I am running a case that has almost identical volume as yours, the 22/243 AI with a 14T, 23"(used Benchrest bullet), and got the best results with 60g Sierra at 4000 fps using Win 760. For a comparison, I have had 22/250 AI's for decades and my load in almost every barrel is 44.5g of Win 760 with a Federal 210. So, your 22/6 Rem will be hotter. When working with a wild cat, I want to find pressure because the best accuracy will be within 2.0g of max pressure, as a rule of thumb. So, I load one round and one round only, increasing the powder charge to .5g at a time. I stand up the fired cases, head up, and watch the following for pressure: Rounded edges of the primer depth of the lettering(magnifying glass is a great aid) Case head scraping and of course, increased bolt lift is a definite help. I stop when I find pressure, and pull the bullets on the hotter loads. I cool the barrel with a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and water, use a wash rag and apply enough of the liquid to where the liquid is dripping off the bottom of the barrel. You will get better velocities with the 60g than you will get with the 55s. I tried Varget and blew primers out of the case with the 22/243 AI trying to get 55s up to the speed of the 22/250 AI and could not get there. Varget has one heck of a pressure spike at the top end. H414 and Win 760 will serve you very well with 60g Bullets, and it does take a 12 twist to shoot the 60g V max but not the 60g Sierra, if you can find any.
Nice, I just finished watching your videos. They were pretty fun to watch. Hopefully, we get some more. It would be fun to see how that load of 45.5 grains repeats.
Switch to nickel plated brass and those won’t stick. I had a 22-250 that the brass cases would stick. Switched to nickel brass and no issues at all. My guns were custom built with short, tight chambers.
Hey buddy, I think your using too fast of a powder for that case/bullet combo. I looked in the Sierra manual and they have 22-6mm load and it’s showing for the 55 grain bullets powders in the 4350-4381 burn area. I can email you a pic of the page with the 55 grain loads if you would like. I’m really pulling for this rifle, always been a fan of the 22-6mm.
I tried rl 16 and the case filled before pressure. I dropped back to h380 and got decent case fill when hitting pressure plus it fired a great group so I’m going to call it good. I’m happy with it. The velocity on 45.5 is 3690 fps and that group measured .118 center to center. Thank you for your interest
