Those 0-100 times are on point. I managed to get 3.6s (3.4s w/rollout) with 2 people @ 65% SOC and a warm battery. The LG battery has less power output than the Panasonic battery in the US version. One thing I have noticed from analysing a few dragy results of the US version is that as the SOC drops, the LG power curve drops a bit steeper than that of the Panasonic. The US version can get 11.03 sec 1/4 mile time, it will be interesting to see what the LG version can do in the 1/4 at different SOC.
Hi Tom. Always love your professional opinions on Tesla vehicles. I purchased my Model 3 RWD in February and picked up in March which was so impressive as was the overall experience dealing with Tesla. Hassle free from start to finish and communication second to none. I went for the new red colour and 19” mag wheels which confirms the look of a “mid life crisis!” 😂 I just love my Tesla and it’s definitely the most unique and impressive vehicle I’ve ever owned and I’ve been fortunate to drive several BMW’s when I was working as an Electrical Consultant. My wife thinks the black interior looks like “a house with no furniture” 😂. I love the minimalistic layout especially no storks and “thumb driving” and knew after a few minutes of the test drive with Parramatta Tesla (great to deal with) that THIS was the car for me! I’ve since purchased mud flaps and inserts for console storage and couldn’t be happier. So, last night driving home late from the northern beaches, the car was covered in lots of dew and the visibility to the rear was woeful and this would be the one and only criticism I have in that there is no rear wipers and I would love your opinion Tom. Apart from a few adaptation changes to driving, I absolutely love the regenerative breaking and hardly ever use the brakes, love everything else and I say “don’t test drive one because afterwards you’ll WANT ONE”. Thanks Tom, regards, “Tesla” Ren 👋
The HP difference is nowhere close to 50. The US car is stronger by a hair, but the rest of the hp diff comes from different power measurement in the US vs the rest of the world.
Hi Tom, I've been following your BYD Seal journey for a while. I'm yet to own a electric car and looking to purchase my first one on a novated lease. Really struggling between the Seal Premium and the Long Range Model 3 as they are relatively similar in pricing. Do you find your experience with the model 3 better than the Seal? As in, is it significantly more annoying to own a Seal without a inbuilt ev trip planner, charging rates etc. Understand that you own a model y as well, anything you're missing when you have been daily driving the seal as long as you are? If the updated model 3 was available before you purchased a Seal, would you have changed your mind? Looking forward to your insights!
Tough choices are good for consumers! I suggest watching my original comparison: 2024 Tesla Model 3 RWD Highland Update vs BYD Seal Premium Australia: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YAaKVAST3w4.html But keep in mind that a lot of the shortcomings that I originally highlighted in the Seal have been fixed in subsequent software updates eg ADAS issues and wireless CarPlay. I can even now use the Tesla Supercharger network, at least for the locations that Tesla allow. I also use ABRP for EV trip planning! I have posted videos about these remedies so make sure you check them out also! Here’s my BYD Seal playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PLh3LhKaMp3hIW2xzfk5EkAMNK2pSUQ1Yh For my own situation, I would happily buy the Seal again but I appreciate everyone’s circumstances are different. For the record the new Model 3 was already available when I took delivery of the Seal 😃🙏
Thanks for the review. It's a real shame to see the new performance model still has some acceleration that was left on the table. Also, interesting pick up on the wheel geometry, and asymmetry. Would love to own one, but would be mildly disappointed by the performance. I wonder if Tesla will unlock some free speed via a future software unlock.
@@LudicrousFeed you're probably right... i was hoping for something closer to the plaid, and not the same stats as the previous M3P re 0-100 time. The US model is closer.
The US version is 2.9s with no rollout, autotrader had a 2.86s from a standstill. The RHD car is no quicker than the old version which is hugely disappointing.
@@evostu7814 The 2.9s is with rollout. Tesla has always listed their 0-60 times with rollout on the performance versions and without rollout on the non performance versions.
