These cars mpgs thrive on the highway in eco mode. Ive gotten over 600 miles out of my 13 gallon tank on my 2014. Just turned 100k miles and drives better than ever.
I’ve put 70k on mine, now i’m at 210k miles i just replaced the alternator last week (upgraded to a 220 amp from 180) replaced the harmonic balancer in July (after it failed). other than that its been great. I get free oil changes +detail from bmw every other month. ($230 high milage package) my valve cover gasket leaks a ton, gonna do that soon. also the rear drivers side tail light needs repair. (repair kit) other than that There was a cracked coolant connector. Over all super easy car to work on. It’s fun to drive I love it. Recently cleaned intake manifold and had to change the dpf pressure sensor, now it feels like a new car. It was criminal how much gunk the egr caused. plans: suspension (any recommendations?) and egr/dpf delete + down pipe and a tune.
Actually this video made me get one. 2014 328D for 5K it has 157k miles on it. it jerks probably a DPF EGR issues. Will go to the dealer with it to see how it goes since there's a EGR recall on it. but nice vid about it . Love this car
Wow! 5k! very well could have emissions issues. Perhaps try an additive to the diesel like archoil or powerservice diesel kleen to help it. Fun little cars!
@@Bigem82 actually it’s at the dealer for a EGR replacement and a broken bolt in the exhaust free of charge due to the recall. After I put Diesel in it it runs like a charm. No more CEL no more sputtering or jerking. Love this car. I am waiting for the dealer to call me to get it back. Best deal I’ve ever done. I got it from Copart auction. Bless up brother. Definitely interested in more content on this motor. I'm wondering if it can last to 250k-300k without any major repairs. It seems like the DPF and all the extra emissions equipment is a common issue with all modern day diesels and supposedly chokes the motor out, performance and health wise, to satisfy emission requirements.
We’ll see how it goes. I think it has a little bit of blow by or it might be normal idk. I am replacing the ccv on the valve cover once it arrives in the mail, also bought a vented oil cap. Got it for so little relatively I just want to drive it till it’s mechanically totaled/unrepairable.
They don't choke the engine, without the DPF and EGR, it makes your 2014 328d look like a 1980s diesel.. I have a 2017 320d (same as 328d, 190hp, 295ft-lbs, all completely stock), never had any issues with the DPF or anything else, once you drive on the motorway (highway) enough, you shouldn't have any issues.
How is it holding up? I got mine 4 months ago with 92k now I’m at 136k and it’s been holding up pretty good, I do the oil change myself every 5k miles and not a single problem, I use it for uber, and I loovve driving this little bmw, it definitely feels faster than what bmw claims 180hp. I’m aiming for 250-300k miles at least! Anything you recommend I should change to prevent a failure?
Very nice! I just do oil changes every 10k, new filters (intake, cabin, fuel) and brake fluid every other year, and run a dose of Diesel Kleen through about every other month. One thing to look out for is the plastic coolant tube under the manifold that is bolted to the head and attaches to the upper radiator hose. It’s common for those to crack and begin weeping coolant. Just keep an eye on it. Got it at 205k and now coming upon 250k. One thing that may help me is I drive it kind of slow lol
Sorry bud, I got you beat, I bought a 2014 328d with 170k~ miles in 2021 for $2500. I did have to put a custom tune on it to get it to start, the BMW stealership screwed me on the DEF( SOX sensors) they simply removed them and left them unplugged which logged a really difficult to clear out error code, hence the tune. But I got an extra 80 hp and 15% better fuel economy.
Thinking of getting one this week with only 40k miles. But it’s salvage. Car looks good though like nothing ever happened. Any suggestions if I should get it or not?
Good car, I own a 323i 2009 since 2018 and I’m now looking to get a 328d 2014 all the one I see are around of 80k miles and if they can go up to 200-300k miles I would be trully happy and also i know with old Jetta tdi they are lasting way longer then the normal gaz one, is it still the case with these bmw car i haven’t seen any with high mileage on sale thanks
I’m close to 250k miles and my emissions work just fine! Just use high quality diesel fuel from a place that sells a lot of it and run something like Powerservice Diesel Kleen through it every month or two
No, I had sold them. I had the height maxed out and just way too low in the front. They did ride pretty decent with medium stiffness settings. I'm much happier with the H&R springs. If I did it again I'd probably go completely stock on the suspension.
Got one with 213K, Sportline, all it needed was an alignment job (the previous owner had the entire front end suspension refreshed and well as new tires). $4000 here!
