2024 Subaru WRX TR Pricing Announced | Yikes....
Yes, the TR WRX is more expensive than we had expected. Also it isn't the most expensive optioned 2024 Subaru WRX, it is radically more expensive that what it should be.
At this point you might as well buy a WRX STI.

Lol. What’s funny is everyone was complaining about 48k. Now people are complaining about 42k? Just goes to show that people will crap on everything no matter what. That being said look at its competition. GR Corolla? Poverty spec interior with mark ups. Golf R? Even more mark ups. Civic type R? Good fucking luck. None of the WRX’ competition is readily available or available at msrp. So that leaves the WRX which despite its price increase is still one of the best bang for buck vehicles you can get. The TR trim isn’t the what I would say you get the most money for that would be the premium with the 6MT. Don’t bother trying to say oh but I can buy a base and buy the stuff the TR has and add it on myself. Sure but then guess what? Those parts are going to be mostly used and total up to 40k( HeavyMetalWRX has done some simple math that shows this ) so you’re right at the price point of a TR. People are genuinely delusional and out of their minds expecting everything to be cheap and not priced accordingly. The economy and inflation has come a long way since the days of STIs being 35-36k brand new.

Seriously, they want Subaru to make a better car than the competition and do so at a huge financial loss. I want a car that is fun and works in all weather conditions, but can also haul stuff (kid car seats and home depot runs...GR Corolla is immediately disqualified regardless of price and availability) I love music and the convenience of push-button start so I would want to get the Premium with the HK package. I can just buy a big brake kit if I want later...oh wait the TR is literally $5k more expensive than the Premium with the HK package (per the official 2024 pricing) and it would be around $5k to just get a 6 pot kit not even installed. I also get nicer seats, better steering, steering responsive headlights, suspension that probably rivals coil overs, and other Limited-trim amenities. Another important point, the Base model still exists. It is getting more expensive, but everything is thanks to everyone-knows-what. It is also getting the big screen and eyesight, so your insurance would go down a bit. "Bro, just buy a used Supra!" Right...

I think the problem is that for example the Golf R isn't a competitor... the golf R is clear of the WRX from a performance perspective. The Type R, I kind of get it, there is just more legacy behind what that car means.

@@AutoEnthusiast I would absolutely classify the Golf as a competitor. AWD, Manual option, Turbo.

@@subterraneanguitartech I doubt 1% of people will think about insurance difference. My 2023 outback is $10,000 more then my 2023 wrx and is $300 cheaper a year. My insurance advisor said it's because the eyesight not because it's a wrx that made the difference.

At 48k, it was a no-go. At 42k, it's much more feasible. It's an part swap, reinforced, and upgraded Limited (which starts at 40k.) For someone looking for a VB with minor aftermarket mods needed, the TR is a great choice.
@25rsti15
@25rsti15 5 месяцев назад
That plus a warrenty which can be invaluable to some.

@Edward-jx7pl the limited is easily worth it just for the seats and the headlights alone.
@25rsti15
@25rsti15 5 месяцев назад
Compaining about not getting an sti transmission or even an upgraded transmission in general is like wanting to make a 600+ horsepower build and complaining Subaru didn't add supporting internals to handle the power. For what the car makes stock it's more then adequate and then some. Also, yes the sti being about $42,000 for the limited is the same price.. that was in 2021 add inflation to that and it would be over $49,000. If you add the price of the upgrades you aren't going to be too far off the price if you were to add all that to the base, a set of 6/2 pot brembos is more then half that alone plus everything will be under factory warrenty. Adding more power to a factory car means more then just adding power parts and tuning, the car needs to stay reliable which means the transmission which was fine for 271hp now might not be after thousands of miles and bigger brakes to handle more. And of corse eyesight is going to add more to the price. The wrx at the end of the day isn't a niche super car or anything like that, it's still a car for the masses and Subaru still wants to keep it a safe car and if the cameras can safe atleast one life, isn't that worth it? If you want a wrx without eyesight and the price increase, buy one now. If you want a new one after the 2024's come out the vb is probably going to be the last wrx as the plan is already set to discontinue the wrx like the sti in the future atleast as a solely gas powered car.

-You're still spending 44,000 to 45,000 out the door, just to have Recaro's, a Manual Eyesight System, Brembo's, and Non Special/Non Forged - Stamped 19in wheels, Thats Substantial. I just talked to someone that ordered one through our local dealer. It was $44,010 on the sub-total, not including warranty. Considering a 2021 STI starting at 38,000 (in 2021) would see a market adjustment, to this exact price (sti suspension, sti trans, 315hp, DCCD, Brembo's, Partnership wheels like BBS/RAYS). -Paying the starting price of what a Higher Performing car (imaginary $43-44k Premium 24' STI with cloth Seats and Eyesight for Reality purposes) for a Underperforming model (24 TR Recaros, Brembos, Manual Eyesight) that keeps the same IRL road numbers as the Base $33k trim (for 2024), Is in my opinion going backward dollar per value for investment. -You can easily get into a GR Corolla -Which the key figure here is your "Starting Warranty-Backed Power" that you get to the wheel, for around $42-43k for a Core currently in CA. It makes the 2021 STI a Better value for dollar in terms of what you get mechanically/performance, especially with a Real World market adjustment of basically ~$44,000 for a Premium 2024 STI with cloth seats, 11.6in screen, brembos, Sti trans/Dccd, 320ish horsepower out of the 2.4liter, sti unique wheels and included eyesight. We already know the engine with a simple intake change and proper tested tune, can easily make the power at crank safely. So cost isn't the issue. Its the EPA and their scoring system jumping ahead of what the world infrastructure - Citizen buying power is capable of obtaining simply out of sheer cost of what needs to be fixed before supplying the services, the Power Grid, and Battery Technology as a whole. Which is why Toyota is leap frogging it and going for Hydrogen power, as to opt to Not rely on China for major battery components. But again, companies get stifled by rules set by what they're allowed to sell. "Spend more money to meet this standard --Somehow make it popular, regardless of your income capacity, or stop selling cars here." Simultaneously, a cleaner planet takes all countries. So if China can build 43 new Coal plants for power grid in 2023-2024 (This is searchable yes), and Air traffic continues to increase (Extreme addition to Air Pollution), it makes a clean energy movement that involves aggressive mining for Emission Appropriate Cars really a slap in the face to the avg consumer, but I digress.

I don't agree at all... if you aren't looking at this from a performance/fun perspective the pricing of the TR doesn't matter because that is the community behind it... the car is intended for the performance minded purchaser whom isn't buying for seating. Maybe yes it plays a factor, but if it plays such a factor they likely aren't in the WRX already. I say that as someone that truly believes 4 doors adds a huge bump for this car and is the deciding factor for most enthusiasts, that is just not the intended market for the TR.

This video is a little unfair. You said the TR was going to be overpriced at $48K. Its $42K and now you're still calling it overpriced???