@@mikeyc8139 Tesla quotes rollout to cover all markets, but Rory for the autotrader review managed a 2.86s 0-60 from standstill on a public road, read his comments, also was repeatedly hitting 3.0 seconds when car was down to 50% battery. There are plenty of other reviews aswell stating same thing, best one ive seen is 2.83. I'm sure it wont be long before we see these cars side by side to demonstrate the difference.
Tom another outstanding review. Yes it's a shame that we get (what appears to be) the lesser battery with less range and less power. From my reading it's a US made battery which helps Tesla with tax concessions. I assume that the made in China Tesla battery is cheaper. Either way the new model 3 performance drives beautifully, refined, quieter, better seats and really plenty of power compared to my 2021 long range.
Thanks! Yes agreed, it’s a marked improvement on the previous version. For those who will actually notice the performance difference between the US and China made cars, it may not be worth purchasing but for everyone else, it’s a compelling proposition
Looks like they’ve got extra inventory of older batteries and using the Australian market to use it up? Very disappointing. There’s really no change to performance then?
I still ordered mine and I should receive it in a couple of weeks because my previous model which is the 2020 model has got nearly 90,000 km and it’s just due for an upgrade and with all the other features it’s just a freshen up I think it’s a good price and good value still

Meh, me 1800kg, 320kw that 1835kg and 340kw . Me 3.8 seconds, that 3.6 seconds :). Me saved 30 grand :) and i can go to ikea :) did i mention on roundabouts i indicate using a stalk. i was expecting a real 3 seconds :)
@@LudicrousFeed Just watch jason cammissa in carmudgeon show. Tesla M3P ($53k) make BMW M3 (90k+) car irrelevant. If you love driving then this car for you. Sorry to say BYD seal Performance is not a competition once you compare driving in track and handling Unless you are in a BYD bubble.
@@mhsohel47 The BYD Seal performance is built to get that low 0-100 time, it takes off faster than a Model 3 Long Range but only holds this for a short period, a normal Long Range without performance boost catches it over the 1/4 mile and it's much slower 80-120km/h.
@@mhsohel47 BMW M3 is still relevant for those who want to track their car. Likely it will go all day whereas the M3P will have its brakes or battery die. But really the M3 is a tuners car. 4 mods and it’s running high o second quarters and 0-100 in 2.7 and that’s just the beginning. Depends on what you want.
@@choppedfish8807 Track longevity is superior for ice car right now. But if you want raw power without any mod plaid is better 1.99 0-60 and nurburgring record. Nice for $87k priced car
I was seriously considering the Model 3 performance. I had my test drive this week which went well but was disappointed by how much focus is now on the centre screen, the blinker setup, and the quality of the finishes inside. I didn't realise until now the 0 to 100 test would be 3.4 seconds which is another disappointment. The Model 3 range is a little less than I would expect given the claimed range. Im waiting for the Model Y Juniper release information, but as of now, im leaning towards the ioniq 5 N. Thanks for your review.
Pleasure 🙏 Elon Musk recently (Jun 2024) wrote on X that the refresh Y won’t be launched in 2024 The Ioniq 5N is a solid alternative with a lot of fine tuning setup options for those keen on hitting the track 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Track Day Experience at Sydney Motorsport Park ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZFPRd92HiUc.html
Great review as always. But I’ll stick with the Seal Performance which is half a second slower to 100kmh, even with more HP (weighs 500kg more). It looks better, quieter, stalks, more comfortable ride, less heat transfer through the glass roof, and better perceived build quality than this new M3. Plus I prefer real leather over vinyl seats for the price. And I saved more than $10k. Easy choice.
3.44s is disappointing tbh. The 50hp less and inferior LG pack is not what I expected from Tesla. I have exactly the same LG in my LR from 2020 and it's not charging that quickly. 2.6s and 85kwh with the new CATL Battery would have been amazing. This, not so much.
