From experience... Never cut anything towards you... ALWAYS cut away from you... Says the guy who cut himself and sliced his finger and cut a nerve and a blood vessel and had to get surgery to repair and still never got the proper feeling of my finger... Just saying... Mark white lures! Locally made from Kauai Good lures use fast retrieval esp over shallow water with reef lol but if you go deeper water can let sink a little under surface and use jerks and fast retrieve🤙🏼

Next time use the coconut shave some over da fish then roast um' 🤙 need salt look in tide pools. Use crabs for bait at night da Mu loves it!

Nice to see you again my friend. Try putting the coconut on the ground and put pressure on the knife as you push away. Number one rule with knife safer when pushing away from the body.

Nice job, whipping success! I do not like ants either, or any other bugs when I sleep. That’s why I always sleep in my ultra light backpacking tent. Waterproof floor, bug proof mesh body and rain fly. All in a package that is about 1/2 the size of a loaf of bread.

You can always find salt dried up in the pockets of rocks near the surf. It's very good, natural stuff with a lot of minerals just rub it on the fish before you throw it on the fire. Oh, and be careful of the night marchers near the heiau's -- I've experienced it, followed by vivid dreams of walking in the lava tubes on the big island with Hawaiian children from the past, then some type of poltergeist activity--very scary! Strangely, enough I found a book while walking my dog in Ala moana (of all places in a dark corner near Piikoi) titled Spirit Walker by Hank Wesselman...but that's another story...

Great episode! Are you on Patreon? It might be a good idea to take some shoyu packets with you next time, a little salt enhances the flavor to the next level and won't weigh you down. I think a few days chiling with the Menehue and pulling some invasives is a great idea, I would totally watch that, is there a native Hawaiian blessing for peaceful non-creepy camping/fishing? Finally are fire ants an invasive species there and if so is there bait (state sanctioned of course) that you can bring with you to kill the queens?

You could always cut the top off the coconut to boil crab or fish in the water. Flavor is really good, add a lemon if you have one.

You need a portable hammock stand. Although, they do weigh around 15 to 25 lbs, so it may not be worth lugging it 4 miles. Anyways, this was a nice change of pace video. Wouldn't mind seeing more like it.

Ryan, next time you go to this place take about 3 bottles of Amdro spread it around to kill all the ants plus it's safe for the environment. Fire Ants are an invasive species so if we can get a few queens we can reduce the problem and you can get those coconut trees for your hammock. Just remember that ant bait name "Amdro" and go kill some fire ant colonies.
