I remember about 15 years ago when we didn't really care for a truck to be luxurious. They were priced right and interior fit/finish wasn't a concern nearly as much as capability. Now that these things are priced so high they miss the mark on these small details that piss people off. My 2005 Chevy 2500 has had little rattles and minor interior quality issues since I drove it off the lot, but I never cared about it. They never got worse and the truck will never die. Look at a first or second gen Tundra, the interiors were cheap and had rattles too.

Sorry for your experience. I own a 2024 platinum tundra at almost 9k miles and I have experienced zero issues. I know you mentioned that you own an SR5, most places where the SR5 has plastic, mine has leather. That being said, I agree with you. I have a 21 Tacoma, but I used to have a 15 Tundra and an 06 Xterra all were high build quality with no rattles. I also have a 19 Rav4 and that does have some rattles that drove me nuts, but I took care of them myself. I know you should not have to do this, but you can pull those panels off and put a strip of my sticking foam weatherstripping under it or put the weatherstripping along inside the gap. That would at least keep it from rattling.

I’ve been in all the new full sized trucks at this point. The new Tundra is by far one of the worst currently on sale. If your going to buy an American truck that’s made in America you might as well buy from an American brand. Your fooling yourself if you are thinking that you’re going to be getting something different just because this one says “Toyota” This is also the reason why I don’t consider myself a “brand loyalist” just because a brand used to make a good product doesn’t mean they always will, and just because a brand used to be synonymous with terrible products doesn’t mean they won’t turn around and make a good product.

I have a 2023 tundra platinum. I’ve had it for a year and a week and I have no issues whatsoever with it. None at all I would take your truck back to the dealer and have them fix it. You could open those those switches the whole thing pops up And see why you have a gap there you shouldn’t have a gap there that gap so just pop it off and open up the clips if you can so it makes a tighter fit or push the clips up more into the base so that it takes the gap away and I know you shouldn’t have to do this. You spent top dollar for your truck, but if the dealer is willing to fix it, you might have to do it yourself but yeah, I can’t believe some of these trucks have so many issues, and I think the only thing I can think of poor quality control or true what they say you never wanna buy a truck that was made on Monday or on Friday

This is exactly why I’m glad I didn’t buy these new tundras. After I saw my friends new TRD PRO, everything felt cheap. I’m a mechanic and see so many wrong things in this gen. Center console creeks, the left ac vent can pull out so easily. Hard plastics everywhere. Worst part is if you put your finger through the dash bezel, it literally just pops out. Others have complained about the factory bed liner peeling at 50 miles. Toyota has definitely fallen off build quality. Let alone the reliability of the TT V6. I honestly dont think they’ll last. I ended up buying a 2021 Ram 2500 power wagon and it blows my mind how good the build quality and materials they use. Night and day difference. This is my first American truck and I think I’ll be sticking around because I can’t see myself buying any new Toyota trucks anymore. My truck has 50k miles now and zero issues. You should go check out these new power wagons and you might fall in love. Front and rear lockers. Literally impossible to get them stuck offroad. Welp, they were built here in the states. That's American quailty for you. My 2015 corolla was built in Canada and I got these issues within my first year. The engine, tranmission, and components have been solid but the rattles are annoying to get used to.
