011 wrx hatch) - but it's not the STi that us longtime Subaru fans have been asking for. Between the weaker transmission, lack of DCCD, and open diffs front and rear there's still a gap that Subaru isn't satisfying that interestingly Toyota is with certain packages in the GR Corolla. As noted not probably as charming as the STi was with its (albeit problem-prone) EJ engine and boxer rumble, but for those wanting something more serious out of their manual AWD performance car the Corolla with the diffs optioned out is probably the best way to go.
What's your pick of the hot hatches and this Alex? Also- how did you lose so much weight!!!??? Mazal tov!!!! This might be my favorite current car on the market. All of the WRX trims are great value. I'd rather have this over the Corolla GR as it has an automatic (even if it isn't perfect). And the price is better with no dealer markups. I would get the premium trim or the TR and wait for it used. I wouldn't even consider the Civic Type R due to the excessive width, lack of an automatic and dealer markups. The car has gotten too big and I live in a small town with narrow roads.
Great review. Anybody complaining about not having an STI can go take a walk off a short pier--THIS IS THE LAST SEIREIS OF WRX. Grab it now, or cry like the TRX fangurls. Really, this is it for manual and boxster engine. DONE
I have no clue why anyone would pick this over all other cars in it's class. With the price of this car, might as well hubt for a type r or get an 2024 EN
Well at least for US market Subaru actually produces WRXs in decent quantity, and you're likely to get one for msrp. CTRs are still going for $50k+ OTD. GR Corollas are both limited and markup. Elantra N if you're going auto. I think it would be a toss up manual vs manual. You really get some power out of these new FA24s without it going boom like a EJ.
I'm not the typical person who yells it's too expensive in the comments. I realized inflation is here to stay. But it's hard to justify this price over the GR Corolla. It's too close to the Golf R as well. I guess it's for the WRX enthusiast, otherwise the base and premium trims make way more sense.
Thanks for the review but a couple of questions. Wouldn’t the new 6 piston brakes significantly improve stopping distance coupled with the summer tire? Didn’t the WRX experience brake fade during the Car and Driver Lightning Lap?
The S209, it' predecessors S208, S207 and the RA were Subaru's epitome of the mass production turbocharged ICE H4 car. The S209 being the only USDM one sadly. The WRX TR is only significantly better aka track ready because of the brakes no other reason. Hell the engine is not even tuned more aggressively to extract unlocked power and torque. A three cylinder turbocharged 1.6 litre AWD Toyota with 300 HP is a more track ready car! The GR Corolla!
No spare development funds and quite a fair bit of competition right now for it to be worth any return. BRZ/WRX probably their least profitable models..
@@quademasters249now if the owner was super ocd with maintenance, warms up, and threw some reliability mods on there you could probably get 120-130 k miles at 350whp. The average car owner though not a chance.
@@lucian7182 The max HP only matters if you use it. If you have 400 hp but you're anal and drive it like a wimp, it'll never see 400 hp a second time. The true litmus test is a track day. I've seen numerous "built" suby's fail at track days.
@@quademasters249 idk I’m only pushing 320 whp in my Sti, but I try to open it up and hit that max power once or twice a month to clear out the cobwebs.
Lol, that's not true. I have a modded car and it's insured. First Allstate, now USAA. Now, if you're talking about factory warranty, then yes. Read your fine print.
As a car enthusiast (not to be confused with fanboy), it makes absolutely NO SENSE to buy this car. The 2024 WRX is just UGLY. Who TF signed-off on this design? G-sus christ!! AWD, Brembos, and a stiff suspension are no longer key points Subaru has over other companies. And that price.. $40K+??? WTF!!? This WRX should not cost more than $30k MSRP. Subaru probably taking the price gouging queues from Bidenomics 😅
What an ignorant thing to say. You do realize that everything new costs more across the board. We have all lost buying power. If you can't afford something, don't blame the government. Get an education, get a better job, reduce your spending on other things, save up for the purchase. It sucks but maybe you can't have it immediately. That's life.
@@paul5683 What an ignorant thing to say… Is not like the GOVERNMENT removed the gold standard and the dollar has been in decline ever since. Nope.. that never happened.. 😂