The new 2024 Tesla Model 3 which I now own to me looks very different to the older model so here in NZ the amount of new models we see is still not many in comparison to the flood of the previous model. I still get quite excited when I see a new model.
Yes very similar to my ex-2019 Performance Model 3 ⏱️ 2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance acceleration 0-100kph Racebox Mini Test ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qNgvphuKzTQ.html
So much slower than the U.S. version, that car hits 0-60 in 2.9s with no rollout as tested by multiple journalists , the RHD version is no quicker than the old car which is hugely disappointing.
@@TheVorst I could see the track mode in my original showroom walkaround: Australia RHD 2024 Highland Tesla Model 3 Performance Walkaround ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m_E0j-w8UR0.html Which is why I was confused as to its apparent disappearance after this software update 🤷♂️
Just a tip, try keeping your hands at 9 and 3, and don’t move them around as you turn the wheel. Do this for all your driving so it becomes normal, a habit. You’ll have much better control and feel. Great review, thanks.
The difference between the US version and the Asia / Europe specification do bother me! Might be a deal breaker . Sorry Tesla but a shit move on ur behalf .
FWIW - Your times of 3.4x sec, were a little slower due to the SOC/pack temp. 90%+ and a Hot pack can make a HUGE difference above 40kph. Id expect 3.1x in perfect conditions. without rollout. But it's still going to be fast all the time, just needs a little prep to get the absolute best.
this au model does a 11.2/11.3 1/4 mile on road in good conditions and the US model does a 10.9 1/4 mile on road. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lvX4lmB5imY.html&ab_channel=Draghub here it does a 10.9 1/4 // 10.9 0-200kmph (124mph)
@LudicrousFeed as someone who regularly rides their bike on the OPH looking at you playing with the centre screen while taking the curves was terrifying. I wonder how well you could react if you came across me around a bend.
Thank you Tom. This review was awesome. Question. I don’t need extra performance but want good handling. Comparing a 2024 Model 3 Long Range vs Model 3 Performance - is the extra cost worth the handling benefits ?
How does it compare to Polestar 2 Performance? Although slower, but it feels more premium and it includes everything Tesla took away, except the cup holder.
Yup good question, I feel the Tesla is probably easier to handle and probably better value for the price. No doubt Polestar is unique with some other nice overall style notes
Too bad my 3 year old Model 3 Performance doesn't get the new full screen visualization even though I have FSD and everything else under the sun on the car.
again..... NMC battery.... i'll take the Seal Performance and $15k change in my pocket..... but seriously, how often you'll drive like a lunatic on public roads or you have the urge to spontaneously combust your license...... but i'll wait for the 2nd gen blade battery and 3.0evo platform and see what wonder they can perform.....
Fantastic review! Are the indicator buttons capacitive on this car? MKBHD said that the US performance version has capacitive indicator buttons while LR and RWD are real buttons 🤔

Without Elon, EV wouldn't exist and is the driving force to improve CO2 on our planet + finally he provide Internet (Starlink) for remote areas all over the world via Space X. With X he provides Free Speech. Neurolink could improve live for many paralysed people. I think he may becomes the man of century.
That is US EPA range. Non dynamic - so does not consider temp / driving style etc. Just SoC X std consumption according to EPA. Most change to showing battery % instead.
@@LudicrousFeed but there are two modes of active suspension in the new m3p that you tested now, one is "sport" which is more firm, and the other is "standard/comfort" which is more soft. You only checked the "sport" mode...

The premise of your question is ridiculous. Why do you care what other people think of your choice of car? Buy it because you like it and enjoy driving it. Who cares whether someone else thinks you or your car are special.
Apparently Tesla is working on a complete new range of speculative thoughts of what might happen one day.....and subsequently actually be delivered. Some suggest that the timing has something to do with a remuneration vote ?!. Can't for the life of me think why they would think THAT...... 🤔
